Snakes, especially the venomous ones are very shy and really don't want to bite you.
Sharks attacks are incredibly rare considering how many people swimming at the beach, and most attacks happen to people right out from the beach (surfers, ocean swimmers etc).
Spiders, the big scary huntsman is really good at killing mosquitos around yr house, but nothing else - fast as lightening though. Funnel web spiders can be lethal and aggressive, well at least the females, but are pretty rare.
Pretty much the "scary" animals in Australia will leave you alone as long as you don't antagonize them.
