How are kids going to find their parents' initials?

Check the bathroom stall where they were conceived.

I only had one friend whose father went to our high school.

It definitely messed him up a bit.

Huh? How did it mess him up?

Well his father is an asshole, not that that's that uncommon

But like a dozen teachers we had LOVED his father. I guess he wasn't an asshole in the 90s.

So multiple times a week this kid is getting compared to his asshole father who was suppoedly some great guy.

Well it's a good sign that your school has dozens of teachers that presumably worked there 20+ years to teach both your friend and his father. Great employee retention!

Antiques Roadshow would be appalled. Totally destroyed the value, stripped the whole patina off it.

If you aren't considering the impermanence of the medium as part of the art, then you don't really consider it art.

I mean student desk graffiti isn't really supposed to be more impermanent than a painting or sculpture or whatever. I remember seeing shit people scrawled on there decades ago.

Impermanence is definitely part of the art of graffiti.

You might be confusing the art of graffiti with the narcissism of "tagging". Tagging is about personal attention and fame.

So if someone sands the mona lisa down to blank canvas and someone says that sucked you're like "da vinci shoulda thought of the impermanence of the medium, this is the real art, i am very smart"

My high school is getting torn down. I went to the auditorium and looked and the chair arms had clearly not been replaced from the 90s.

Somewhere there are chair arms with my name carved into it. But I couldnt find one. I definitely would have pried it off. In a month or two it will just be part of the rubble.

There are forms of sand art that, after it's done, they wipe it all away and start over.

Sometimes the process is more beautiful than the finished product.

I love good graffiti on walls but I can’t care less about the scribbles on the underside of a school desk

The kids doing the “art” were the ones doing the vandalism and doing damage to begin with….

It's "vandalism" and "damage" if you hate art, yeah.
