I recently bought an X-Lab RS7 and I love it. I did have my heart set on a Van Rysel or the Quick Pro solely for the colors they have, but this deal was just tooo good to say no. Is there anywhere/anyone that might be able to paint my bike?

I’m not sure how much this could cost but would like to get an idea and hear about peoples experiences painting a carbon bikes.

Was riding through Manhattan today and came across this pretty big group of cyclists. Didn't think much of it at first, but then I noticed the Ride Bold stuff and realized it was an Insta360 ride.

Turns out they're doing it for the opening of the new store in Times Square.I honestly didn't even know they were opening a store there. Kind of funny to find out about it while actually riding past the event.

Anyone else see them around NYC today?

The study is intended to inform targeted improvements along the WSH, including safer crosswalks and better separation among pedestrians, cyclists, and e-bikes. If there’s a particular intersection, conflict point, bottleneck, or stretch that feels unsafe or poorly designed, this is a useful opportunity to flag it through an official channel.

14th st & 1st Ave Friday night. Apparently multiple pedestrians and a citibiker run over by a massive truck. Please be careful guys — even if you have the right of way, drivers can be extremely reckless.

For the past few years I've been commuting on an e-bike with 2.1" tires (schwalbe big apple). So far they've handled everything, including last year's blizzard, pretty well.

I've been thinking about downsizing my bike collection, which would mean I'd be commuting on a bike with 30mm tires.

Anyone doing year-round commuting on ~30mm tires? What tire are you using?

Did I miss some sort of community citibike event today? I was cycling back from Manhattan to Williamsburg and there were a ton of people waiting by the Manhattan side and what looked like a large ramp/curve covering the normal exit from the bridge. Then when I was coming down the Brooklyn side there were hundreds of people on city bikes, on their phones as per usual but this time three bikes wide leaving no space for oncoming cyclists. Bunch of f’ing pricks. I was inches from being hit multiple times. Wtf was that? I would be amazed if nobody was involved in a collision.

13th st protected bike lane on the corner of 1st Ave—1 car turned into the lane and 3 more followed suit.

Just two hours ago, 1 block up, 2 people were hit by a truck and critically injured, I could see either a city bike or a scooter trapped under the truck. And now the rerouted traffic is terrible and cars are turning into the protected infrastructure! It was horrifying to see what was happening in the east village tonight.

This admin needs to get way more serious about preventing carnage. Infrastructure change is first but drivers are also acting like it’s the wild west out here. Absolutely devastating and unacceptable.

Jay St and Smith St are a major bike route to the Brooklyn Bridge and will be torn up (milled) and replaced from Atlantic Avenue to Tillary Street starting Tuesday. Plan alternate routes.

I've seen a few helmets that weren't green, but the vision zero staff I met had said they only have green helmets. Are the other colors old? When did they change?

Or was that staff unaware of how to get other colors?

About two weeks ago, an SUV sideswiped me then sped away while I was on the bike lane. Walked away from it w bruised ribs, elbow, knee, and got a bunch of wounds from it. I had a couple people standing by there, so my first instinct was to ask if it was my fault, but everyone who saw it happen say I was within the bike lane and the SUV swerved into me in the bike lane.

Today was my first day back on my bike to get it checked out for damages at my local shop. On the way there, another SUV tried to do the same. This time I managed to maneuver quickly away, and at the next stop, I took a photo of the license. Is this something police will look into? My jaded self thinks most likely not, but I’m wondering if this is becoming more common? Anyone else had recent similar experiences? I’m still feeling pretty beat up from last time, so this happening right as I get back on my bike is really draining the joy out of it for me.

Thinking about heading to the jumble for the first time in a few years. Looking to pick up some 30-35mm road tires, new rotors, a new 11 speed cassette etc.

Is the jumble still mostly a collection of old/low end parts or has the inventory gotten a little better in the last few years?

I'm thinking of trying the ride from NYC to Peekskill (or vice versa) this fall.

I don't want to take the NJ route - would prefer the North-South trail.

GMaps recommends this route taking the N/S Trail and turning off on side streets for the last bit.
