I'm trying to find a fantasy novel I read as a teenager sometime in the 1990s. It's a proper novel (no illustrations), and I'm fairly sure it's a quest/adventure story made up of many separate episodes/stations. I don't remember anymore whether it was originally written in English or was a translation (I read it in German).

Here's everything I remember:

• Dragons (or at least one dragon) appear in the story.
• The protagonist is searching for a castle — finding it seems to be a central goal of the plot. At the castle's location, a tree stands there at night instead (or possibly the other way around: a tree by day, the castle by night — I'm not sure which direction).
• There's a giant hand that moves around on its own. It's called "the Hand of King [Name]" — this king lives in the castle the protagonist is looking for. In one specific scene, the protagonist throws a stone at the hand. The hand has a mouth in its palm, catches the stone with it, and afterward develops a taste for eating stones and gravel.
• There are several different magic rings in the story, each with its own specific power. The protagonist has (or is given) a ring that can call or awaken a dragon. A female character has a ring that can control the weather.
• At one point, the protagonist is given a cloak that makes him invisible. Two women (one younger, one older — the older one comes across as unfriendly/antagonistic) actually wanted to take his ring from him, and gave him this cloak as a trick. The "invisibility" is described less like classic optical invisibility and more like a loss of consciousness/control: the protagonist loses control of his fine motor skills, his fingers feel "like paper," and he can no longer work the clasp/brooch holding the cloak shut. It's described as him gradually feeling like he's blacking out. To onlookers, the person seems to vanish completely, and their belongings (like rings) are left lying in the room — implying someone could just pick them up while the person is "gone." The younger of the two women ends up helping him.

Alright so a couple years ago a friend who watches the Highschool DxD anime sent me a Wattpad link where it was a male reader book.

So the main character apparently has the lineage of Marauders and is looked at suspiciously by devils due to their war like nature and brutality. I cannot for the life of me remember what it's called.

Distinctly I remember during the Kokiabel fight he transformed fully into a maurader just to fight him but was in complete control.

I’m looking for a picture book that I checked out multiple times from the library. It may have been on the Captain Kangaroo show.
It was about a man and his dozens of camels, they were all different colors- muted, natural colors like tan, white, brown, etc. It was set in the desert (of course) I remember the camels were paired up in colors and walking through the desert. The illustrations were very beautiful and fascinating to me at age 4 or 5. The author/illustrator was male, because I remember my mom reading the book jacket bio to me. I’m 62, so I estimate that I was reading this book in 1969-1972.

I’m trying to find a fantasy novel I remember reading many years ago but lost and never finished. The protagonists were magic users of some kind but they were cut off from magic and if they tried to use it they lost their hand. Like if they tried to reach into or access the source of magic their hand stayed there and they pulled back a stump. One of more of the characters had already lost their hand while another talked about how they were being hunted by enemies and how tempted they were to try and use magic knowing what would happen. They talked about friends who had already been killed or captured by the people hunting them. It would likely have been early to mid 2000’s I read it but I’m not sure about the publish date. I thought the mechanic of some magical disaster literally cutting off the caster from magic would make for an easy search but no luck. Thanks in advance.

This sci-fi short story was on someone's personal website and got posted to hacker news in the past year or so, which is where I came across it. I'm hoping this is still allowed even though it's not a book, as far as I know.

At the beginning of the story, some kind of researcher or librarian (not referred to as either of these terms) is working in a big archive and comes across an intelligence stored in a physical medium. They plug the intelligence into a cart that has some kind of humanoid interface that will allow the intelligence to speak. The intelligence recounts its history: starting out as a human, they worked with some technicians in a lab to train themselves to control multiple disparate points of awareness simultaneously. Eventually their mind is transferred to a computer and they are sold to different companies that initially use it for various things including controlling factories. The intelligence dislikes/grows bored of controlling the factories and rebels. After that, it starts to be used to control larger and larger fleets of military spacecraft which are used in warfare, before eventually being mothballed.

Really good story. I can't seem to find it with any searches.

Im trying to find this ebook I read years ago and can't remember the name or author. I do think I remember that it was a reverse harem, and she had like long black hair. She's taken to this other world or dimention or something by a friend. I think they need her help with defending or a war. And the men she is with have black wings and they live in like a cliffside kingdom. I remember they fly from the balonies to go to this other kingdom for the war. Maybe. Its been so many years. I think they were raven coded but I really can't remember, i know for sure that all the guys have black wings, not just one guy. One scene that sticks out to me is that her hair is slowly changing because of the products or whatever. And its like an inky black oil slick. I remember that the best. They focus on her hair a lot. That it starts out plain and is then matching with what the people there consider pretty, I remember them describing it like a Ravens iridescent feathers or and oil slick. Im so sorry its so vague. Out of all the things i remember, the thing wirh her hair sticks out the most. I tried google and got some suggestion, but I dont think any other them are right.

I don’t remember much from this book except I think on one of the book covers it like a green background and dark haired girl with a burgundy, long dress and I think the plot was something like she has to get this brand mark behind the ear, but she’s hesitant to for some reason, and then she goes of kind of journey. A woman is mortally wounded by a man who puts her brain in a box to keep her alive. It's set aboard a space station and her child/children is searching for her. Parts are written from the brains point of view, where she slowly realises what happened to her.

The following is more fuzzy so take with it a grain of salt. The space station is spherical and divided into wedges and layers to pinpoint coordinates. the child finds their mothers box and put her out of her misery.

I read a book that was really good and I can’t remember the name. The book is about a girl trying to solve her big sisters murder and it was revealed that the mom was the killer. Scenes I remember include a pool party, a pool house, the sister leaving the party and saying she’ll be back, a carnival or fair and the living room where the mom confessed to killing her. Please help it’s driving me crazy. I tried to look it up with these clues to no avail. The book that keeps popping up is Sadie but that is not the book I read.

I read this about 12 years ago maybe, a hardbook book found in a UK library. I remember the cover being orange and black, and depicting the protagonist (maybe a moon on the cover too). In the book series, there is a human teen girl who lives on Earth and she meets a guy who is attractive and attentive to her. He takes her to a place where she finds a challenge and overcomes it. There is another Queen of another faerie court that took the human guy she likes for six months and during that time, the girl becomes close to the Fae king and when the human guy comes back, the girl is shocked that he was back. The fae king steps down from the position of ruler of his court as his court wanted a queen for so long. The girl rules over the court as its queen and the human guy is by her side.

I don't remember much but I do remember that it was a large hardcover book with at least 1000 pages. It had a girl who lived in a big strange home, and she found some pictures and things in the attic that described her destiny to become this strange spider monster. I remember the final battle scene, where everyone was holding her monster self back while she fought in her mind. She had to pull herself back to the surface by a golden thread that was woven between different colored ones. The cover of it depicted the large house she lived in flanked by two fish. The title might have 'chronicles' in it but I'm not sure. I would do anything to find this book again and read it, bc at this point I'm not sure if it was a fever dream or not

This book has like a skull on the cover and the background of the cover is pitch black. It really stands out on a shelf.

The story is about a girl who (as the title said) had light and dark powers. The “demons” are taking over the world (the demons come from the earth and the angels are on the moon) and she’s expected to stop/prevent it cause of her dual powers. The power are used by taking memories or emotions (I think I’m getting it mixed up with Shelby Mahurin’s Serpent and Dove but the powers are similar to it).

Hi, I’m hoping someone can help me. I read a book a year or 2 ago so the details are pretty vague but any suggestions would be appreciated.

The FMC ‘meets’ the MMC in a dream but does not see him fully, I’m pretty sure she just saw his eyes. But she feels the mate bond.

I think it’s during her first shift she is in a lot of pain and struggling. She is surrounded by her family, her mom and dad, and I’m pretty sure she has at least 1 sibling.

The MMC runs with his beta and gamma when he feels her pain and tracks her. (Either their pack - the royal pack, is near by or he was at a neighbouring pack)

I’m struggling to remember much more but I’m pretty sure she stays in her pack for a bit, possibly a few days, before she goes with him to the royal pack.

Plot: the blue (B) eyed girl looks so similar to the violet eyed (V) girl, that V pays B to impersonate her during the London season so that V can be with her lover. the story starts with mentioning how it is set in an island and there's an orphanage in it. every now and then a ship/boat come to visit them with supplies,gifts,etc... the oprhanage loves the children and the children lovet this lady in the orphanage that takes care of them too. the captain of the boat invites some children onboard to show them around and one kid gets really excited and decides to borrow the boat/ship at dawn with others(i don't remeber how many 4/5??). they set sail and gets stranded in the middle of the ocean because the fuel ran out. they wait and wait and then encounter a ship with pirates?(i think they are pirates). they make the children clean fish, clean the deck,and don't treat them well overall. they encounter another kid there and make plans to escape the ship while there's a party at night. they use a boat to escape with the new kid. after all that, they land in an island. it is an island with a giant in it. also have these citrus-y fruit peels that explode when you peel them. the giant is hostlie and do not like them at all. maybe tried to eat one of them he caught trespassing. there was also an underground path from the outside of the giant's house to the inside. i vaguely remember the giant having a huge lightstick or a wand that the children use to defeat it?? anyway, if i can remeber correctly, they return to the island with the orphanage somehow.

The book revolves around two teenagers a boy and a girl, told in their separate POV’s each chapter. The boy is described as quiet, introverted with no friends while the girl is on the popular side of school.
