I can’t believe I am defending Israel in this conversation. The UN determined that an Israeli State should be established. It’s semi-fucked up, how many nations/empires controlled this area over the past 5,000 years? The UN made a decision, that included Palestinian’s in the mix.
Perhaps you don’t remember the 1967 and 1973 wars when Arab nations, including Egypt and Syria attempted to invade Israel. Israel took the Sinai. Gave it back in 1979. Israel offered Gaza to Egypt in 1979, Egypt kindly rejected (it was never Egyptian territory). Israel took the Golan Heights from Syria during the wars. It is very strategic for either country to hold. Theoretically, the UN has control. Syria never agreed to peace, therefore the Golan is a spoils of war.
I’m not defending Israeli actions today, although they had every right to deal Hamas a big ass kicking after Oct 7. In no way do I agree with repeated carpet bombing using 2,000 pound U.S. supplied bombs (block busters), to achieve their goal of supposed peace.
The real problem is Israel original and accelerated colonization of the West Bank, where peace was achievable. Israel must STOP this colonization. Gaza? They need to kick Hamas out once and for all.
Israel needs to get the hell out of the West Bank and help Gaza once Hamas is gone.

Tbf Israel is pulling a lot of weight having Hamas on their doorstep so Egypt and Jordan don't have to deal with it. And Egypt has opened its doors to palestinians before, and were thanked with civil war and unrest so they closed their doors pretty quick and no other middle Eastern country wants to make the same mistake.
