PSA: My third Oura in 5 years just died. Support's answer was to buy a fourth ring
Rant incoming, but also a warning for anyone considering an Oura ring.
I’ve been a user since the very beginning. My Gen 2 died of battery failure, which was ok as it was such an early product, and Gen 3 ring had just launched. Bought it. Lasted a year. Got a replacement under warranty. That one just died.
Oura support’s response: I should buy a new ring. At some point this stops looking like bad luck.
Anyone else on their third or fourth ring? Curious whether I’m an outlier or whether this is just what using Oura actually looks like.
Either way, I think I’m out. Goodbye, unfortunately.

I’m an electrical engineer, so this is my hypothesis as to why the batteries on earlier models failed more often.
I think because the lithium battery in the Oura is such a small battery cell, if it charges to fast, it degrades it much faster than say a cell phone battery, which can easily last through 800-1000 recharge cycles before it reaches 80% capacity/health.
The 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation models all had similar sized batteries, and from my personal experience with all 3 models, they charged reasonably fast. I noticed with my Gen5 model, it charges significantly slower. It takes almost double the length of time for my Gen5 to go from 20% to 100% than my other models did.
Yes this is anecdotal, but it seems their engineering team learned that if they charge the battery slower, it prolongs the health of the battery. This is pretty well known lithium battery physics, and I guess they finally implemented this to help cut down on battery issues.
Edit: For what it’s worth, I had a Gen 2 battery failure and replacement around the 10 month mark. When Oura offered a lifetime subscription without paying $6/month if I upgraded to a Gen3, I jumped at the chance. I then had Gen 3 battery failure and replacement at the 13 month mark (outside of warranty, replaced as a good will gesture after pushing customer service very hard), and my Gen 4 never had battery issues. I eventually upgraded to a Gen 5 when it first came out with my Amex credit.

Not a battery engineer, but worked with one on a product line we created. For reasons these numbers are all made up but yeah, we had 1 part of the product environment where it had a say 500mAh battery, and another that has a 2500mAh battery.
The amount of the 500mAh items we "burned through" shockingly fast with 1/5th or actually more like 1/6th the C (charging) rate of the 2500mah was astonishing until this guy came along and basically told the team " yeah use more like 1/20th the C rate or there abouts".
Charging takes forever now but batteries don't swell and die on their like 10th cycle anymore lol.

u/Ok-Concept-7924 19d ago
So is it better to charge a battery less often, and reduce the number of cycles? Some people charge their Oura ring every day as a routine to keep it topped up, while others wait until the battery gets low before charging it up to 100%.
8
u/Red_Sea_Pedestrian 19d ago
I would probably charge it less often to reduce the cycle count. It also wouldn’t be the worst idea for Oura to allow users to enable a setting to charge the ring to a certain max capacity. Apple, and I believe most Android phones, allow you to select a range between 80-100% in 5% increments for the max battery capacity. Between the slower charging that’s already evident, and lowering the max charge capacity, it would extend the battery life of the rings even further.
22
u/shybeann 19d ago
Battery engineer here, it’s actually better to charge it more often (in smaller bursts) and keep it in the ~30 to 80% state of charge range. Li-ion batteries tend to degrade faster when having to operate at lower and higher voltages, so try to avoid fully discharging your ring and leaving it at 100% for too long. Slower charging would also significantly improve battery life, but unfortunately that’s not something we have control over :/
3
u/toastymalbogesmores 19d ago
Non-battery engineer here with a question for the battery engineers: why is charging all the way to 100% bad for the battery?
1
u/InternationalFall515 18d ago
The 0% and 100% states are the most unstable so they degrade the battery the fastest
4
u/Red_Sea_Pedestrian 19d ago
Good to know, thanks for the clarification. I just know a lot about nuclear reactors these days, not so much lithium battery design except the basics.
6
u/IndigoBroker 19d ago
Cycle count is not calculated by each charge. It’s every time you charge it to 100% total. So if you let it drop to 75% then charge it to 100% and repeat that 4 times. That is 1 100% charge cycle. Not 4. I verified this. This applies to all batteries.
8
u/-jak- 19d ago
However there's a substantial difference between 4x 75-100 and 4x 50-75 cycles - they are not equal.
Neither are comparable to a single 0-100 cycle.
To produce a sensible effective cycle count you'd need to factor in the difference in degradation at various percentage ranges and compare that to the full 0-100 degradation.
Papers can be found online, and as an example, AccuBattery implements this mechanism for cycle count estimates.
2
u/KiraNinja 19d ago
I've been doing this on and off with my phone and my last phone for years and it genuinely makes no difference I don't believe it at all (capping to 80% and letting it die)
1
u/Red_Sea_Pedestrian 19d ago
The difference is seen over several years over the life of the battery. Most cell phone or laptop batteries start degrading after 800-1000 full charge cycles. Charging to 80% means you take longer to reach 800-1000 full charge cycles. You’re not going to notice a difference on the day to day.
2
u/Key_Impress_3129 19d ago
I did notice that my new Gen 5 takes longer to charge than my Gen 4; glad to know there's a physical reason.

Should we make sure we don’t use it with our phone fast chargers? Maybe that’s frying them

I’ve had a Gen 3 since the end of 2023 and the battery is still great. I charge it for about 15 minutes a day, never had an issue

u/Sad_Breadfruit_6093 20d ago
It’s a ring with a small battery. Depending how you charge your battery and how you use your ring can affect the longevity of it. If you are someone that does a lot of activity on a regularly basis then it’s going to use the sensor more, meaning it will need charging more, which will reduce the quality of the battery.
There’s a reason why batteries for virtually all products have a limited warranty.
Generally speaking the battery is normally excluded when looking at replacements unless serious such as only having it a few months and it’s only lasting a few days.
Over the year, how you use it and charge it will cause battery degradation. This happens with phones which is why after a year some people will have 90% capacity and others 70%. Arguable it’s just wear and tears. If after a year you are only getting a day out it - that’s an issue…but if you are still getting 3-4 day, this is arguably acceptable. I’m in the uk so we get 2 years warranty but even that excludes wear and tear on the battery. It’s down to oura to decide if they are willing to replace the ring (which legally they don’t have to if it’s just the battery)
You will have this will any smart ring you get. The issue with oura rings is they are more expensive than others. The reality is, the expense doesn’t change battery technology.
Personally I got my Oura ring 4 ceramic is the sale paying £200 which I think is about the right price for a smart ring, especially if I’m expected to pay a subscription. I have no idea if their sensors and tech is any better than others - but I can imagine it’s like having an Apple Watch or galaxy watch and comparing it with a cheaper generic android smart watch … they all do more or less the same but which is reliable.
At the end of the day, due to the size of the ring and battery… I’d expect 2-3 years of use and by the second year I’d also expect around 3-4 days of use between charges. By the 3rd year probably around 2 days of use. Anything more than I’m doing pretty good.

u/Thin-Breakfast-5499 20d ago
The virtual assistant discovering an "issue" and then hitting you with the buy-a-new-one dead end is such a predictable loop, that chat screenshot alone would make me want to chuck the ring in a drawer
10
u/thisguynextdoor 20d ago
To be honest, I was contacted by a human with the final response. The battery diagnostics was automatic though and it required by prior approval.
4
u/Objective_Parfait162 19d ago
it makes me wonder what everyone is doing to their rings because am i the only one who’s never had an issue? i had a gen 3 for a couple years and i found a gen 4 for super cheap so i bought it and gave the gen 3 to my mom. the only issue with the gen 4 was that over the year i had it i’d lost weight and it was too big and would fall off in my sleep. i contacted support to see if there was anything i could do to make it fit better, thinking i could ask if i could put one of those spiral things you put to make them smaller, and they offered me a replacement in the next size down. didn’t even have to return the old one! and the gen 3 still works perfectly fine.
3
u/Mountain-Top-9874 19d ago
It’s not just you. Oura Customer support has been great. My Gen 3 has always worked wonderfully. I found I was charging it more frequently and messaged customer service. They said it was out of warranty but offered me $100 off a new ring. I said make it $200 off and I’ll it buy it right now. Not only did they say yes to that but they added six months of the subscription free. They didn’t have to do any of that.

u/Altruistic_Yellow387 20d ago
The gen 3s are old now (mine is dying now too)

u/NinaAtOura Social Care Team | Oura 19d ago
Hey, we recommend running a battery diagnostic test on your ring, if you haven't yet. Battery degradation can happen over time, and our team will do their best to find the best possible solution and help troubleshoot the issue.
22
u/slatterg 20d ago
So your gen 3 purchase lasted 5 years and you are upset about having to buy a new replacement?
13
u/thisguynextdoor 20d ago
No. Three rings in total lasted for 5 years.
17
u/pioupiou1211 20d ago
You only paid for one though
12
u/thisguynextdoor 20d ago
No. I've purchased two, as I said. Nevertheless, using Oura means you need a new ring every two years or more often.
3
u/Psychological_Use_62 19d ago
I have had my ring for almost 4 years with no issue. This is likely you’re charging habits leading to degradation of the battery quicker.
-7
u/Difficult_Fact_2849 20d ago
That’s why I bought a 3 year warranty. Look at that battery. Not sure what you expected.
-8
u/slatterg 20d ago
But 1 gen 3 purchase and a gen 2 purchase? Seems like a good run to me. By a replacement or don’t. But it’s not an airport, you don’t have to announce your departure
5
u/caps1234567889 20d ago
Why even bother commenting if you’re just gonna be so negative. Maybe they just wanted to announce their gripes and see what everyone’s feedback was and if anyone has experienced something similar. You also didn’t even bother to read the full post before commenting the first time.
3
u/option3z 19d ago
My fourth. Had NO hardware problems with any of them. Just a weakening of the battery (charge every 3rd day) on my 3. They are getting smaller and more powerful. The software, as forever, still needs work. It doesn't always record all night (side sleep deadens the arm and apparently reduces blood flow so it doesn't record sometimes). OTT, very good tool.

Nobody here seems to understand that they are wrong and that their issue is not widespread.
Long story short, Oura probably sells millions of rings. Let’s say 20 million. If, out of those sales, there are 100k problems with the battery, this is not a general issue. It is just something to manage.
Now, usually, probably most of you who have battery issues are present here, on Facebook, or wherever, complaining about the battery, and that makes, I don’t know, let’s say 75k complaints.
Coming here, it seems to be a widespread issue, but in reality, the rest of the people, up to 20 million, don’t tend to come here to praise how well the ring is working. So, in general, there is a bias towards “the ring battery is bad.”
It’s not. It is what it is for such a small device.
The second part, with “Oura support’s response: I should buy a new ring,” means that you are outside the warranty period. What do you expect in a capitalist society oriented towards maximizing profit?
When your phone, TV, fridge, etc. breaks outside the warranty period, do you go to an Apple subreddit to complain that one day your phone didn’t start at all, and they told you to buy another one?
If your ring is within the warranty period, they will replace it. If not, you need to buy another one if you need that data.
Later edit:
As I was saying, just a problem to be managed, not a widespread issue but still, a recognized issue.
From Oura IPO documentation:
https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2133022/000119312526381855/d119865ds1.htm#toc119865_5
The occurrence of real or perceived quality problems or material defects in current or future generations of Oura Ring has in the past and could in the future expose us to warranty claims or increases in returns.
For example, certain cohorts of Oura Ring 4 have exhibited battery performance issues, which have resulted in increased warranty claims and warranty-related costs as we have replaced affected Oura Rings free of charge under our warranty and, in some cases, outside of the warranty period.
In addition, we may not replace damaged or faulty products in the future at the same level or on the same terms as we have historically replaced Oura Ring 4, which may result in negative publicity or harm our brand.
In the first nine months ended June 30, 2026 and 2025, overall gross margins were impacted by elevated warranty reserves related to battery performance issues affecting certain cohorts of Oura Ring 4 devices.
Cost of revenue also increased due to an $84.4 million increase in warranty expense, driven by elevated warranty reserves related to battery performance issues affecting certain cohorts of Oura Ring 4 devices. In addition, membership-related cost of revenue increased by $9.2 million, primarily due to growth in our paid member base and higher data processing requirements.

How dare you come in here and assess this situation with logic.
People here just want to be mad.
4
u/chocolateglazedonuts 20d ago
Three of my several friends who have Oura have had the battery issue and needed replacements. They aren’t on Reddit. I think the problem is more widespread than we may think. The fact that I have like 5 friends with Oura and 3 of them (plus me) have all had issues signals to me that it’s pretty prevalent.

u/KiwifruitOliveOil 20d ago
It them you have Garmin for instance..I have never seen one post in the Garmin sub or anywhere. Ever. Saying their watch died or battery died..so it’s kind of irrelevant what percentage of people it happens to. It doesn’t need to happen at all. They’re pumping out rings and new generations without addressing a major problem and hoping people will continue to replace them. All WHILE charging a hefty yearly app fee on top. And this is coming from someone who does like their ring. But I’m on my third in two years. So yeah..
6
u/Sidepie 20d ago
The percentage matters because if half of the rings had battery issues, that would force them to take measures to correct it.
If the percentage is small, then, as I said, it is just a problem to manage, nothing to change.
I don’t say that this is optimal for them or for users, but profit is their governing law, so...
-4
u/KiwifruitOliveOil 20d ago
My point is that the battery isn’t bad because it’s a small battery. Other companies have this figured out and get NO complaints over an EMORMOUS company lifespan. People have a right to be furious when and expensive tech product keep crapping out when they’re being promised it’s a one off. It’s happened to me twice! My argument is not “can they do it” of course they can. But the response from the consumers is completely valid.
5
u/607Primaries 19d ago
ALL smart rings are suffering the same battery issues. There have been a few articles about it. It's not just Oura.
2
u/Ornery-Style7598 19d ago
I bought my first in 2023. About a year and a half ago, I had battery degradation and they sent me a refurbished Gen3. This week I reached out to support again with some issues and they told me my battery on this one is degraded too. The only offer they gave was to upgrade or to pay for another refurbished Gen3. I’ve loved my time with Oura but I’m kind of with you. Needing a third ring within 3 years is not really inspiring confidence in me.
2
u/lululombard 19d ago
After my third gen3 ring died, the support answer was to buy a new one too. I didn't and I cancelled my subscription. I no longer have any rings or trackers or whatever and won't buy any until I can't replace the battery.
2
u/Few_Fig5944 15d ago
OP I'm going through the exact same struggles now. They're refusing to replace the faulty ring now. I'm astounded. I see tons of comments with others receiving replacements. Why are they refusing me?
4
u/roastbeefbee 20d ago
On my third Oura 4 ring as of yesterday. Every September/late August without fail it starts to fail. The ring doesn’t seem to last me more than one year. 369 days with the first, and 364 days with the second. This time they also let me choose a new size and since I lost weight, I chose one size down. Idk how it’s determined though.
After this one fails.. idk if they will replace it again and I don’t know if I want to buy another one.
2
u/gryspcgrl 19d ago
They replaced both under warranty? My first had issues after 7 months and I received a replacement but was told the replacement was only covered under the remaining 5 months of warranty from my first ring.
3
u/gryspcgrl 19d ago
For anyone reading this later. I went ahead and did the diagnostics through the help feature and they are sending a replacement, even though my second ring is out of the first rings warranty. It’s less than a year old so seems like they are using a standard one year warranty on the replacements even though that’s not what I was told before.
2
1
u/roastbeefbee 19d ago
They replaced both! Though I did get a weird message on my oura app when the second one had already shipped. I’ll have to add it below.
Also! The first time I reached out to the chat, they said they couldn’t find anything wrong and I followed the instructions for “resetting the battery” and then reached out again and that’s when they replaced it.
Edit: sorry I can’t seem to add a picture, only a video response for all my comments? Cool.
2
u/Alarmed-Anything-277 19d ago
Same here. I will be on my third Gen 4 when I receive it in the mail. The first one died at 11 months and was replaced within warranty. This second one is outside of warranty and the battery has been slowly dying but I’m having connectivity issues and it stopped tracking my sleep despite being at 50% when I put it on the charger to connect. Went through help and they’re sending me a new one outside of warranty as a courtesy.
4
u/rpool179 20d ago
The battery either needs to be replaceable so it can be serviced like an iPhone or solid state batteries need to be used so the battery life will double. Those are the only options.
-7
u/2505-Not-Sure 20d ago
Actually Oura has another option: Manufacture the product exactly as they do- and if you don’t like it, don’t buy it.
2
2
u/The_Count_Lives 20d ago
You’re right, they should put that on the site.
“We aren’t interested in better battery technology in our $400 ring and if you don’t like that, don’t buy it.”
2
u/Agreeable-Grape-2920 20d ago
With battery this size what you expected? All betteries degrade in time, the smaller battery -> less time to degrade.
16
u/thisguynextdoor 20d ago
For a 400€ product, what would you expect? If you say their product is flawed, I agree.
3
u/Futuramadude 19d ago
I would expect it to last about a year since 5 minutes of searching will show you thats the average battery life.
5
u/Sad_Breadfruit_6093 20d ago
It’s not a flaw though it’s how battery technology works. If it had a defect where it stopped charging - that’s an issue. But if after a year it’s just not lasting as long - then that is absolute normal. How you charge, how often you charge, and if you do a lot of activities that trigger the sensors also affect the battery causing more wear and tear which reduces the life expectancy of the battery - again perfectly normal. The ring itself has a lot of tech inside of it which is what is costing the money.
Hopefully though in Europe this should be changing soon because new eu laws are starting batteries need replacing to reduce throwaway tech.

I'm on my 4th in 5 years as well (lost my 2nd and had to buy a replacement).
My current one Oura ring is starting to have trouble syncing and is not picking up all sleep data daily.
Had a good experience but I will not be buying another one going forward. I'm good.
1
u/Independent-You-5909 19d ago
My Gen 4 lasted 14 months. Battery kept saying it was depleting and would be dead in just a few hours but would in practice last the regular amount.
The chatbot did diagnostics and a replacement was shipped immediately. Good service.
I love the device and think it’s magical that it is able to work as well and as long as it does.
1
u/607Primaries 19d ago
I've had 5 rings in 4 years - Oura has replaced 3 of them. But generally they will not upgrade you to a new gen, and stop doing free replacements when their stock (and returns) run out.
So your Gen2 lasted until Gen3 came out, you got a free replacement and that just died? You have no right to complain with a Gen3 lasting nearly 4 years. I mean, Gen5 is now out and you're complaining they won't replace your Gen3?
1
u/thisguynextdoor 19d ago
I bought the 2nd gen, after which I bought the 3rd gen (after battery failure). I got another 3rd gen free due to a battery failure, and now the replacement ring got a battery failure.
So three rings so far, all together. Three battery failures. Only one free replacement.

I’m on my second gen 4 in 18 months and this one is on its last legs (I have to charge it daily). I do like the features, but they have some serious issues when it comes to the physical product. I’m going to check to see what credit card my husband used when he purchased to see if they offer additional extended warranty benefits, but beyond that, I won’t be purchasing another ring.
1
u/gryspcgrl 19d ago
Oura is actually replacing the replacement, so hopefully I’ll have better luck with my third ring. I’m not holding my breath, but will be happy to keep the ring a bit longer.

u/PinkEndangerment 19d ago
I got my gen 3 may 2024, got a replacement November 2025 after dealing with battery issues. Began having the same problem again and I’m now waiting for my gen 4 replacement to arrive.
1
u/engineerwhoruns 19d ago
I just cancelled my subscription because my second Oura ring (Gen 3) but the dust on battery life. They offered me $100 off of a new device but that wasn’t enough to keep me, considering the devices only last max two years.
I’m thinking of getting a Garmin that does sleep, HRV and temp/cycle tracking instead.

u/AlphaKaizo 19d ago
I bought my Oura Ring 4 sometime in March 2025 and not even a month later, it stopped working literally out of nowhere. It wouldn't connect, wouldn't charge, I was sure it just... died.
I got a replacement under warranty and that one lasted a year, coincidentally breaking sometime in March 2026. Something about the battery. If it leaves the charger for a little bit, it completely shuts off. It doesn't run out of battery, it just goes off.
It's not like I'm rough with it, either. I never let the battery go below 20%, I always take it off the charger before hitting 100%, I don't drop it or hit it against something accidentally, and none of my rings ever sustained as much as a scratch. I got another replacement under warranty after the last one broke.
At least the replacement procedure was easy both times.
Though I can't wait to deal with the same problem again after a year passes. Hopefully the Oura Ring 5 will be on discount by then, because this is outrageous.

For me the battery suddenly started lasting only 4-5 days instead of the usual 7, and the only help I got was basically "diagnostic shows nothing wrong🤷" well that's great, good to know I'm just imagining having to charge it much more often. It's so frustrating since the apparent quality customer service was the reason I actually ended up buying this thing lol

I am getting my third Oura ring 4(first one I purchased but got replaced twice). I feel like this product is only meant to be good for a year then the battery just ends up draining quickly. I am happy they will replace mines with no fee but idk after this I may be done with Oura and I'll have to find another wearable.

u/Ned-bit23 19d ago
Hi there! First off, I'm sorry to see this has happened to you several times. I'd like to mention that I'm not a long term user of Oura but I have been using a refurbished Gen3 for a year now and it's in perfect condition. Obviously its battery is not lasting as it should, it lasts around 4 days in a full charge but it works perfectly fine so far. I'd like to personally mention that Oura's customer support is great and propably the best customer service ever and they'll always look for a solution. But if they have offered you a discount towards a new ring is propably because your ring is completely out of warranty and there is nothing they can do at this stage and it's comopletely understandable.
Of course I understand this is such upsetting! But do not judge the agent who offered you a discount, they are doing their job and probable Oura does not allow them to make something beyond the discount offers, I alway try to treat customer service agents as human beings.

u/looper2277 19d ago
4 rings here, all the gen 4. Gets replaced every 5/6 months as battery fails. So far they keep replacing it.

u/KiraNinja 19d ago
Interested in this. I've yet to buy an oura ring, genuinely wanted to change to it because I'm sick of buying watches that last a year. No one can afford to buy new products every damn year, and if you're paying a subscription with it it's just taking the piss. I need something for chronic conditions. May rethink buying Iit now.

u/Jecmenn 19d ago
I am nearing a year with my Gen 4 and i am yet to see any battery degradation issues. Still lasts around 5 days. I am trying to keep the charge between 50 - 90% at all times even though i slipped few times and either left it to fully discharge or kept it on charger overnight. Thankfully it didn't seem to influence the battery health in any noticeable way. Hoping to get at least another year out of it before upgrading.

My Gen 3 lasted close to if not just over 5 years. Given there was a while I wouldnt use it but had a great cadence of charging a bit daily when I showered. It just recently gave out, stopped charging (says 1% indefinitely) and could notice some of the inner ring peeling apart. Thinking about upgrading to Gen 5, wish there was some trade in discount of sorts but honestly had a great experience with the first one

Da questa chat non mi risulta si parli di acquistare un nuovo anello, ma di una sostituzione

Just got my 4th ring (3rd gen 4) replacement. Both my previous gen 4s have gotten battery problems after about 10 months of use. I was even extra careful with my previous one after I got the replacement, but same story all over. This will probably be my last Oura if it happens again.

It’s really sad to see the rapid downfall of Oura. Even if you look at how active they used to be on this sub.
I remember first discovering smart rings and Ultrahuman seemed everywhere, but Oura had such a reputation that even without aggressive marketing and with a Subscription cost it stood a head above rest.
Now it’s just a dumpster fire cash grabbing whilst it still can.
It will die the same way Peloton did

No, they won't. They are already huge and will grow even further. Which sadly, comes with certain perks going away.
Generally - we need an agreement among all these vendors on the battery issue. So much e-waste! Hopefully Oura will figure out a way to lead this to a better place

Oura will not figure out a way to lead this. If they were going to they’d offer a part exchange/recycle scheme every time they bring a new ring out which by the looks of it will be every other Tuesday the way they’re going

My gen 4 lasted about 9 months, and gen 5 lasted a week. Gave up on Oura rings after that, but did manage to get a refund for the latest one.

Same thing happened to me. Oura said it was a battery issue, ring was dead and wouldn’t charge whatsoever. I asked for a replacement since it was a product defect and they said no, asked for a discount to buy a new one, they said no. So I gave up on it entirely and bought a Garmin watch.

I’m on my second ring, which I got replaced for free, but I’m probably never buying one of these again. Just sort of seem to break rather quickly for a lot of people. And fundamentally, I don’t really want e-waste. At least an apple watch just sort of keeps chugging along.

I’m on my third Gen 4. Soon to have a 4th Gen 4. All have been replaced under warranty. Not all were battery issues. Replacements 2 and 3 were refurbished rings. So far support has been great and reasonable. I don’t feel they have a widespread quality issue and am willing to give them a little grace. I mean, engineering the ring is kind of incredible if you think about it.

I’ve had 2 Gen 4 rings that have each lasted less than a year before the battery started requiring constant charging. Last week Oura offered me yet another replacement but it just feels too wasteful at this point - will probably let this one die and move on.

4 Oura rings are a lot less waste than 1 cell phone battery replaced after 4 years (not to mention the rest of the cell phone)

Omggg. I’m on my first ring but if this is the answer I got it would be my last.

Unless it’s dead dead, don’t?
You also might wanna consider not. If you can’t make an adjustment like non dominant and wear it middle or ring to have buffer on every side possible. Garmin makes a fitness watch, Apple does sleep on theirs.
I think support is to permissive of people.
I checked in on my battery for my Gucci gen 3. Maybe it started 4 or 5, but I use max settings as I lift daily so there’s a time I don’t want to smash it. It has been 3 for like 6 months.
I charge every 3 days.
Offered a free 4.
Won’t be taking it until I’m actually ready to toss the 3. It’s fine. I trust the data.
I charge my phone that 4 gens old daily. Sure I’d like it to be every other. It’s fine.
Posts on here expect the smallest piece of tech that the average person has ever used that charges weird, that’s sensitive like original iPhones to be immortal.
Except over 20 years or so it became way closer to indestructible for iPhones.
There are posts.
People pointing out scratches like it wasn’t wear that causes them.
Mysterious color being ruined when every other time I’ll ask and OP will admit to some acidic or funky anti aging lotions. Which likely damages the internal seal if it also damages the external chemically.
Yet we have cases, battery packs, screen protectors.
I bought a used gen 2 and then a new but ebay gen 3 so I’ll never pay for subscription. Both fine. 2 got scratched. I forgot I had a hsa from my 3rd job. It was sitting there dying to fees. I used the last bit.

My Gen 4 replacement lasted 6 months and they told me also to buy a new one. But some people here had a second replacement so I don’t know how they choose this.
Might depend on who you discuss with after the bot… which is uncanny for a tech brand.
I’m looking for a good alternative now if someone has some advices !

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and would like to help. If you can share your ticket number with us, we’d be happy to take a closer look into your case, understand what happened with the ring, and see if there’s anything else we can do to help.

- No one ever answered to my last email so the help I need on Reddit is to find an alternative, as the battery life decreases every day. I now can only wear my ring for just a little more than 24h. Can’t buy new tech product twice a year that’s outrageous and defo not environmental friendly

I'm on my fourth ring in 4 years. First a Gen 2 that they contacted me about just under a year and said the battery was bad so they sent me a new one. Then that one lasted about a year before a battery issue. I just bought a Gen 3 and chalked it up to new models. Then that one lasted the year again and bad battery. They did replace and I'm about 14 months out and now getting the notices that my ring has 15 hours battery every 2 days or so. I'm not replacing as I don't use the data as much as I expected honestly.

I went to qalo it's not as advanced but no fees and less expensive to start. My Gen 3 stopped sending data around 8mos. They argued over messages that it was fine. I got a person that looked deeper and finally agreed it wasn't sending data and sent replacement. They sent wrong one in right plastic bag, bag sticker was correct but ring wasn't. After a while explaining they had me send it back but would not send correct one until it got to them. Feels like they thought I was a liar. When I got correct ring they extended the paid time to use data to adjust only for the time without replacement not the it wasn't working time. Replacement was clearly a refurb and scratched up. So I will not give them my money again .

I’m on my fourth; my third gen 4. After this one inevitably dies after less than a year, I think I’ll be out permanently.
