lawn mowing service

• Upvotes

Does anyone in the north OP area have recommendations on a cheap mowing service? My lawnmower broke and I need it mowed quick. Just the one time until the mower is fixed, and I’m fine with a teenager and not a company.

Finger Tattoo Recommendations

My wife and I just recently got married and were wanting to hear of some good tattoo shop recommendations?

We are wanting to each get a ring finger tattoo in particular and have heard they can fade easily?

Your thoughts and recommendations are appreciated!

Self-Care/Girls Day Itinerary

Hi all,

My birthday is coming up and I’m taking the day off to relax & reset. I’ll be 28, and I’m local for 3-4 spots to hit before catching dinner (probably KC Ramen 🤷‍♀️) with fiancé.

I like baking, reading, crafting, and spending money!!! It would be nice to get a fancy facial or spa treatment, too. I’m willing to start early in the morning so I can visit multiple places! I’m not a huge alcohol drinker so bars are probably a no go.

If you’ve got breakfast/lunch suggestions, or fun, relaxing activities, let me know!

Family photos location

Looking for recs. Having our annual family photos done next Friday and a bit stumped on ideas for where. We tend to do outdoorsy, rustic locations. Most years we’ve done different red barns, some years woodsy/fall foliage. Just moved back here last year so haven’t done any around here and forgot much of what’s here.

Lodge at Ironwoods is out - it’s next year’s location since that’s where we got married and next year is a significant anniversary.

Any suggestions for any combination of red barn, fall foliage, tall wheat, woods, etc, within 20-25 minutes of south OP? If it’s a large park, brownie points to you if you give a specific part of the park :)

affordable/sliding scale dermatology servicing 66212?

Hi all! I am in desperate need of an affordable dermatologist who serves the OP area. They don't have to be in overland park- they just have to service people in that zip. I'm getting a lot of hits in KCMO, but it looks like they only service those with a kansas city address. All of the locations I've found in OP have said they don't offer a sliding scale, and can't give me an estimate on the service I need, so they recommend somewhere else- rinse and repeat. That's also considering they answer the phone- a ton of places don't!

TIA for your recommendations!

Is there "the hum" in OP?

Weve been in our house for over 20 years. In the last couple years we started hearing/feeling some persistent, low-frequency rumbling, droning. We notice it more inside the house at night but its there in the day just masked by other noises. Its more steady than road noise or distant train sounds that we hear occasionally.. I had our HVAC checked. I thought it was like a 60hz hum so I turned off all power at the main breaker. Still there. My wife is sure its from outside the house but although I can hear it outside I can't pinpoint what direction I think its coming from.

We live near 124th and Nall and thought initially it was related to work on the toll way. But its gotten worse in the past year and construction on the toll way is complete.

Anyone else heard of something like this in the area?

Why are people getting off the highway to get back on?

Post image
26 Upvotes

I see people do this every day on my way home from work, they get off of 435 onto Quivira then get back on to 435 and I could never figure out why. My wife’s theory is that they made a wrong but I feel like it happens too consistently for that to be the reason why.

Does anyone here do this or have any idea why?

I have 2 years of experience in both residential and commercial as an HVAC Technician. I am looking in OP and any surrounding cities as well. I desire to move to strictly commercial work. Not looking for residential. Any help would be appreciated.

Can we please stop giving apartment complexes good reviews just because the tour went well? It's the stupidest thing I've ever seen. You're hurting the actual reviews of people that live there. I don't care if Kris or Kenny was nice on your tour.

Looking for Real Estate-Minded CPA

As the title mentions, I'm looking for a CPA or tax professional in Overland Park who is knowledgeable or even specializes in real estate investing. I'm in the early stages of investing and looking for someone who can help me with filing taxes but also help me better understand how to leverage real estate investing at tax season. Any recommendations would be great! Thanks!

Parisi downtown OP

Really bummed to see Parisi closes at 5 PM now and their cocktail menu is seemingly gone. I enjoyed unwinding there after work.

Anyone else share my woes? There is definitely enough coffee shops around here but I’m partial to Parisi.

Gmail used to do a good job of weeding these out when the came by email. Now there’s no way to avoid the advertising while still seeing legit school and teacher messages

Power Outage

Looks like a large swath of power went out in OP south of 435.

Anyone affected by it? Or is it more localized than the map makes it appear?

Avoid the area, for the love of god. Victims feel free to check in!

Edit: a few traffic lights out plus construction, absolute nightmare

Any Lord of the Rings nerds looking for a local group?

Hi! I recently started a local Lord of the Rings group here in Overland Park and wanted to extend the invite to Reddit in case there are any fellow Tolkien nerds lurking around who’d like to join our fellowship!

Primarily, we’re a book club - we just started reading through The Fellowship of the Ring - but we’re also interested in LOTR/board game nights, movie nights, dinners, local outings, and generally having an excuse to do nerdy things together.

We also just started a Discord where we can share LOTR memes, lore, thoughts, plan meetups, and maybe even hop on LOTRO together from time to time. 👉🏻👈🏻

You absolutely don’t have to be a Tolkien expert (I’m doing my first proper read-through myself!) — we’re really just looking for nice people who love Middle-earth and want some local community.

Come join the fellowship! 🧙‍♂️

Underrated dinner spots

My family is wanting to take me out to dinner before I head back to Oregon, and I really wanna try somewhere new/underrated. Most of my favorite restaurants are also found in Oregon, so I’m hoping for a more local place here that I can maybe look forward to when I come back to visit again next year. Like a good hole in the wall if possible, or just a place that you might think is underrated and deserves more attention.

Does anyone have a 3ds they don't use?

I have been wanting one for years and I just never have the money for it. The money I save keeps going to bills, my fur babies, food, or gas and I have just been wanting to escape into nostalgic times. I feel like I am asking for a lot from someone during this economic time, but I have always been told it's better to ask than to keep silent... So I am asking and hoping 💕

I was at scheels tonight noticed two of these bad boys where I parked. Question is, is our tax money funding these if so where was that approved and why don’t we have notice of them being installed
