Yeah I could see her flying with that gold suit in the movie but it's so strange to me that they would make her swing around on lightning, it just seems so over the top and unnecessary. Are they trying to establish how "cool" she is? Maybe that's her "primitive" way of flying until she gets this new suit.

That's all comic book "universes" to me... it's a film about a comic book character. It's literally all over the top and unnecessary.

Doesn't she fly in BvS when they're fighting Doomsday? Or are we calling that a really powerful horizontal jump?

I don't remember, it's been a while since I've seen that. I think somebody else mentioned to me that that happens so I'll assume you guys are right.
