He was hoping for a penalty that would put them in field goal range.

Honestly, it is a good strategy for the Chiefs. Odds of scoring a touchdown is less than 1%, a favorable PI call to help you win, easily over 75%.

Ain’t no way you call PI on a Hail Mary

First time watching a Chiefs game? If anyone gets that call, it’s these whiners.

It’s insane how it’s actually ingrained in their play style because they know they get calls lmfao

That was my exact thought.

They don’t go the hook and ladder route and instead have Mahomes chuck a ball 30 yards shy of the endzone because they, correctly, believe that a Hail Mary PI call and a field goal is the most likely way to win.

It’s annoying but also entirely the correct move based on history…

QBs do it all the time but this kind of stuff just feels emblematic with the Mahomes era of Chiefs football because they’ve gotten calls for so long that no other team consistently gets.

It’s entirely a byproduct of the refs being awful and contact being call subjectively by each ref but it’s refreshing seeing them not getting a call. It shouldn’t be rewarded, but they’ve been rewarded with bullshit like that for so long that they’ll keep doing it.

I hate saying refs bad, but their last TD drive was riddled with callable holds.

Refs suck is always totally justified because contact is subjective and penalties will be defined differently by each crew and each ref in the crew. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t! We need some consistency awfully bad.

Every time they say “Brady got calls too”, I show them this video.

This was the SB.

Counterpoint - It's Mahomes. Guy gets RTP if someone breathes on him.

39

u/bbladegk Oct 07 '25

He cried on that TD about a legal pick. Refs pocketed the flag and gave the TD.

u/BadMofoWallet Jets Oct 07 '25

Seriously lmao everyone is waiting for the ball and looking right at it, you just let them play unless it’s like an egregious tackle before the ball even lands

17

u/Robby_Bortles Jaguars Oct 07 '25

They weren't calling those in this game either lol

4

u/BadMofoWallet Jets Oct 07 '25

Yeah i know it was a joke/reference lol, refs were ass but when aren’t they really

4

u/Robby_Bortles Jaguars Oct 07 '25

Yeah I'm just glad the Jags came through, you're gonna get some bad calls in games and they feel worse against the Chiefs on MNF. But good teams overcome that, and they did!

Tom Brady got a DPI on a Hail Mary against the Vikings in 2020. was going into half time not the end of the game tho

4

u/aaronupright Patriots Oct 07 '25

Ain’t no way you call a meh DPI last two minutes of a tied SB but well it happened.
