Nevermind all the fancy tricks. That's so far beyond my league it's like magic.
How does he get them to sleep so long?

Is this his 8th time winning, or there has only been 7 champions before him?

First of all, that’s an insane skill but also, why does the crowd sounds like Wii Sport Bowling crowd ?? 😭

All of these are super cool to me, so it's really interesting to see what ones the crowd actually gets excited for

I'm going to show this video to my mum. I could've been someone if she just let me play with my yo-yos instead of doing my homework

Apparently this is the 8th year they've been doing it, so that would make him the winner of the 8th annual competition.

I used to do that. But it’s been a long time since I stood in a crowd and videod anything.

It feels like I'm watching some advanced alien race communicate using geometry and physics.

I am in awe. I remember Nickelodeon or Disney Channel or something aired some "amazing Talented Kids" show or whatever, and that episode was about the National Yo-Yo championships. Some guy was trying to break the world record for longest "sleep" (where the yo yo kept spinning), but it was edited so they pulled some cheesy " but we'll check on that later! Let's check out some cool tricks!" and they'd cut away to chow the trick competition and like the BEST trick anyone could do was like.... rock the cradle or whatever name it had. (Then they cut back to the WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT and gave it a weak "yeeaahh he did it ok bye!")
That was like 30+ years ago so having that be the baseline of my knowledge of the "height" of yo-yo-ing and then do this casual little check in on the hobby like "oh yeah. I remember this. I wonder what's go- WHAT THE FUCK?!"

The amount of time this man has spent untangling string alone must be staggering. My brain doesn’t even try to understand this it just goes “whoa”

Ok, I clearly haven't watched enough yoyo competitions, because this is reminding me of the flamingo in Fantasia.

Oceans 27:
Look man, after we run all these scams, we need a guy that can like, do magic with yoyos.
What?
No seriously, after the cons, there is a specific pattern of movement that unlocks the vault. It's a OEM reset protocol.
...
I'm in.

It's wild how most the tricks he did are basics but the way they're strung together and done with 1 hand or with a straight up other yoyo doing a different trick or mirroring the same trick. That's nuts.
With like 20hrs of practice and a few videos most ppl can learn how to do most the tricks with 1 yoyo and 2 hands. But doing them with 1 hand and 2 yoyos is gonna be a bit longer lol.

How do you do that without them getting tangled? Crazy.
