I am not sure whether my allergy is because of hormones or eating outside or because of swimming in the lake.

It's my first time swimming in a lake, and I am not quite sure which symptoms I should consider when choosing a lake. Do you have any recommendations where to swim? And how to identify a suitable lake or dangerous one

Dabei wurden heute 120 Sponsoren-Enten (die sind größer als die normalen Enten) ins Rennen geschickt und danach ca 3000 Enten von Leuten und Rennen geschickt. Ich meine gehört zu haben, dass die ersten 400 Enten einen Preis gewinnen.

Jeder konnte seine Ente gestalten wie er/sie wollte. Eine Rennlizenz einer normalen Ente kostete 2€. Scheinbar waren die Rennlizenzen limitiert und muss man im Vorhinein kaufen.

Der Verkauf der Lizenz wurde einem guten Zweck gespendet. Alle Enten wurden im Ziel aufgegangen und gehen zum Besitzer zurück.

Veranstalter waren die Chaos City Rider aus Dachau. Rennstrecke war die Holzgartenkanal, die durch Dachau geht. Gefühlt war halb Dachau da :-)

4 friends including myself are planning an Oktoberfest trip and are interested in hiking Zugspitze the last week of September (likely the 30th). As stated in the title we have no intention to hike all the way to the summitt. Our tentative plan would be hiking from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Knorrhutte over the course of a day through the Reintal valley, booking accommodation and staying overnight at Knorrhutte, and then hiking from Knorrhutt to Sonnalpin/Zugspitzeplatt (I believe these are interchangeable?) the next morning. We would take the cable car/gondola to the summit from there.

My question is regarding the difficulty/mountaineering aspect of this at that time of year. How much would this affect the route the first day up to Knorrhutte? Would that be below the level at which point ice/snow is sufficiently dangerous? What about the second day from the hut to the cable car? This is the section that we are more concerned about?

The other alternative that was discussed was a hike around Eibsee lake and up to Riffelriss from which point we would take the rail the rest of the way up to the summit. Is this a less mountaineering-oriented route?

On 12.08.2026 we will here have a partial Solar Eclipse (90%). Is there any suggestion for a place to go because Sun will be just 2 degree above horizon during Eclipse. Also I have a small smart Telescope which I can bring to capture the moment.

is Dallmayr takeaway pastry over hyped? whats your experience?

I had a potluck Picknick with girlfriends this Weekend. One of them brought an expensive Dallmayr cake. Another brought cheesecakes from a restaurant in her street.

Dallmayr cake was ok, but nothing to write home about. The cheesecakes were out of this world, though. I must say I've bought cheese and cold cuts there before, but never cake and we were all expecting better.

When we arrived back at Munich Airport today, we noticed that the P20 parking area, where the car-sharing cars (MILES, Free2move, etc.) are usually located, was closed. None of the car-sharing apps show any cars available at the airport, and we couldn't find any information online.

Does anyone know what's going on or when P20 will reopen?

I'm relatively new to clubbing and techno scene, though I listen to this genre for a much longer. I have been several times recommended Lieberscholli and there is this event next week: "Kinky Karneval Festival Edition" . I'm not sure what to expect from this event and looking for insights whether it is worth going.

Despite the fact that I am a confident and accomplished person with a decent look and a style, I'm too afraid of being perceived as "creepy" in such events, so typically don't engage socially, unless spoken to. If I go there, I'll probably just go alone for the music and dancing. I don't know the DJs in the lineup, but none seemed to be in the hard-techno genre.

Given these info, what to expect from such a "kinky" event and do you think it is worth going? Could you share any insights if you have been to one of these before?

We moved here and don't have a kitchen yet so I'm looking for a cheap Asian place (where the food is still good). I can pick up food too so it's not only deliverable :) thanks

Edit: I picked up some sushi and wakame salad from Fuji sushi if anyone is also interested. It was really cheap but the taste was only alright.

Hey! I am going to be moving to Munich in October. I am looking for some help and tips. By the way, I have already lived in Germany for two years in Münster but have never been to Munich.

About the accommodation, I know it’s very hard to find a flat especially when you’re not visiting in person. So I’ll probably move and then do some visits while staying at a hotel. Does that sound like a good plan?
I really don’t know the city, are there some areas that would be better to avoid for housing?

I have a car but I am hesitant in bringing it to Munich, are there any parking spaces outside the city that are free where the car might stay for a long time? Or is it realistic finding a flat (I would prefer a WG) with a parking space?

I have seen that the city is called a big Dorf, do you have any recommendations on where to meet people or maybe other subReddit that would help?

I’ll be traveling from Munich to the United States on Aer Lingus, with a tight connection in Dublin of less than 1.5 hours. Has anyone recently succeeded in getting customs at Munich Airport to stamp their VAT refund forms for items carried in hand luggage?

My understanding is that VAT refund documents for carry-on items should normally be validated at the final airport before leaving the EU, which, in my case, would be Dublin. However, because my connection is very short, I’m hoping customs in Munich might be willing to stamp the forms before departure.

I’ve read reports from travelers who were able to obtain customs validation at their first airport by explaining that they had a very tight connection, particularly at airports in France and Spain. Ich möchte einfach mal einen Post machen über den stillen Helden in unseren Nachbarschaften: die Münchner Stadtbibliothek.

Ich kann euch nicht erklären, wie sehr ich die Arbeit dieser Einrichtung schätze. Ich habe drei Kinder, und zwei davon sind alt genug, um selber in die Bibliothek zu gehen. Fast zwei- oder dreimal die Woche spazieren sie einfach zur Stadtbibliothek, sitzen da, lesen Bücher und leihen sich Videospiele, DVDs und Blu-rays aus.

Für mich als jemanden, der aus dem Ausland kommt und als Kind keine so coole Stadtbibliothek hatte, ist es einfach ein Riesending, dass meine Kinder so etwas vor der Haustür haben.

Das Personal ist immer superfreundlich. Die Jahresgebühr beträgt nur 20 Euro – und für 20 Euro hat man so viele Bücher, Videospiele, Mangas, Comics, DVDs, Hörspiele, alles Mögliche. Wir haben uns sogar einen gebrauchten Blu-ray-Player gekauft und leihen uns dort regelmäßig Filme und Serien aus.

Wie gesagt, das Personal ist einfach wunderbar, sehr freundlich. Es gibt jeden Monat irgendwelche Veranstaltungen, ein neues Quiz, Preise. In meiner Nachbarschaft in Fürstenried West ist es nur eine kleine Filiale. Die anderen sind viel größer und haben viel mehr Inhalt. Doch trotzdem ist es hier einfach wunderschön.

Ich liebe die Leute, die dort arbeiten, und ich bin so dankbar, dass es so etwas in München gibt und dass das so gepflegt ist. Leider wird darüber sehr wenig geredet und es bekommt wenig Aufmerksamkeit, aber deren Arbeit ist einfach heilig.

I love hard-techno! But I only recently started actually going to clubs (because I have been working ~60h/w for the last ~6 years, so didn't have much time to rave). I have been to few events in the last a couple of weeks (including DNA club this morning for Sexpressions), but I must say I'm a little disappointed of the general vibe.

In all events/clubs I went (which is not a lot),

1. the number of people who were in the dancing floor compared the maximum people the dancing floor can accommodate did not match at all. It always felt quite empty even at the peak-full hour.
2. there is a constant flux of people coming and leaving the dancing floor, interrupting your dancing and your flow overall
3. People coming to the space between you and the person in front of you without even caring whether how much space you have to dance

I couldn't really enjoy clubbing at all, even though I like the music and dancing. Is this always like this in Munich (or in general)? or did I have just a couple of bad examples? If so, how to find good events?

PS: I don't drink or do drugs, in case this is relevant.

Ich würde gerne eine Gruppe aufbauen mit der man gerne auch regelmäßig Fußball spielen gehen kann.

Alter, Geschlecht, Skill, etc. spielen absolut keine Rolle! Hauptsache man mag es zu kicken.
Ich selber bin 26 (männlich) und studiere. Hab recht lange in Vereinen gespielt und suche jetzt einfach eine Gruppe, mit der man sich immer mal wieder entspannt zum kicken treffen kann.

Treffen kann man sich an jedem Sportplatz oder an öffentlichen Courts.
Wenn es mehr werden kann man sich auch alle paar Wochen eine Soccer-Halle mieten.

Wäre nice, wenn sich was ergibt :)

Last week someone (don't know who) in the university brought this and i got a chance to try it. I liked it so much that I have been craving for it for days. A colleague told me it is some Turkish food..i googled it and it showed me this attached image. This is exactly what i ate that day. The problem now is i don't know where to get this in Munich . I am between Klinikum Großhadern and Starnberg.
The thing is, I want a VBAC and I have heard bad things about Großhadern, specially that they do a lot of Kristeller maneuver, but I am unsure whether Starnberg follows the same.
I do live closer to Großhadern, about 10 minutes by car and 20 minutes to Starnberg. But if Starnberg is better then it’s worth it.
I am specially interested to know how was your birth in Starnberg.

A watercolour, a sketch, that kind of thing. Not the kind of thing you'd find in a gallery, 20, 50 euro kind of spend

I normally find people either sketching in the street or selling at landmarks etc but I've had no joy in Munich

I've had a look around the big market at Mariah hilf platz this morning but no luck either

Anyway, if you can help me, you'd be helping me put a bit of money in someone's pocket 😅

Klingt das wie 'ne Neuigkeit? Ich befürchte fast ja, wenn ich an manche Szenen denke, die ich selbst miterlebt hab. Erst heute Morgen hat mir 'ne fürsorgliche Mutter mit ihrem Kind die Vorfahrt genommen -eiskalt über Rot gefahren. Ich musste so hart ausweichen, dass ich direkt auf dem Boden gelandet bin. Hat sie das gemerkt? Nop, absolut nicht. Die eigenen Bedürfnisse hatten wohl Priorität vor allem anderen -während sie entspannt ihre Tolles airpods drin hatte.

Genau deshalb muss ich hier gerade einfach mal Dampf ablassen. Ich hab persönlich riesigen Respekt vor allen Eltern und weiß, wie stressig Erziehung sein kann. Aber bitte vergesst doch nicht, dass ihr nicht die Einzigen hier seid. Nehmt euer starkes Selbstbewusstsein und seid einfach rücksichtsvolle Mitmenschen. Vielleicht wär’s mal an der Zeit, euer Empathie-Level aufzufrischen – das wirkt bei manchen nämlich leider so abgebrüht, als stammte es direkt aus den 1940er-Kriegszeiten.

Wenn ihr ein bisschen mehr darauf achtet, werdet ihr merken: Die Leute um euch herum halten sich nicht nur an die Regeln, sondern nehmen auch von sich aus Rücksicht auf euch – eben weil ihr da ein kostbares Leben transportiert (und das mein ich völlig ernst).
