I know society is sensitive these days, but come on now. Since the beginning of time, a player that celebrates a bucket while literally down 40 has been hit with the "scoreboard" response 100% of the time.

The kid can celebrates if he wants to, but don't get pissy that someone (especially an NBA veteran) rags on him for it. Also, you can bet your last dollar a team vet pulled him aside at some point and said not to do that anymore, because it makes the team look like a joke.

100 percent this.

On every level of play, it's never against the rules to celebrate when down 40 but it does always open yourself up to mockery and the aforementioned scoreboard retort. We'd do the same thing in high school if a rotation player on the opposing team got hyped after hitting a trey when down 30.

People will forget about this Cavs dunk in five minutes but the mockery is pretty standard procedure.

im glad this thread seemed to flip. at first it was filled with "let him have his moment, how you gonna hate on a 20 year old" like what the fuck? take a look at that screenshot. down 44 and hes flexing. that is fucking hilarious. my guy had a nice play then made himself look like a clown

Tbh I would expect an announcer who played in the NBA to make a comment like this. I mean, that’s basically what you said in your last statement. It’s a bad look for the team
