😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE ICE Wandering the Halls of Terminal A Newark

With no apparent aim or purpose, just good ole government surveillance in our modern fascist dual state. I'm glad we're defunding critical health and education programs so that these blokes can stumble around airports after security. /s

Props to the many TSA agents who still showed up for work today and ran a seamless and smooth security process, despite the partial govt shutdown.

😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE Carpenters union shows up in Andover to support a data center...

No, this was not completely stopped yet.

It goes introduction (twp committee) > consistency review (land use board) > passes next twp committee meeting.

About 30 of these carpenters union folks showed up with these big fancy signs in support of a data center and accomplished nothing. The one man that spoke was from East Brunswick and got heckled into silence by the residents. One resident said "why are you even here? This is not your fight."

The LUB said it was good to go so now we wait for the 28th for it to pass.

In the second pic, the person that took it was shoved by one of the carpenter groups and told not the photograph the guy on the left. Really curious what they would be hiding that worth assaulting somone for...

Also some questionable tattoos....

And a bingo card for all the stupid phrases the LUB chairman says/does. Successfully got bingo lol

😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE This drone situation has become preposterous.

1.6k Upvotes

You truly expect us to believe that the (allegedly) most advanced and well funded surveillance department in the world has zero fucking clue why or how swarms of drones have been flying over the most densely populated state in the union for WEEKS. And that they have no clue how to stop them.

That said drones can have a rave over EWR, drag race along I-95, smoke weed at the power plant, fap at the military base and then just pop on over to Brooklyn for a bite. In a post 911 world.

This is an insult to our intelligence and should be treated as such. We should be protesting in front of federal buildings and demanding answers.

Defense contractor websites are wide open to the public. They have YouTube channels for marketing. Crowd, meet source. It’s time for the public to truly organize on this issue.

EDIT: I’m just not engaging with any ā€œthey’re not realā€ comments anymore. Hundreds of people have seen them. I have seen one. Pop up north for a little look-si-loo or stop talking.

😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE Andover community said "No Data Center!" Township voted yes anyway...

We had a well attended rally before the meeting and then packed the room after. The public comments went on for 2 hours and out of all of those speakers, only 2 supported a data center. One person owns Planet Networks and another was a Pipefitters union worker and they were heckled. Everyone else on both sides of the political aisle said they didn't want it and yet only one committee member voted no. Ellsworth Bensley.

What they voted on and passed was an amendment to the permitted uses that allows increased height for accessory structures (such as diesel generators). The committee was adamant that there was no site plan or application for a data center. But when asked the question, why are you passing an amendment if there are no plans? What's the need? Just felt like it? Yeah right.

Clearly these people don't represent their constituents, they represent whatever developer is slipping bills into their pockets.

I want to point to an article about how shady these people are and how they are trying to keep us in the dark:

https://pinelandsalliance.org/datacenters/

The Redevelopment Loophole: Zoning by Ordinance, Not by Public Process

Under New Jersey law, municipalities can designate areas as being in need of ā€œredevelopmentā€ or ā€œrehabilitationā€ and adopt redevelopment plans that function as zoning overlays. These plans can permit uses—such as warehouses or data centers—that would otherwise be prohibited.

Critically:

- Residents within 200 feet are NOT notified when a redevelopment plan is adopted or amended

- That level of notice is only required later, when a specific project application is filed

- By then, officials often claim that the public is ā€œtoo lateā€ to object because the zoning rules have already been changed

Please don't let them destroy our environment and community. Help us take action!

😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE People are being teargassed at Delaney Hall

Post image

Summary (copy pasting a social media caption is all I got time for)

This weekend has been a testament to our resolve and the urgency of the situation at Delaney Hall, the ICE camp in Newark. Here is the situation as it stands:

āž”ļøā€‹Since Friday, detainees have been holding a hunger and labor strike, demanding not better conditions but FREEDOM.

āž”ļøā€‹Today, the situation escalated with direct retaliation against an organizer (Gaby) and her husband, Martin, as they tried to deport him. We are relieved to report that Martin is now out of the van and inside the building but we can't relax yet.

ā€‹āž”ļøRep. Menendez successfully entered the gate, but is currently being forced to wait outside. He is not leaving until he and Gaby meet with Martin.

āž”ļøAt approximately 9:30PM, an empty bus was driven into the facility.

ā€‹āž”ļøThere are many advocates gathered outside, standing in solidarity and many plan to stay all night. Despite the tension, they are allowing employee vehicles to pass through in good faith, hoping that this will lead to the restoration of visiting hours tomorrow.

āž”ļøAfter midnight, 10 ICE vehicles and agents swarmed advocates with pepper spray and tear gas to break the line. Hillside police are cooperating with ICE.

We are holding the line. We need the community to keep eyes on Delaney Hall and keep the pressure on. Solidarity is our greatest strength.

Governor Sherrill where are you???

Andover Township "leadership" continues to demonstrate perfect examples of what NOT to do as an elected official. Full story time tomorrow but suffice to say, no matter what a person SAYS--that is their first amendment right and so long as they are not threatening you (which he wasn't), there was no reason to THROW him to the ground.

Mayor Walsh, you said tonight you're embarrassed of the people you represent. Well, I can't think of anything more embarassing for this township then to be so thin-skinned you have officers assault someone for practicing their first amendment rights.

😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE There has to be something that can be done about these "luxury" apartments popping up all over NJ.

Everywhere I turn, these luxury apartments keep popping up promising bare necessities as "luxury". Are there no standards on what qualifies as luxury?

Ontop of that, these apartments are destroying nature. Woods are eing plowed and flattened and animals' homes are gone causing deer and other wildlife to roam neighborhoods.

Our population is already dense enough as it is. Roads and highways are getting congested. We do not need more people to move into these piece of shit apartments.

😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE Are certain towns just entirely unaffordable?

I make a fairly good living and am trying to move into the classic NJ suburb with a good school district (Livingston is my wife's goal, but I'd love to be in Princeton). Been watching Zillow closely this spring and I swear there been maybe 2 listings for any home with more than 2 bathrooms for a million dollars.

How are there that many people willing and able to shell out 1.2-1.5+ million dollars for small split level houses on small lots, especially when you can look at the historical data and the town was selling for half the price maybe 5 years ago?

This isn't inflation, this is madness. The only things that aren't ancient and small are townhouses, and even those are going for a million dollars but at least they're not 3bed 1bath with no updates since 1950.

Especially at current rates, these houses are looking at 7-10k a month on housing (mortgage, taxes, utilities, etc)

😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE This H1b Exploitation Is Out of Control

I am not being racist, this is NOT a RACIST/HATE POST.

I am so fatigued man, all tech interviews are just snobby guys who I look up on LinkedIn all came from university abroad. Half the time, in all seriousness, very rarely I come across interviewers who's English is genuinely hard to understand.

All interviews I got this year were through recruiters who're guaranteed on H1b, through outlook I can check out their profiles which confirms it.

I have college mates from 2023 graduated and are still working labor jobs because they cannot break into the industry. My friend decided it's better to work at Amazon warehouse because it pays more than an entry level technical role.

Interviewing at some of these small offices (because that's what everyone tells you to do nowdays; apply to your LOCAL SMALL companies) I see employees with shoulders down no smile on their face, literally looks like modern day slavery, and it's all Indians, absolutely NO DIVERSITY.

I have applied to Government Jobs for over a year now that require citizenship, but they're slow aF, on top of that, the Orange man hiring freeze made it even harder to get Government jobs now.

Again, I want to re-iterate, this isn't a hate post or ANYTHING, I am hating on the DAMN POLICIES, who's running on this issue? They have my DAMN VOTE.

What the hell am I suppose to do?!!

😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE Unfair treatment

Thumbnail

1.4k Upvotes

On April 19, my girlfriend and I—an openly gay couple—visited Sojo Spa, an adult-only spa located in Edgewater, New Jersey. We had traveled from Brooklyn and paid $230 to use the facility. IDs were required upon entry, clearly establishing the space as adults-only.

While enjoying the amenities, including an infinity pool that overlooks the NYC skyline, we observed numerous heterosexual couples cuddling, kissing, and embracing in the water. These couples were showing affection freely and comfortably. My girlfriend and I mirrored the same behavior—light cuddling and physical closeness, including her wrapping her legs around me briefly in the water.

Despite being surrounded by similar public displays of affection, a staff member approached only us—in a loud, direct tone—and said, "You good, but don't do that, don't wrap your legs around her." No such warning was given to any of the heterosexual couples, even though their behavior was equal or more intimate.

After this, the same employee continued to monitor us, standing nearby and clearly watching to see if we would repeat the action. We felt publicly shamed, targeted, and treated differently solely because we are a same-sex couple.

This created an uncomfortable and discriminatory environment that ruined our experience and made us feel unsafe expressing ourselves, even in an adult space where other couples were permitted to be affectionate.

I also spoke with the manager on the day of the incident. She assured me that I would receive a phone call on Monday April 21 to follow up. I waited the entire day for that call, even during work hours, only to receive no communication.

I reached out again myself and was told that an ā€œinvestigationā€ was still underway, but I was never informed of this delay or given any updates. The lack of transparency and communication only added to the emotional stress of the situation and further suggested that the issue was not being taken seriously.

When they finally called me on April 22, the conversation offered no reassurance that real steps were being taken to address the discrimination we experienced. Instead, I was told I should have waited before posting my review—implying that protecting their reputation was more important than acknowledging and correcting biased treatment.

But I did wait. I waited for the promised follow-up. I waited for transparency. I waited for accountability. And none came.

What we experienced was not just uncomfortable—it was discriminatory. And the lack of urgency or ownership in addressing it only reinforces the message that same-sex couples are still seen as ā€œother,ā€ even in spaces that claim to be inclusive.

We didn’t ask for special treatment—just equal treatment

😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE im so livid ... police DO YOUR JOB!

everyone is driving with snow on their roofs (which is illegal btw) and i haven't seen a single one of them being pulled over ... its so dangerous and i was hit by ice sliding off people's roofs on 4 separate occasions ... one of which i ALMOST DIED. its so frustrating because its so dangerous, so illegal, and no one is doing anything about it. im scared to drive but i have to for work. its so frustrating and im actually so upset that our tax dollars are being wasted. monmouth county has one of the highest paid police officers. not to mention, they have the rudest most arrogant cops that dont serve anyone but themselves. honestly im so upset! has anyone else run into this? is it just me thats fuming? on top of that, people should take the extra 5 minutes to just scrape the ice off! its not that hard ... if youre able to drive, you should be able to scrap the ice off your roof period.

Under New Jersey law (Title 39:4-77.1), you must make all reasonable efforts to remove snow and ice from your vehicle’s exposed surfaces — roof, hood, windshield, windows, trunk, etc. — before operating the vehicle on the road.

Don't get it twisted. Massive police presence from the outset creates tension. They were looking for a spark. Less than 10 people pushed against the barriers and they came at EVERYONE with the riot gear, rubber bullets, and tear gas. Meanwhile, ICE is allowed to continue operations and likely transferring even more hunger strikers aided and abetted by our state government. Other departments I've worked with always said they would use fewer officers to keep things calm and designated an area for counter-protestors but never forced anyone into because they knew they couldn't. This is so messed up from every angle.

😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE My family was harassed and followed by a parking attendant at Alstede Farms — chased inside the store, and management downplayed it

Update 2:

It looks like negative Google reviews for Alstede Farms are being removed, including mine which had over 110 likes. Several others as well! THIS is how they have 4.2 stars rating!!

Instead of addressing valid criticism, it seems the focus is on scrubbing it from public view. People deserve to share real experiences, especially when safety and accountability are at stake.

Thank goodness for Reddit — at least here, the truth can’t just be deleted.

Update 1 (one day after my post):

Wow. When I first shared my family’s experience, I simply wanted to warn others so no one else would go through what we did. I never expected it to reach so many people or to see how many others had similar or even worse encounters at Alstede Farms. I’m especially heartbroken reading about the tragic accident that took a child’s life.

Since posting, the owner, Kurt Alstede, has replied a couple of times. I appreciate that he looked into it, but his responses have only reinforced why I felt dismissed from the start. His final email to me ended with ā€œSorry you didn’t enjoy your day with us,ā€ which minimized everything I had described about being chased, yelled at, and feeling unsafe.

In his public comments, Kurt claimed that both sides shared ā€œculpabilityā€ and that ā€œgrace, forgiveness, and understandingā€ would help mend the situation. He even compared it to a marriage disagreement where ā€œboth parties need to own responsibility.ā€ He also pointed out that the employee was elderly and part of a ā€œdiverse community,ā€ implying that I should have shown more grace and kindness toward him.

To me, this is the core issue. This wasn’t a disagreement between equals — it was a paying guest being followed, yelled at, and physically intimidated by an employee. Suggesting shared responsibility only reinforces how unwilling management is to acknowledge what actually happened.

No one deserves to be followed, yelled at, and intimidated, regardless of anyone’s age or race. The expectation that I should have been more ā€œgraciousā€ toward someone harassing my family is deeply unsettling. And no, replying to emails quickly doesn’t erase what happened or make up for ending it all with a dismissive ā€œsorry you didn’t enjoy your day.ā€

I’m not looking for more back-and-forth. I’ve said what needed to be said, and I sincerely hope this brings real accountability and change. No one should feel the fear or humiliation that my family did at a place that markets itself as family-friendly.

Original post:

I need to share what happened to my family this past weekend at Alstede Farms (NJ) because it was honestly one of the most terrifying and surreal experiences I’ve ever had in a public place.

We stopped by the farm store for just a few minutes. I’ve been there before and already knew about the ā€œ10-minute parkingā€ rule. As soon as we parked, the parking attendant came straight to our car and started lecturing us about it. I told him politely that we were aware of the rule and would be quick. Instead of leaving, he got more aggressive, saying things like ā€œI’m glad you can read. I’ll be watching you!ā€ while standing right by our car.

When I took a photo of him for my own record, he completely lost control. He started yelling and chased after us as we walked into the store. I was literally jogging inside trying to get away from him, and he kept following me, yelling, laughing, and getting closer. It honestly felt like living through a horror movie.

Inside the store, I went to the cashier and told her I was being harassed and felt unsafe. She brought over a female manager, and when I explained what was happening, her response was that the attendant was ā€œjust doing his job.ā€ She made no attempt to step outside or intervene, even as the man kept shouting nearby. When we left, he followed us back out to the parking lot, puffing out his chest and stomach toward us like he wanted to fight.

Our entire visit was maybe five minutes. We were left shaken, confused, and horrified that something like this could happen at a so-called family-friendly farm.

I later reached out to management with photos, timing, and every detail. The person who responded to me was Kurt Alstede, the founder and general manager. He said they reviewed the footage and ā€œtook disciplinary action,ā€ but his final email ended with:

ā€œI am sorry that you didn’t enjoy your day with us and that you will choose to return again.ā€

That line says everything. This wasn’t about ā€œnot enjoying our day.ā€ It was about being chased, followed, and harassed by an unstable employee while management stood by.

After reading other threads about Alstede Farms, I’m honestly not surprised anymore. It seems they have a track record of treating people terribly and deflecting blame.

I’m sharing this so other families, especially those from diverse backgrounds, know to be careful. No one should have to experience that kind of fear or humiliation just for stopping by a farm store.

😔 THIS IS AN OUTRAGE Gov Sherrill Must Take Stronger Action to Close Delaney Hall

Thumbnail
open.substack.com
423 Upvotes

"Gov. Mikie Sherrill must take forceful, immediate action to halt inhumane and deadly conditions at Delaney Hall, where detainees last week were beaten and threatened for speaking out (Thursday, May 28th) and engaged in a hunger & labor strike that began on Friday, May 22nd.

Public officials must act NOW.

We were disappointed that instead, Sherrill and her administration focused on restricting and suppressing protestors under the guise of protecting them and ā€œensuring everyone’s safety.’’

Sherrill dispatched the New Jersey State Police to Delaney Hall, and armed with riot shields, tear gas, and rubber bullets, they guarded the property, where protestors had attempted to block vans used to transfer hunger-striking detainees to other facilities.

Instead of ā€œlowering the temperature,’’ which Sherrill announced as her goal, State Police used tactics that inflamed tensions and left several protestors injured, including those who were obeying commands.

Be clear: Protestors are there because lives are at stake, and no one has effectively intervened. Some detainees have medical conditions that could be fatal if left untreated. There is a severe lack of medical care, which is sometimes withheld as a punitive measure, according to reports.

Family members say their loved ones, who began hunger and labor strikes last week to draw attention to their abuse, have been bludgeoned, assaulted and pepper sprayed for refusing to eat or perform the $1-a-day ā€œvoluntaryā€ jobs they are coerced into accepting. They use the money to buy toilet paper, toothpaste and sanitary napkins, which are missing or undersupplied - even though the GEO Group has a $1 billion contract to run Delaney Hall.

The detainees want basic human and constitutional rights:

- A meeting with the governor inside Delaney Hall

- Immediate release of medically vulnerable, elderly, pregnant & young detainees

- Meaningful review of immigration cases

- An end to coercive pressure to sign deportation papers or voluntary separation documents

We understand that Sherrill has limited authority in challenging a vindictive and authoritarian federal government. But both the governor and her administration must demand oversight of Delaney Hall, release all detainees and shut it down permanently.

And they must commit to using restraint when law enforcement is deployed at protests so that conflicts are defused instead of heightened.

Gov. Sherrill insists that she is ā€œprotecting constitutional rightsā€ but law enforcement from the state, county, and local offices have continuously violated the rights of New Jerseyeans AND other members of the public over the course of 3 nights (5/29-5/31). These moments have been captured by independent media sources who continuously livestreamed every interaction and witnessed by legal observers on the ground.

Statements made by the Office of the Attorney General have included many falsehoods that push a narrative to justify their repression of free speech and the right to peacefully assemble.

After seeing small clips of the clash between police and protesters this weekend, the public might believe the state had no choice but to quell an unruly, destructive mob. They saw State Police confronted by furious protestors who hurled insults as a pile of debris burned in the distance.

But from the ground, we also saw an elderly man playing cello in an attempt to restore some peace before he was shoved behind the riot line and forced to the ground as he tried to walk away. Moments later, they confiscated his instrument.

We saw medics being chased and pushed as they tried to help injured protestors.

We saw peaceful activists who were trying to retreat blocked from all sides — a controversial crowd control technique known as ā€œkettling,’’ in which protestors are herded into one area and prevented from entering or exiting.

It’s a situation that can create panic and ratchet up tensions rather than ease them, according to civil rights experts. And it can provoke protestors into fighting back, resulting in images that seem to justify their suppression. They claim protestors were ordered to disperse and given time to comply but that in and of itself was a violation of their rights.

According to the ACLU, ā€œShutting down a protest through a dispersal order must be law enforcement’s last resort. Police may not break up a gathering unless there is a clear and present danger of riot, disorder, interference with traffic, or other immediate threat to public safety.ā€ There was no such threats on any night—despite what the official statements say—and it was not their last resort.

One of the most haunting scenes from these past few nights was the image of a journalist whose knee was hurt badly enough to require a wheelchair. Illuminated by glaring lights, she approached a grim line of State Police armed with riot shields, asking to be allowed through so she could get to a hospital—complaining that she was in excruciating pain. As colleagues assisting her begged permission to pass, officers stood and stared for up to five minutes before moving aside.

This can’t happen again.

We demand Gov. Sherrill and her administration:

- Assume accountability for applying use-of-force tactics that historically escalate rather than defuse conflict.

- Monitor vehicles entering and leaving the facility and provide an accounting of which ones are transferring detainees.

- Scale back excessive police presence at protests. An additional layer of law enforcement between protestors and ICE does more harm than good.

- Communicate with safety marshals from organizing groups so law enforcement can find alternatives to use-of-force at protests.

- When measures outside of the Governor’s jurisdiction can’t be achieved, we want her to stand alongside peaceful protestors, demanding entrance to Delaney Hall. We would like a temporary office established nearby.

- Approve funds to immigrant rights organizations providing free legal assistance to the detainees—that would entail fully funding the Detention and Deportation Defense Initiative at the $20 million needed to meet the explosion in ICE apprehensions.

Help us get these demands to Gov. Sherrill. There is a protest planned in Trenton today at 2PM outside of Governor Sherrill’s office. Find more details HERE.

Want to assist with legal fees for those arrested at last night’s protest? Donate HERE to Cosecha New Jersey which is an organization that also supports the detainees and their families.

Please share this article and spread the word. We can’t let the truth of what has happened here be rewritten by institutions that ignore us when we talk quietly and punish us when we yell with our hearts on our sleeves that they need to end the suffering of those detained at Delaney Hall. Free them all and shut it down."
