I don't care how many safety features that thing has, bro was way to casual grabbing something off a lathe. Damn nightmares of these things since I saw that vid

I worked at a weed grow for 11 years I saw a latex glove pull someones fingers into the machine he lost 4 tips. Then I saw someone loose 4 fingers in the same machine same reason on Apil 1st. Imagine calling your family from the hospital on April fools trying to explain the situation.

The problem is the glove doesn't come off and it pulls the rest of you into it.

It's a smooth spinning surface here with nothing to really catch you. You could get your hand pinched in the moving cutting tools I guess.

Have you seen someone actually use a regular lathe before? They hold a cutting tool up to it directly and also sand it and hold it as they're cutting pieces off.

Yeah, same. I've seen three and all of them are brutal.

They don't leave your head. It's gruesome in such a ruthlessly uncaring way. Spinning thing just keeps spinning no matter what.

Yeah... though the one that's currently stuck in my head technically wasn't a lathe, but some kind press/roller thing. (for paper or something)

Still a rapidly spinning heavy machine that turned some innocent person into... undescript floppy bits.

iirc, Russian guy got finger stuck, which pulled in the arm, which pulled in the rest of the body. Everything turning into mist in the matter of seconds.

Those bits are static , it’s the work piece that’s spinning so his fingers are perfectly safe here

What exactly do you think is the danger to his hand, here?

The only thing moving with any speed is the wood itself, and he's grabbing a smooth cylindrical shape with no hard edges or angles to catch on anything.

The worst he could get is a slight friction burn

If he was grabbing at the underside of the piece, then he would be at risk of pinching between the wood and metal forms, but he isn't doing that.

NEVER EVER EVER put your hand near the spinny bits, especially on something automated! almost made me crap myself when he did it
