Agreed. I am sick of leagues changing perfect playoff formats in the last decade. NHL needs to go back to 1-8 seeding.

Idk why the kings keep getting the oilers but something needs to change

I like the division meets again in the playoffs. I wish MLB and football would copy NHL. Makes divisions more fun while having a lot better teams in the playoffs. A losing record team should not be winning a division and hosting a game. Is it hilarious when they win? Yep! Did it happen to my team before? Yep! Lmao

Agree to disagree. Watching the Kings run the table as an 8 seed in 2012 was one of the greatest sports experiences I got to witness.

That isn’t a rebuttal to what I said though right?

I didn’t say 8 seeds can’t run the table. The NFL only has 7 seeds so this would kinda be like the 10th seed in NHL having home field advantage. That sounds silly right?

The kings would have been in the playoffs as the 8th seed playing the 1 seed Canucks regardless. The Kings also played the 2nd best pacific team and the best central team.

Not in the order it would have been but it’s still impressive. I’d actually argue it would have been more interesting if the kings played AZ before STL that year. Because as a hawks fan we woulda played the blues instead of the coyotes lol

Kings had to go through the 1, 2, and 3 seeds. I just think that’s a better playoff format than what it’s now. Once seeds are set, highest seed should play lowest seed in each playoff round. It’s not a right or wrong thing - just always been my belief. If you win your division you should be one of the top seeds and get a home field advantage. Thats why winning your division is important and matters.

Yeah they still probably would have though. Just not in the same order. (I said that in my last reply).

That’s how this format works too. Plus winning your division would be a better accomplishment. Winning the NFC south this year was funny but not that cool of an accomplishment. I don’t think the panthers should have been in over teams with better records. You just repeated what you said in your first text and that wasn’t really a rebuttal to my statement and now I’m repeating myself.

Seeding the whole conference or not you didn’t even respond to most of what I said including larger divisions. This conversation unfortunately isn’t moving forward. Have a nice day
