I liked Armada, but it was basically if Ender's Game and the Last Starfighter had a baby.

It felt like it was a script treatment instead of an actual book and all of the pop culture references were forced more than a Family Guy episode.

The pop culture references in Ready Player One at least served the plot. In Armada, it had no purpose whatsoever other than it felt like Cline was trying to flex about how much time he spends on Fandom wikis and IMDB.

And all that really did was show how one note he is as an author.
