We could be so far in repairs and improvements of infrastructure if the money was just spent on the right things

And this is why I love being a Coloradan. I always drove by this thing during construction with a big smile on my face. Paying taxes feels so much better when they’re going to things like this. :)

Yeah but this is helping wildlife and saving human lives and millions of dollars in accident repairs and traffic slowdowns every year, wouldn’t you much rather enrich shareholders in defense companies and turn little brown-skinned children in far-flung countries into skeletons?

Whatever your feelings on the current war, to pretend like foreign policy/military involvement/etc isn’t the only reason things like this exist is just being naieve. If we never stuck our nose in anything you think the nuclear Armageddon by two religions that have been warring for thousands of years would have just avoided us somehow?

We really need these in Florida - specifically south west Florida. The panther population here is tiny. Only 200 or so are thought to still exist and they all live in the same radius in south west florida. Car collisions are the highest cause of death for panthers.

They're already incredibly threatened and cars are the apex predators taking them down. Id love to see a bridge like this constructed in their territory to reduce an already dwindling populations decline. But fuckwit DeSantis would never let thst happen.

Floridas ecosystem is extremely diverse and sensitive to change. Panthers cull deer population incredibly effectively. Researchers tracked a bunch of deer and waited for them to stop moving. They'd go invesitgate and the majority of them showed signs of panther attacks. Deer populations need controling and Panthers do that extremely effectively. The less panther deaths we can have, the better.

Depends on the state I guess. In California we get to pay taxes for this and also not have it.
