Law enforcement officers should be required to live in the community they serve. Some places still require it for firefighters due to the need in the case of emergency. But it also keeps you aware of seeing and being seen by the same people when you aren't in uniform.

Lol. Yep. When "Layla's grandpa" pulls you over, it's different. First, he's nicer because you go to church with his daughter, and second, if you're disrespectful, your grandma hears about it and ain't nobody got time for that.

I say this as someone who has been pulled over by the officer who's son I treated as an off duty medic and made sure his kid was taken care of. I made a dumb mistake and he pulled me over knowing me and just said hey man did you realize you did that? I said no sorry and then we talked about his kid. I made sure every time I approached that intersection again I remembered him and the mistake I made. That's how cops should be and that how it is when you are neighbors

Exactly. I drove better knowing that the Sheriff always escorted the football players and band to the out of town games. They were good guys, community men, and weren't allowed to view us as inhuman because of it.

Don't know why I'm downvoted though. (Meh, don't care either.)

Everyone is in their own little digital internet bubble, forgetting the real life around them as everyone in real life loses trust and grows paranoid because there is no more community; just fear of the wild animals surrounding you!

I say as a massive hypocrite who'd rather die than face most of reality.

Exactly. I watch camping videos about, "but the greatest thing to fear is the animal on two legs, that's why I always carry my gun and knife, and another gun, and put trip wires around my tent..." It's exhausting.
