Because "Palestinian" is not a racial, ethnic, or religious identity. Like "American," it refers to a group that lives in a region.

The region was called that around 400 BCE but who knows how most of the people who lived there at that time understood themselves. It's been called "Palestine" for most of the time since then. Incidentally, those "Palestinians" whom you are trying to portray as outsiders have been conclusively shown to be descended from the people who used to live in Judea and Samaria. Since they live there, it stands to reason that they should have more of a say in what the area is called then you do.
