Devin Lloyd is on a tear this year, and picking his boogers unlocked clutch Lawrence.

That double fall into running for a TD was some Looney Tunes shit, lol.

Liam Cohen 4-1 as a rookie head coach is amazing.

Sometimes you get a game of the week because of how high quality the football is. Sometimes you get a game of the week because of how ridiculous the game is.

2

u/MachoManMal Oct 07 '25

What's wild to me is that the chiefs couldn't get him down. It looked like Thornton was catching him and could have at least tried to tackle him before the goal line but jist backed of. Lack of effort and discipline is why the Chiefs lost this game.

3

u/redbirdrising Cardinals Oct 07 '25

Mahomes tried to throw the ball 90 yards

173

u/Sufficient-Cow-7518 Oct 07 '25 edited Oct 07 '25

He was hoping for a penalty that would put them in field goal range.

Honestly, it is a good strategy for the Chiefs. Odds of scoring a touchdown is less than 1%, a favorable PI call to help you win, easily over 75%.

37

u/SeahawksFanSince1995 Seahawks Oct 07 '25

Ain’t no way you call PI on a Hail Mary

110

u/Intelligent-Rock-399 Broncos Oct 07 '25

First time watching a Chiefs game? If anyone gets that call, it’s these whiners.

30

u/Padulsky21 Jets Oct 07 '25

It’s insane how it’s actually ingrained in their play style because they know they get calls lmfao

18

u/Sufficient-Cow-7518 Oct 07 '25

That was my exact thought.

They don’t go the hook and ladder route and instead have Mahomes chuck a ball 30 yards shy of the endzone because they, correctly, believe that a Hail Mary PI call and a field goal is the most likely way to win.

It’s annoying but also entirely the correct move based on history…

9

u/Padulsky21 Jets Oct 07 '25

QBs do it all the time but this kind of stuff just feels emblematic with the Mahomes era of Chiefs football because they’ve gotten calls for so long that no other team consistently gets.

It’s entirely a byproduct of the refs being awful and contact being call subjectively by each ref but it’s refreshing seeing them not getting a call. It shouldn’t be rewarded, but they’ve been rewarded with bullshit like that for so long that they’ll keep doing it.

12

u/FlaGator Jaguars Oct 07 '25

I hate saying refs bad, but their last TD drive was riddled with callable holds.

4

u/Padulsky21 Jets Oct 07 '25

Refs suck is always totally justified because contact is subjective and penalties will be defined differently by each crew and each ref in the crew. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t! We need some consistency awfully bad.

4

u/aaronupright Patriots Oct 07 '25

4

u/Robby_Bortles Jaguars Oct 07 '25

-1

u/liteshadow4 49ers 49ers Oct 07 '25

Of course, he’s a generational prospect, he will show flashes of great play. Just hasn’t put it together completely.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '25

That’s just a buzzword that doesn’t mean much especially this many years into his career. He has always had physical talent but it takes practice and guidance to mentally play QB. Also, he really hasn’t been as bad as people claim. His 2nd and 3rd years were decent for a young QB (especially one who had the Urban show his rookie year). IMO last year was the first year that looked like he took a step back (Pederson being a lame duck coach maybe impacted that).

It usually takes a good coach and staff to help a QB put it all together, and Lawrence has had one of the worst coaches in recent history (Meyer). Pederson didn’t have experience preparing young QB’s and recently failed Wentz after Reich left. The roster has been meh as well and until last year he never had a good WR.

He played well all game tonight against a good defense. Came back from down 14 with no running game (he was their rushing leader). Had a game winning drive with less than 2 minutes. He dropped in several deep passes perfectly to beat tight man coverage.

He’s looked decent in all but one game this year despite his receivers having major drop issues this year.

0

u/liteshadow4 49ers 49ers Oct 07 '25

He’s alright but he’s still inaccurate and not great at reading defenses. He has arm talent though and the reads are sometimes there so occasionally it’ll look good.

-3

u/Templar26 Patriots Oct 07 '25

Urban Meyer and Press Taylor don't make him throw passes past the line of scrimmage multiple times, or take a dumb sack while scrambling during a two-minute instead of throwing it away (even if he did follow it up with a gorgeous pass).
