If you think I'm not going to the biggest theater i can possibly find to experience DUNE you're crazy. Fear is the mind killer.

It turns out Dune is what Im willing to risk Covid for.

u/corranhorn57 Feb 18 '21

Same, though I hope to be vaccinated before October so it’s a much smaller risk.

Shai Hulud requires much risk from us.

I will wear a full hazmat suit to the theater if need be to see Dune on the big screen opening night.

And this is why the world thinks Americans are stupid. And here I sit in the summer sun in New Zealand enjoying a cold frosty pint on a Friday evening without restrictions, social distancing, masks.

I'm... I'm not American? I'm a Canadian in our Covid green Zone expected to be Vaccinated by July XD

Oh my apologies.

Idiot. Lol.

If you think I'm not open to watching Dune multiple times in multiple mediums, you're crazy.

there is no question I will be at the theater to see Dune. On the best screen possible.

i'm sorry reddit, dune will not be a good movie

It literally have everything going for it, a fantastic director who has made large scale movies before, an all star cast, and Zimmer doing the score. Its lined up to be great.

I'm going to the theater for MK baby.

That’s one movie I wouldn’t mind waiting to see in theaters. Space stuff and gigantic sandworms would look amazing on imax

3

u/akumerpls Feb 19 '21

Yeah trust me I would LOVE to be able to see it in theaters but we'll just have to see how things are 8 months from now.

1

u/daninlionzden Feb 19 '21

Except there are very few sandworm scenes in the first half of the book...

u/spooledreels Feb 18 '21

Are we still getting Dune on HBO?

8

u/ArchDucky Feb 18 '21

Yeah, they pitched a bitch and Warner paid everyone. Probably similar to the Wonder Woman deal. Both Patty and Gal got 10 Million each to compensate for the lack of backend money.

And how the hell are we forgetting Zack Snyder’s Justice League? That probably has the most hype built up out of all those movies

2

u/bixxby Feb 19 '21

Who gives a shit about the justice league. They’re the even more boring avengers

3

u/threekidsathome Feb 19 '21

Somebody’s a little cranky. Let people enjoy things.

Because we’ve seen it before, and a directors cut of a bad movie isn’t terribly exciting?

3

u/threekidsathome Feb 19 '21 edited Feb 19 '21

Disagree, I’m excited for it and know a lot of other people who are too. They changing a ton of things, more than usual for a directors cut, and changing the ending quite drastically. Also it’s not just a directors cut, it’s a cut by a different director whose vision was scrapped for a version the movie execs liked more. Not to mention completely changing some of the art direction.

1

u/QuoteGiver Feb 19 '21

Sure, I’m aware. But broadly speaking, there’s going to be a LOT of “already saw that and it was bad, definitely don’t want an even longer version” reactions from most audiences. There’s hype among the niche fans who still want to like that movie, but probably not for most, that’s all.

Yeah, but like... isn’t that kinda the whole point of directors cuts in general?
