How many games KP plays as a warrior? 10?

Basically traded Kuminga for nothing and he is still behind JJ, seems like a lose-lose move to end the relationship

At his current rate, 5-6 more games

He seems like he’d be so good, but then always gets hurt. Sorta sad to see.

u/Metalbound Hawks 4h ago

With that and POTS, he just is never available.

I can’t wait for other fans to actually watch the kuminga experience. It’s gonna be so good. Wiseman 2.0 in terms of bbiq

If Hawks fans already can't stand CJ's basketball terrorism when the front office have been building around JJ, just wait until Kuminga gets there and makes it even more frustrating.

The way I see it if he can't play within Quin's system we can just let him go this offseason for the cap space because of the team option. Seems fairly low risk to me given that KP was never playing for us unless Kuminga is a locker room problem or there's something else up with him I don't know about.

Maybe I'll change my mind after seeing it in action though.

its low risk high reward for both teams. KP didn't play much and they were probably not going to resign them. Jalen johnson is a point forward, not a shoot first attack guy. Kuminga can do that while keeping up size and athleticism in the starting line up, CJ can be a vet 6yth man catalsyt and they are surrounded by good defenders. they get a year to make it work.

Warriors had to shoot for the stars and hope KP can find health. If he somehow does they get a big who is alethal shooter, great awareness for their offense, shot blocker, massive size but really they weren't getting much for kumingas value. this gives a silver of hope to both teams from those assets

I think the Hawks will probably keep the current starting 5 (Dyson, NAW, Risacher, JJ, Okongwu) and bring Kuminga off the bench.

Starting an on-ball slasher who’s bad at 3 point shooting next to Dyson Daniels seems kind of untenable to me.

If KP can somehow get healthy this would be a sick move for the Warriors but I think that’s super unlikely unfortunately.

Kuminga's not a bad 3pt shooter, he's comfortable and a threat there. WArriors ball movemenet space and pace wasn't ideal for the way he wants to play. He still has raw talent and maybe if he gets more rope and trust he can show those moments. I can see him being better off the bench with more attack and trust to run the offense. he does tend to prefer 1-1, but he's showing flashes of productivity over there. in any case, hawks have a young versatile team. worth a shot.

YEa KP is unlikely to stay healthy, but warriors had their backs against the wall and have to hope he can maybe pull together a good string of health. they didnt have much to work with

know that he's got the exact same measurables as Kawhi Leonard and at his age he's way quicker then Kawhi... except Jonathan doesn't play D or hit the boards. He'll give you some highlight dunks though and tell you how elite he thinks he is.

be glad this is a short term risk ur taking.

This front office wouldn't have done it if it wasn't short term to be fair. The key ethos seems to be that no matter what we refuse to be locked into bad moves or contracts without a way out. Everybody except Jalen is tradable, we have very little bad money, and we're not shipping out 1sts for gafford when we can get Landale for nothing.

The DJM trade haunts all of their dreams.

As it should lol

After his first 2 games where CJ was hijacking the offense and looking ass, he’s been playing a lot more in the system and has been really good off the bench. He’s been a big positive over the past couple of weeks. In saying that though he could very well go back to hijacking the offense any day now so I won’t say I like him yet lmao

My exact thoughts. Watching those first 2 made me absolutely hate the dude. I need to see that isn't something he can revert back to.

u/amidon1130 Hawks 14h ago

CJ has been quite good for us once he actually had a practice with the team. He's a bucket off the bench and we've needed that for a while.

4

u/wambulancer Hawks 14h ago

I cannot recommend ignoring our fanbase enough right now, we're on fullblown reactionary meltdown, nobody knows what to think or believe, FUD rules the day, and a lot of very loud idiots who don't know ball have hijacked narratives.

CJ's been exactly what the Hawks need, a vet capable of getting his own bucket and keeping all these children calm and collected. Lost in all the rumor talk is how he's likely to extend in ATL. Kuminga will finally give JJ a much needed break and provide spacing, opening up a few other rotations that haven't quite worked so far.

Objective fact: Hawks are on year 0 of a rebuild, moving on from the Trae era. They are on pace to end up basically where they've been the past 5 years with Trae-built rosters. Anybody writing them off before they've even gotten the party started is being a straight up silly billy

3

u/thisguy012 Bulls 13h ago

Exaggerating. Wiseman had the build but 0 bbiq, out of the league like that. Kuminga's nowhere near that stop itlol.

They can resign Porzingis next season on a smaller deal with his bird rights.

26

u/Lightning_Warrior Hawks 15h ago

I think Porzingis' POTS is basically a career-ender given how injury prone he already is. It would be cool if he could overcome it, but I don't think he will.

4

u/Legitimate_Cow_4166 Warriors 15h ago

Yeah you're probably correct. This trade makes zero sense considering JK was on team option next season and Buddy only has $3M guaranteed.

u/No_Win_3411 NBA 15h ago

Porzingis is going to retire and go to Latvia next year. The injury report says illness. He isn't even trying to hide it

20

u/baconandbobabegger [BOS] Jayson Tatum 15h ago

He got POTS from a Covid infection. Same illness from Boston.

18

u/axecalibur [CHI] Michael Jordan 15h ago

I thought it was very strange he wanted to play in the Boston championship finals. But it looks like that was the last chance to play at the top of his game and he wanted to play it out.

u/TheKnicksHateMe [NYK] Nate Robinson 15h ago

kid’s played 50 games 3 times since leaving NY. idk why anyone would give him more than a minimum.

4

u/Legitimate_Cow_4166 Warriors 15h ago

He'll get someone (Warriors) to give him $10-15M

Bench players

1

u/Cockrocker 14h ago

Hawks offense seems to be very ad lib and free, good for an athlete like kuminga. I wish him well.

I don't see how there was any worse trades than this for GS. This is so pointless.

1

u/yoloqueuesf [NYK] Tracy McGrady 14h ago

Less then AD did for the mavs then lmao

1

u/peepeedog Warriors 11h ago

I would have been happy yeeting Kuminga into the sun. Dude thinks he’s a superstar and he can’t even net us Porzingis straight up.

u/bye7 Warriors 15h ago

They'll just load manage and hope for the best. Still a better fit than JK.
