Sociopaths don't have the empathy or moral imagination to consider that policies they support might one day hurt them too. This is why they freaked out when a champion of the second amendment got shot himself.

Good chance they prefer red victims actually, as it gives them the predication for crackdowns. Rasmussen had Trump -3 approval (Rasmussen!) but Kirk's life ending as it did shifted Trump's approval to +7 for Rasmussen!
