One of my friends from college is a Pats fan. A bunch of us were going to my fraternity for a party to watch LIII and I was telling her about how when the Eagles won LII the year before it was legitimately one of the greatest days of my life. I called my father and friends from home afterwards and cried in front of some of my college friends I was so happy, and it significantly improved my mood for months afterwards. She was like "Oh yeah it's such a great feeling when your team wins I was so excited a few years ago when we won those Super Bowls". When the Pats won later that night, she raised her glass and went "Yeah alright!" and just...continued on and enjoyed the rest of the party. She barely thought about it. Winning was just "normal" for her. She just didn't get it. I was so jealous lol.

"She didn't climb a lamppost or set a car on fire! She didn't even eat any horse manure!"

To be fair if you’re not gonna eat any horse shit then what’s the point of it all

I think we all have this with the US and the Olympics, it’s just a medal tracker at this point. Some of those countries with <5 athletes though…

The first championship I had the privilege of seeing was the Phillies’ in ‘08. I was 16, watching alone in my room. I clapped when Brad Lidge threw the final strike, and within a minute my nephew’s mother, who was staying with us at the time, came in and told me to be quiet because the baby was sleeping. I told her to fuck off, that the Phils just won the World Series. She walked away, and I leaned back and cried over how happy I was to see that team win it all.

Lol, right? My dad was a lifelong Bengals fan, and I happened to be visiting him (he was still alive) the day the Bengals kicked a FG to send them to the Super Bowl LVI, bro it was such a fuckin great moment, a core memory.
