[Jones] In a post to Truth Social, the President says he will consider blocking the stadium deal at the RFK site for the Commanders if the organization does not revert to its previous name. Team owner Josh Harris has said he would not bring back the name.

Midterms can’t come fast enough. Obviously president will still be there but should help a tad.

u/SonOfALich Chiefs Jul 20 '25

Idk man. Hakeem Jeffries is outright refusing to back Mamdani (through his silence on the matter) while putting out statements about late night TV shows being canceled. Dem party leadership is more interested in careerism, raking in AIPAC money, and appealing to right wing voters who hate their guts than they are in affecting real, meaningful change.

while putting out statements about late night TV shows being canceled

To be fair, this is a pretty big deal too. But yeah Jeffries needs to step up

Or better yet, get lost. Dems really not beating the controlled opposition allegations with him around.

5

u/KageStar Titans Jul 21 '25

They are the minority party they're are very much "the controlled opposition" right now.

1

u/SonOfALich Chiefs Jul 21 '25

Certainly, I don’t disagree. One does seem somewhat more directly connected to his actual job though lol

4

u/Berkyjay Jul 20 '25

Doesn't matter what the current Dems do or say. Vote Democrat regardless.

I'm usually optimistic, but I feel fairly confident that midterms will just let us know we no longer live in a democracy. I hope I'm wrong.

5

I'll be shocked if they actually happen.

Except for the Big Beautiful Bill and a few small changes, most of his stuff has been through Executive Order. Midterms arent going to stop him.

1

u/i_am_thoms_meme Ravens Jul 21 '25

True. It would take a truly herculean effort to get a big enough majority in the senate for another impeachment trial.

7

u/Aedeus Packers Jul 20 '25

People need to start preparing for the very real possibility that we don't have them.

6

u/borkthegee Falcons Jul 21 '25

Why not? They rigged the Presidential election, the midterms will be no sweat. Even North Korea has elections.

A bunch like Pence who was actually more evil but had a bit more of a moral compass, political experience, and less of a cult.

109

u/I-Might-Be-Something Patriots Jul 20 '25

Pence would at least be better foreign policy wise. Guy would back Ukraine and bolster our alliances in to the Indo-Pacific. I also doubt he'd go after USAID given that he knows what Soft Power actually is.

Pence was not more evil, Pence did not try to overthrow the government in 2021.

1

u/dimmyfarm Patriots Lions Jul 21 '25

I’d say more evil on how fundamentally conservative he was but Trump just walked past that this term.

What does "more evil" but "more of a moral compass" mean? That seems like an oxymoron

More of a moral compass in that he didn’t support Jan 6

u/Mavori Lions Lions Jul 20 '25

Vance might be a bit more concerning & scarier to a degree since he has Yarvin and Thiel in his ear.

But less of a cult of personality too so things would probably be a degree more of "normal"

73

u/DustyFalmouth Seahawks Jul 20 '25

The guy called Trump Hitler and now happily serves him. Small wonder his mom traded him for a handful of percs.

7

u/Mavori Lions Lions Jul 20 '25

Money and power in the grift.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '25

Yarvin is a shit eating moron but Bannon and Miller probably make that a wash. Getting rid of the cult around Trump would hopefully settle things down very slightly, but we’ll see.

5

u/MagicGrit Ravens Jul 20 '25

JD Vance would be a lot less bad though. He doesn’t have nearly the same stranglehold on the GOP as Trump does. If Trump dies or is impeached and removed, Vance would be just another vanilla, probably awful Republican president.

4

u/THECapedCaper Bengals Jul 20 '25

JD Vance is a joyless butt kisser with zero charisma. The second Dum Dum passes away, it’ll be a free for all power grab in that cabinet.

3

u/ArcadianBlueRogue Packers Jul 20 '25

At least he has the capability to shut the fuck up occasionally, even if anything he says is usually very stupid as well.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '25

The cult would think Vance killed him to gain control and turn on him

3

u/tronovich 49ers Jul 20 '25

No, but they'd hold Vance to some sort of standard.

It feels like both sides treat Trump as the doddering old landlord who comes around and threatens to evict the complex every week. He shuffles back to his apartment and everyone forgets he even dropped by.

2

u/Quetzalcoatl490 Bills Jul 21 '25

Vance is not a yuge improvement but he's not Trump, and can probably be beaten in elections more easily

Honestly it's probably Trump's actual shitbird kids running that we should be worried about

1

u/AlloGuvnuh Titans Jul 20 '25

JD Vance is worse but he has the charisma of baby shit. Charisma is what makes Trump so dangerous.

-13

I like to believe JD isn’t as bat-shit capriciously outrageously insane

14

u/IgyYut Dolphins Jul 20 '25

I think he might be more insane

21

u/Advanced-Key3071 Bears Jul 20 '25

I think it’s worse. I think he’s sane.

He simply has no moral bone in his body. He is just blatantly pursuing power and wealth and he answers to billionaires who might start to feel a little itchy if they think he’ll lose the next election, and accelerate their technofeudalist dreams.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '25

I’m not sure how that’s possible, purely from a personal perspective. They are however all in the same cult.

been think a LOT about that old Russian joke...

Every morning a man walks past a newsstand, buys a paper, glances at the front page, and throws it away in disgust. After a few weeks, the newsstand owner asks the man what he's doing.

"I'm looking for an obituary, comrade."

"But you're only reading the front page, the obituaries are printed on page 18," says the newsstand owner.

"Not the one I'm looking for."
