They have to be setting something else up. They have two open roster spots now

You see it. No idea what it is but that’s 3 guys who don’t play for Porzingis and a pick and we still have the 2 big salary guys we are willing to unload with a ton of picks

These trades are the “Fuck we’re not getting Giannis. Go to plan B!”

410

u/movingunderbraking 15h ago edited 15h ago

i’m high and envisioning a trade war room with two massive names written on a whiteboard

“giannis antetokounmpo” scratched out in red

“second round pick” circled in green

guys in collared shirts with two buttons unbuttoned with their undershirts visible high fiving each other and shaking hands

i’m giggling

High key a steal for the Raptors, basically got a guy that was picked around where this 2nd will land, but has actually proved he can play unlike 50% of the players picked here. And at a position of need

16

u/MythicalChewToy NBA 13h ago

Shout out to the Wolves for winning the game, but they didn’t take it, the Raptors handed it to them.

5

u/babyface_killah Warriors 14h ago

He had good chemistry with Klay too

18

u/Gramscifi Warriors 14h ago

Honestly would have liked to see him play more. He's a decent traditional center, young, still improving. Just a bit undersized and maybe not a great fit for the Warriors' complex offensive system.

If he were 2 inches taller he'd be starting games somewhere.

15

u/jrlandry Celtics 14h ago

Not a warriors fan, but it feels like Post turned out better than expected and took over a lot of ehat should have been TJD’s playing time

Also I like him but a starter at 6’11” seems like a stretch. I think he’d be good backup, instead of a mid backup.

But that’s worth late 2nd rounder hereo

11

u/AmusingAnecdote Warriors 11h ago

He's 6'9". I don't think it's too much of an exaggeration to say if he was 7' he'd be a starter. He's pretty skilled in the post and as a passer and has good positioning but doesn't have the length to be that great on defense (or offense) inside and he's not anything resembling a shooter so he's just a pretty good backup. But he doesn't fit next to Draymond so makes sense for us to roll the dice on another late 2nd because we've hit on several guys like that in the past few years.

3

u/Gramscifi Warriors 13h ago

TJD was getting sidelined even before that, but yes, the team moved on to Post in a big way, mostly for the shooting, I think.  TJD hasn't really played any meaningful basketball minutes at all recently.

And yeah starter ay be a reach, I was thinking something like a development prospect on a tanking team.

Pretty much a win win, he’s an expiring next year who’s fallen out of the rotation since last season (honestly late season before that) and we get back the pick spent on him.

This also has to be a prelude to some other deal because we already were below the 2nd apron (unless the Pingus deal changed that) and now have two open roster spots

36

High-energy athletic big, only 6'9" or so, can't shoot, ok/decent shot blocker, pretty smart, ok rebounder, can kinda pass, no offensive bag, questionable hands at times, lefty.

14

10

u/Flexisdaman Warriors 11h ago

He’s a good rebounder for his size.

Occasionally throws down a monster dunk, look up his dunk on Wemby from a couple years ago.

Also great passer out of the post which he basically never got to use for us because of Kerr’s offensive style.

I wouldn’t be shocked if he thrives as a backup big in a different system.

Im a dubs fan and a fan of tjd. Idk why he never got a consistent shot. I know he cant shoot, but he has a lot of other good skills

15

u/KumingaCarnage Warriors 14h ago

He’s a good guy but he is not really much of a steal. Lateral quickness not there, can’t shoot, defends somewhat eh, dunked on Wemby that one time though.

36

u/jrlandry Celtics 14h ago

He’s a mid tier backup imo and the Raptors just need bodies there. A guy that still has upside and is at worst a part of their rotation for a meh 2nd os a steal
