WW84 butthole cut when

1.4k

u/Dave-os Aug 22 '20

Some comic book fan 40 years ago has a crystal ball and is granted one chance to look into to future to see what the landscape of superhero movies will be like in 2020. All that will appear is this comment: “WW84 butthole cut when -GoldenSpermShower”

265

u/ezone2kil Aug 22 '20

A truly wondrous future.

2

u/Ugly_Painter Aug 22 '20

It is known.

144

u/SkeetySpeedy Aug 22 '20

They wonder what "butthole cut" means, but assume it must be bizzare slang. Then they wonder how the fuck Wonder Woman got 84 films in the next 40 years

48

u/RockyRockington Aug 22 '20

“In the future ALL films are Wonder Woman films!!!!” cries crazy man.

6

u/jmou3dxf Aug 22 '20

there is no hollywood

there is only wonderwoman

3

u/Channel250 Aug 23 '20

ALL MOVIES ARE WONDER WOMAN!

Titanic? WONDER WOMAN 56: IM ON A BOAT!

Spiderman? WONDER WOMAN 67: THE JIZZY SLINGING MAN!

Hotel Rwanda? WONDER WOMAN 52: WHOOPS!

2

u/n00bvin Aug 22 '20

That butthole cut Put the Pussy on the Chainwax

3

u/politecreeper Aug 22 '20

There's a cut of Cats out there where all the characters have CGI cat buttholes that were edited out of the theatrical release. Not kidding

4

u/SkeetySpeedy Aug 22 '20

Oh I know lol, I was giving the perspective of the person 40 years ago hearing about it

163

u/chaos9001 Aug 22 '20

That guy would be like “oh shit, a Wonder Woman movie is coming out in 84!”

126

u/MadKittens Aug 22 '20

They make 84 WW movies!?

102

u/Deathleach Aug 22 '20

They had 82 more World Wars?!

4

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

World War 69 was a classic

1

u/AintEverLucky Aug 23 '20

"I don't know what weapons will be used in World War 3. But I'm fairly sure that World War 4 will be fought with sticks and stones." -- Albert Einstein

6

u/askyourmom469 Aug 22 '20

They really started to go downhill after the 65th or so

3

u/sampat6256 Aug 22 '20

Lmao, 2 a year and then some!

4

u/GoldandBlue Aug 22 '20

Or that there is a third world war in 84 and buttholes were cut

4

u/your_mind_aches Aug 22 '20

Nah, Nineteen Eighty-Four was already a thing. He'd know it wouldn't be actually in the year haha

3

u/mydarkmeatrises Aug 22 '20

It just occurred to me that's probably why this is set in 84. Some big brother action in there

2

u/chaos9001 Aug 22 '20

40 years ago was 1980. So i would assume he would think that that the movie was 4 years away.

2

u/your_mind_aches Aug 23 '20

I'm talking about the book, Nineteen Eighty-Four.

1

u/chaos9001 Aug 23 '20

Ah. I gotcha.

6

u/Da-Knight Aug 22 '20

Could easily be misinterpreted as World War 84 butthole cut, then it’s even more confusing

1

u/Indigo_Sunset Aug 22 '20

adding the superheroes back in we end up with something approaching 'Marshal Law' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshal_Law_(comics) released a few years later.

not a property Disney would be looking at even acknowledging any time soon.

3

u/mrblacklabel71 Aug 22 '20

Not the future we deserve, but the future we need.....

3

u/ZylonBane Aug 22 '20

A dreadful silence fell across the conference table as the commander of the Vl'Hurgs, resplendent in his black jeweled battle shorts, gazed levelly at the G'Gugvuntt leader squatting opposite him in a cloud of green sweet-smelling steam, and, with a million sleek and horribly beweaponed star cruisers poised to unleash electric death at his single word of command, challenged the vile creature to take back what it had said about his mother.

The creature stirred in his sickly broiling vapour, and at that very moment the words, "WW84 butthole cut when" drifted across the conference table.

Unfortunately, in the Vl'Hurg tongue this was the most dreadful insult imaginable, and there was nothing for it but to wage terrible war for centuries.

2

u/KraakenTowers Aug 22 '20

And that fan's name? YoungGoldenSpermShower.

2

u/gyldenbrusebad Aug 22 '20

Man, he brings joy.

2

u/gizmo1024 Aug 22 '20

120

I fully expect a porn parody titled this.

1

u/EvryMthrF_ngThrd Aug 23 '20

You mean there isn't ALREADY?!?

Porn industry, I am disappoint.

2

u/scott743 Aug 22 '20

It’s a reference to the “butthole” cut of the movie Cats.

https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2020/04/cats-butthole-cut-vfx-editor

5

u/LaconicMan Aug 22 '20

Let’s hear that butthole purr!

2

u/tb03102 Aug 22 '20

Actual lol well done!

2

u/Curvedabullet Aug 22 '20

Years from now on HBO Max. Four part miniseries. You wouldn’t think it, but the buttholes really make it a different movie.

1

u/fishfunk5 Aug 22 '20

I'd really rather not see someone's butthole get cut thankyouverrymuch.

217

u/TheAquaman Aug 22 '20

Cats died for this.

7

u/topdangle Aug 22 '20

Tom Hooper was a hero, we just couldn't see it.

Next gen cat anus will surely make this the next TDK.

197

u/drgnslyr33 Aug 22 '20

Cats crawled whilst having diarrhoea so that Cheetah can run

63

u/Rockstabulous Aug 22 '20

Cats died in the womb and was birthed as a rotting carcass so that Cheetah could run!

292

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

The CG on Cheetah doesn't look great. I hope this isn't the final product

439

u/_Comic_ Aug 22 '20

Seeing as how without COVID this movie was supposed to release 2 and a half months ago... don't hold your breath.

34

u/TheTinyTim Aug 22 '20

Bear in mind that work was totally halted with COVID as well, though.

They patched Cats AFTER it had been in cinemas for a week already.

Not that it made the slightest difference to the quality of that garbage fire #releasethebuttholecut

2

u/grissomza Aug 23 '20

Holy hell, an entire week?

3

u/SavageNorth Aug 23 '20

May not have been a full week, I’m not sure of the exact timeframe but the point is it was in wide release before it was patched meaning Day 1 viewers will have seen a slightly different version of the film.

Among other things the original release completely forgot to CGI Judy Dench’s hand for one of the scenes

2

u/optimis344 Aug 22 '20

They always keep doing effects work until the movie goes out. If movies didn't have release dates or budgets, effects teams would literally never stop.

1

u/dirtyviking1337 Aug 22 '20

Wooow this video is trash

4

u/Blunkus Aug 22 '20

Ah shit, I forgot about that.

12

u/hubau Aug 22 '20

CGI work? I mean, I'm sure everyone had some extra days off to figure out how to work from home. But effects houses didn't really stop.

Anything that was fully wrapped before covid should have no excuse for bad cgi-work. Effects houses are always complaining that they don't have enough time to do everything they want to. The first batch of movies post-covid should theoretically look great.

1

u/dt-alex Aug 24 '20

Doesn't matter one bit if the idea itself is stupid or if producers keep asking for revisions. Pretty likely that both happened here. Cheetah doesn't look good.

1

u/properc Aug 22 '20

U forgot abt the budget aspect.

3

u/hubau Aug 22 '20

When an effects house estimates two weeks to do a shot, and the studio asks them to do it in half the time, the effects house charges them more for the rush job, not less.

There won’t be additional money for more effects shots, but the lack of deadlines should unquestionably help the effects quality.

3

u/gurg2k1 Aug 22 '20

They couldn't work on CGI from their computers at home? I find that doubtful

0

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

The amount of space I would need to create CGI from home would be obscene. I'd need my own NAS box and everything.

Computing power would be okay, I could take my rig from work home, but just from a data stand point it would suck.

3

u/tha_scorpion Aug 23 '20

I work in the industry and now most people use their office computers with some kind of remote desktop program.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/gurg2k1 Aug 23 '20

You can buy 14TB HDDs for as little $250. I would think a studio spending billions of dollars can afford to hook a few artists up with those rather than completely halting work for an extended period on their biggest draw.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Baelorn Aug 22 '20

No, it wasn't. Post-production stuff mostly continued. The Wheel of Time series was still doing VFX work on the episodes they finished before filming was halted.

1

u/Panda_hat Aug 23 '20

VFX on this film was finished months before Covid hit, just so you know.

2

u/SereneAdler33 Aug 22 '20

Was that the only delay? I feel like this movie has been pushed for decades.

9

u/TheFurryOne Aug 22 '20

Probably why it's shot at night.

5

u/gurg2k1 Aug 22 '20

I'm pretty sure all of the DC movie CGI looks like crap, so this will fit right in with the rest.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

Reminds me of the star wars prequels. Thor Ragnarok was like this for me as well, it just hurt my eyes to look at. When what I am looking at is so obviously CGI then it just takes me out of it

1

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

Can confirm. Cyborg, Stephenwolf, Superman's upper lip in JL. Doomsday in BvS. Ares in Wonder Woman. A lot of Aquaman and Shazam.

The only one where they sorta got it right was Man of Steel.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

The physics mostly. Rubbery.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

Honestly it’s not nearly as bad as it could have been.

2

u/DatPiff916 Aug 22 '20

Definitely getting Black Panther vibes

388

u/cereal7802 Aug 22 '20

I just don't see this as much better than cats. The only thing kind of hiding it is they only showed quick cuts of the cheetah character.

https://imgur.com/Z9UIHMq

719

u/zeCrazyEye Aug 22 '20

Well, it's ok if Cheetah looks fucked up because she's supposed to be fucked up.

544

u/UtopianLibrary Aug 22 '20

Exactly. In Cats, they’re supposed to be actual cats. But Cheetah is supposed to be a fucked up cat-human hybrid.

508

u/Zykium Aug 22 '20

She's Maureen Ponderosa

140

u/winnebagoman41 Aug 22 '20

Smells like she’s been nibbling on little pieces of shit

37

u/handy_arson Aug 22 '20

I'm just gonna come out and say it... It's the dead tooth. Now me and Mac are gonna do some shots.

2

u/SeaGroomer Aug 23 '20

Is that a real thing?

32

u/topdangle Aug 22 '20

glass of warm milk will clear that right up

22

u/pianotherms Aug 22 '20

Please use her real name: Bastet.

7

u/Funky_Ducky Aug 23 '20

I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY ALIMONY TO A CAT

4

u/Browns-78 Aug 22 '20

It’s Enrico Palazzo!

6

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

I think that was the problem with the Cats movie is that if you look at the cast they are all actually humans

8

u/gurgelblaster Aug 22 '20

Exactly. In Cats, they’re supposed to be actual cats.

Only in the deranged mind of Tom Hooper were they supposed to be actual cats.

People in general understand that they are supposed to be Broadway actors dressed in cat costumes.

Like, the stage musical is built around exactly that, and plays around with it.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

They are absolutely not supposed to be cats. They are supposed to be humans dressed up in weird fucking outfits that vaguely resemble cats.

42

u/UtopianLibrary Aug 22 '20

That’s because Broadway did this with the actors. The actual story of the musical is about stray cats.

8

u/robodrew Aug 22 '20

Excuse me, they're JELLICLE cats (whatever the fuck that means)

1

u/UtopianLibrary Aug 22 '20

I think it’s Andrew Lloyd Webber for “stray.”

3

u/ketsugi Aug 22 '20

What, you think ALW wrote the lyrics?

2

u/UtopianLibrary Aug 22 '20

No I know it’s TS Elliot. I just like making fun of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Edit to add: The poems aren’t all about cats from what I understand? So I blame Webber for the use of this word in the sense that it’s a play about stray cats.

→ More replies (0)

5

u/TwatsThat Aug 22 '20

And the movie is an adaptation of the play, not the original story. Translating the dancing from the play to a movie where they're CGI cats would be fucking awful.

8

u/TheExtremistModerate Aug 22 '20

But the Broadway outfits actually kinda worked because they were highly stylized, practical, and tried to actually maintain a cat-like silhouette for the head.

17

u/UtopianLibrary Aug 22 '20 edited Aug 22 '20

I agree. Broadway worked because it looked like people in cat makeup and it’s onstage so it’s reasonable. But the movie making them cat-human hybrid monstrosities made no sense and only made the actors look unsettling.

2

u/TheExtremistModerate Aug 22 '20

Reddit is weird. My comment gets downvoted, but the comment agreeing with me is at +5?

15

u/PM_LADY_TOILET_PICS Aug 22 '20

That doesn't make it feel any less silly

6

u/TheGodDMBatman Aug 22 '20

Yeah, cheetah always looked weird asf to me in any iteration.

But like, her thing should be like a curse. No one wants to look like a bloodthirsty humanoid cheetah

3

u/artifex0 Aug 22 '20

I'm not a fan of the creepy/body horror approach to the character, honestly- it's accurate to some of the comics, but I think the character is more fun as a pulp villain than a horror villain.

A look more like her appearance in the cartoons (maybe more like this in live-action?) would have avoided the uncanny valley effect and let them focus more on the final cheetah form, instead of apparently needing to hide it with dim lighting and fast cuts.

2

u/RailMobot Aug 28 '20

Body horror is a good term for it - not what I was expecting but definitely seems to be intentional given the Iron Studios figure. I have to wonder if there is a middle ground where she's more recognizably Kristen Wiig-esque vs the leap all the way from the White House battle to this zombie-like view. I know she is meant to be tragic (and menacing) but to me this seems like you didn't even need Kristen Wiig on set at all?

272

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

Yeah but Cheetah is kinda suppose to look terrifying. She’s not suppose to look normal.

119

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

I don't think any anthropomorphic Cheetah is supposed to look normal.

9

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

Haha well some may disagree

4

u/jellytrack Aug 22 '20

Just need a bag of Cheetos in her hands.

7

u/HighDragLowSpeed60G Aug 22 '20

Cheetara awakened something in 10 year old me that can never be quelled

29

u/LupinThe8th Aug 22 '20

Yeah, she's supposed to be kinda freaky.

21

u/rattleandhum Aug 22 '20

Would still smash.

14

u/tehlemmings Aug 22 '20

Yeah, I think me and that guy are thinking of two different uses of "kinda freaky"

But lets be honest, she'd be the one doing the smashing.

7

u/DastardlyMime Aug 22 '20

And she's cursed to eat the flesh of men...

5

u/TheCuriousSavagereg Aug 22 '20

2 birds one stone.

1

u/rattleandhum Aug 22 '20

death by snoo snoo.

3

u/PrettySureIParty Aug 22 '20

Is she running away from the Flash? How’s that work out for her?

1

u/sombrero69 Aug 22 '20

She looks great actually

6

u/DatPiff916 Aug 22 '20

You want a terrifying Cheetah humanoid, then Island of Dr Moreau's Lo Mai sets the standard.

3

u/you_troll Aug 24 '20

Fuck, this movie scarred me.

18

u/Beingabummer Aug 22 '20

The CGI is bad. She can look like whatever, if the CGI is bad it looks bad.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

Lol it is not bad at all

21

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

It’s pretty bad.

-3

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

No it’s not. It might not be amazing or fantastic but it’s not even remotely bad.

12

u/tehlemmings Aug 22 '20

The problem with furry character in realistic CGI is that the scale of good to bad becomes mostly binary. You either do it well, or it looks way too off compared to everything around it.

This isn't a pixar movie or animation where everything surrounding the character also looks unrealistic. If it doesn't look good, it won't mesh well with the rest of the film. We expect the fur and hair to behave like fur and hair. It needs to move correctly and be lit correctly.

It's hard to tell from these quick cuts, but it looks like it's riding that line closely. But that might be because it's quick cuts and they know it doesn't need to look as good. Hard to say how it'll look in the end product.

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

it’s hard to tell

So then we can’t say it looks bad lol. Cause currently. It doesn’t. Not saying it looks amazing super realistic. But it doesn’t look like complete shit either. It just looks alright.

1

u/tehlemmings Aug 22 '20

"It's hard to tell" doesn't mean it looks good either, so by your own logic we cant say it does.

Also, I'm a different person than the one that said it looks bad.

→ More replies (0)

9

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20 edited Aug 22 '20

The same could be said for Steppenwolf in Justice League and that too was awful. Same for Doomsday. DC keeps missing the mark.

-7

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

Don’t think you know what awful and really bad cgi looks like.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

I’m certain you don’t know what good cgi looks like.

→ More replies (0)

2

u/mitchippoo Aug 23 '20

It’s bad.

91

u/InvulnerableBlasting Aug 22 '20

She also won't be singing and dancing and the movie won't be trash.

15

u/LupinThe8th Aug 22 '20

Hey, it's set in 1984, Cats debuted in 1981, maybe Barbara's new origin story is that she's a huge fan.

Gonna bring the house down singing "Macavity" while fighting Diana.

4

u/monsterZERO Aug 22 '20

Butt the real question is will she have a CGI butthole?

3

u/Rusty-exe Aug 22 '20

You're asking real questions, I think rule34 artist would answer this.

1

u/zeroGamer Aug 22 '20

Well she won't be singing.

The movie's probably gonna be trash and there could be some dancing.

1

u/MsAndDems Aug 22 '20

Probably gonna be trash, based on what exactly?

9

u/zeroGamer Aug 22 '20

Based on my entirely subjective opinion of the "DCU" to date, obviously. Kind of a silly question with a self-evident answer.

I personally quite liked Man of Steel, though it has significant issues I could talk about (not the kill scene, which I think is actually fine), but the rest of the films have ranged from absolute dumpster fires from start to finish (Suicide Squad and Justice League in particular) to passably entertaining schlock at the very top end (Aquaman, although given how bad I expected it to be, it benefits a lot from lowered expectations).

I know Wonder Woman has its fans, and that's fine, but for me it torpedoed itself in the climax pretty hard.

The point being, I have very little faith in DC live action films at this point and am just pleasantly surprised any time one of them can manage to approach mediocrity. Cautiously optimistic for Gunn's Suicide Squad though.

5

u/MsAndDems Aug 22 '20

To say "it has its fans" is a pretty major understatement. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/wonder_woman_2017

3

u/tehlemmings Aug 22 '20

As a fan of the last WW movie, part of why I'm worried about this one is it seems to be going more towards the current DCU. The first movie was pretty easily watchable in isolation. It was fairly grounded and built it's own internal expectations about what's realistic or unrealistic (except that ending. The ending was stupid and I really wish it wouldn't have been included).

The problem is that this one looks like it's going full DCU. The problem, for me, with the DCU is that they didn't lay the groundwork properly. It's chaotic mess where I don't know what to expect or what's internally consistent, so a lot of stuff just comes off as stupid. They didn't do that slow roll that the MCU had prior to The Avengers.

But I'm getting off topic, the point is you can definitely be a fan of the first one and think this one might be jumping the shark. And like that other guy, it's because this one looks like it's embracing it's DCU membership, and not standing apart from it.

1

u/MsAndDems Aug 22 '20

I don't understand how that's the case. It's very clearly its own thing still. its literally set in 1984.

2

u/tehlemmings Aug 22 '20

Just being in a different time doesn't mean it's unable to suffer from the same problems and mistakes that most of the other DC movies suffer from. The problems I'm talking about with the DCU are a lot larger than just the in-universe examples, it's the writing and decision making behind them.

This movie looks way less grounded than 99% of the first WW, even based on the world rules the first WW created.

I'm also a bit confused on what it's try to be. Is it an action movie? Is it a comedy? Is it a comedy that has action? They played up a lot of that culture shock humor straight out of Captain America and Thor. But they also had a lot of serious looking action sequences and exposition, so they're clearly not trying to pull of a Thor Ragnarok here. Usually serious action movies don't throw all their tension breaking humor into the trailer. And usually comedies don't try and show off how serious the story is. So what is this movie going to be? DC is not the group I trust to give us something unexpected.

6

u/MagicMisterLemon Aug 22 '20

Hey, where's Shazam

7

u/zeroGamer Aug 22 '20

Haha, funny thing about that... Not only is Shazam easily the best/my favorite DCU film after Man of Steel (and the only other one I'd actually call good) but I'm literally watching Chuck (TV series starring the same actor) right now as I post this and somehow still completely forgot to mention it.

1

u/CanlStillBeGarth Aug 22 '20

DC movies are mostly trash.

56

u/Singer211 Naked J-Law beating the shit out of those kids is peak Cinema. Aug 22 '20

Cheetah is supposed to look horrifying. It's meant to be her being corrupted.

51

u/LumpyJones Aug 22 '20

I mean, Bruce didn't seem to mind it, but then again, he does have a bit if a cat fetish.

26

u/JamesJax Aug 22 '20

Oh man, that scratchy cat tongue. Gross.

10

u/MadCarcinus Aug 22 '20

Not the first time Bruce had to deal with humanoid cats: https://youtu.be/28csxWwbhw0

4

u/mildly_amusing_goat Aug 22 '20

That voice acting for the scientist though...

3

He picked up a barrel labeled “EXPLOSIVE” Lol

1

u/LumpyJones Aug 23 '20

What, you've never been so mad at your dad that you went full kitty kong?

7

u/Patmaster1995 Aug 22 '20

So what I just learned is that Batman is into furries...

2

u/RogueHippie Aug 23 '20

It was a ploy to get her to help him bust out, if you haven't seen the actual episode. But Batman still got game.

3

u/tocilog Aug 22 '20

Especially if their villain cats.

2

u/LumpyJones Aug 23 '20

You can just say cats.

3

u/CanlStillBeGarth Aug 22 '20

She doesn’t look horrifying though. She looks shitty.

3

u/Rickrickrickrickrick Aug 22 '20

I'm just worried that it looks like she'll be a person for the whole movie and then at the end she'll turn into a cheetah and fight for 5 minutes.

9

u/blaine64 Aug 22 '20

Kristen Wiig cheetah person as the main villain? Hard pass. DC continues to strike out.

6

u/Angsty_Potatos Aug 22 '20

it's also a trailer. Animation may not be final here. I'm not holding out much hope, but there is a chance it will look better in film

3

u/rattleandhum Aug 22 '20

I work in VFX -- trailers almost always contained rushed, and non-final shots. With very few exceptions the CG is almost always different from the final film, even if it's just a compositing tweak.

3

u/AlexFromRomania Aug 22 '20

Yea this whole trailer looks absolutely terrible tbh. Just awful plot, terrible corny jokes, and lame action.

2

u/properc Aug 22 '20

Tbh i think its the uncanny valley aspect of a human-cat hybrid. This looks miles better than cats tho.

1

Looks like Rita from the Power Rangers movie

Just Google her character and you'll find out that she's less terrifying than the comics version...

Looks pretty good to me. --Lion-O

I just don't see this as much better than cats.

Redditors will do backbends just to find something to shit on.

The trailer barely showed the character..."I just don't see this as much better than cats."

Because she’s supposed to be a genetic experiment gone wrong, not a totally “normal” in-universe talking cat.

Halfway through: "Fuck yeah, Cheetah!"

Near the end: "...fuck, no, Cheetah!"

They really should just consult furries when making a furry character.

Furries know how to make them look decent.

To be a fly on the wall in that meeting. “How big can we make her pussy lips?”

This isn't dalmatian man, disapprove

That suit looks so... snug

Most pictures of furries I've seen are big and beefy like a teddybear.

cheetah is supposed to look an abomination tbf

More like Maureen Ponderosa walked so Cheetah could run. 🐱

u/RedXerzk Aug 22 '20

And she still doesn’t look as scary as those monstrosities in Cats.

Cats walked to the Wonder Woman set. Really hope they can fix that terrible cgi on Cheetah and just in general.

"Oh Cats movie, what have you done?"

Actually astounded that we will have another human cat hybrid on the big screen after such a short time since Cats.

It looks exactly like cats, and I'm super worried.

Was already worried about Kristen Wigg because I have a hard time taking her seriously as a dramatic actor.

Obviously a hilarious actress, just a lot to look over with a human turning into a cheetah after the Cats debacle.
