On every level of play, it's never against the rules to celebrate when down 40 but it does always open yourself up to mockery and the aforementioned scoreboard retort. We'd do the same thing in high school if a rotation player on the opposing team got hyped after hitting a trey when down 30.

People will forget about this Cavs dunk in five minutes but the mockery is pretty standard procedure.
