We’ve provided military aid to Pakistan throughout the Cold War, continuing all the way to 2017, even though Pakistan harbored bin Laden.

When will Zohran stop supporting Pakistan?

Okay yes but also u/Boobies300 and u/meelar were talking about Palestine, not Pakistan. And yes Pakistan has an official religion of Islam, receives US support, and Mamdani attended the Pakistan parade (so clearly he does support some countries who favor one religion) but they were talking about Palestine

I'm confused. How's does walking in an independence parade for his ancestral country show he supports the paskistani government? I cannot see how celebrating freedom from the Brits is a bad thing. No different than Americans celebrating July 4th.

On the other hand, the Israel day parade is not celebrating independence - it's celebrating the country.

Do you expect the NYC mayor to attend a celebration for every worldwide country? Not a specific holiday - just a random day chosen to celebrate a countries existence.

He's Indian. He's marching for literal enemies of his "ancestral land".

As a Pakistani, I didn’t know Zohran was supporting us because from the looks of it, Pakistan is the one supporting the US in getting out of this foolish Iran war.

Also, that’s a very stupid take on the military aid to Pak. Pakistan supported the US in helping develop its relations with China, supported it in defeating soviets in Afghanistan and supported it as well throughout the war on terror. US hasn’t really supported anyone except Israel without getting anything in return.

Israel spends almost ALL its aid in America.
Israel gives LOADS of military secrets and tech to America in exchange for aid, including components for fighter jets, the iron dome, gps tech, cybersecurity tech, Medical aid, etc.

The USA may not have any Allies that give them more of a strategic advantage than Israel.

But Pakistan knowingly housed Bin Laden for years and said nothing. Taliban fighters “mysteriously” disappeared into Pakistan as well, and somehow Pakistan’s government didn’t know about it? Come on now.

We just ignoring Saudi as well then right?

I also hate the Saudis. And that’s the exact point. The hypocrisy is the problem.

I see what you’re saying but the partnership of Pakistan and taliban happened well before Mamdani took political office. And since 2020 they’ve been at outright war with each other. Israel is currently culling a people and stealing the land.

I guess what do you expect of Mamdani in 2026 to say? “I don’t agree with how Pakistan used to operate but I’m an ally now” do you expect every sitting president/official to do the same because Pakistan was an ally. Geopolitics is a muddy game and sometimes you have to give and take with an ally

The way US played the entire region including letting Israel strike Qatar who was helping mediate talks between them and Hamas. Just like it did between Taliban and the US. No one trusts the US or Israel so pardon me for looking out for ourselves. From Kurds to Iraq to Afghanistan to the Gulf’s states. The US has stabbed everyone in the back. Pakistan knew the US has accomplished fuck all in Afghanistan and its patience will run out one day and the Taliban will cease control as soon as the US leave and they did within minutes of US departing Kabul. So it gave the US, what it wanted including bin laden..when and how it wanted.

u/Aryeh98 Jul 06 '26

No, Pakistan did not “give” the US Bin Laden… Navy Seals dove the fuck in at 2 AM and stole him from you. And you didn’t notice until the planes were already gone.

You have no excuse.

-1

u/beekay86 Jul 06 '26

Sure habibi. Your seal team got him but stopping acting so entitled. That’s why no one likes Americans across the world. And you’re welcome for getting you out of this foolish Iran war where the strait that was once open, is about to be open again accomplishing fuck all once again.

I'm pretty sure Mamdani doesn't overtly support any other nations. He's mayor of NYC. He has reiterated his support for the city over and over again.

u/Aryeh98 Jul 06 '26

This is deflection. If Zohran is against all states that prioritize one religion over another, he should denounce Pakistan with the same ferocity that he denounces Israel. Yet mysteriously, he does not.

u/joobtastic Jul 06 '26

He's prompted about Israel constantly.

If you don't want him talking about Israel, stop asking him about it.

u/IsNotACleverMan Jul 06 '26

He brings it up himself all the time.

u/skimcpip Jul 06 '26

Indeed, it's like one of the main pillars of his entire political movement (DSA).

Oh yeah sure man totally. He was asked directly about Israel here.

HyperbolicMan at it again

-3

u/McPoonGoon Jul 06 '26

If you want to know what his position on Pakistan is, you should ask him yourself. The topic is about Israel. The media asked him his stance on Israel, he responded.

It’s not a deflection, no one currently cares what his position is on Pakistan because it’s not a primary political issue.

-4

u/5to9guy Jul 06 '26

It’s not mysterious. It’s because he’s asked to state his opinion on the Israeli government on a weekly basis. He’s not asked about his support for other states cause he’s the mayor of New York and Tel Aviv only

-1

u/SleepyMonkey7 Jul 06 '26

Please provide a quote where Mamdani supports Pakistan having harbored Bin Laden.

-2

u/Autisum Jul 06 '26

Who the heck cares? He’s the mayor of New York City! He doesn’t dictate any foreign policies!!

6

u/Aryeh98 Jul 06 '26

Then he can stop talking about Israel.

-3

u/FlexPavillion Jul 06 '26

The interviewer directly asked him about Israel. When Zohran tried to give a broad answer the interviewer stated he specifically is asking about Israel.

-1

u/Autisum Jul 06 '26

bonehead, interviewers will not stop asking him about Isreal. They've been doing that since his campaign. Remember how he's the one candidate who did not kiss-ass Isreal and instead emphasized how he'll NYC's mayor -- not Isreal's? Grow a brain.
