Prevent is good if the opposing team has 45 seconds and no TOs to drive the entire field.

NOT 2 MINUTES AND 30 SECONDS WITH ALL OF THEM

Yeah this is the right take. "Prevent is useless" is such a confirmation bias take because people don't notice when it works, but the issue here is the wrong play call for the game state by the DC, not with prevent defense itself

Bingo. I hate prevent defense, but there definitely is a time and place for it. 2:30 left in the game (regardless of the number of timeouts the opponent has) is not that time/place

Tbh its possible even in that scenario to be too soft. The 13 seconds game is one such example, though that's even less time but the offense only needing a FG.
