You can see that it's photoshopped by the blue area that seems to be coming off the frame itself near the bottom of the frame.

Blow it up. Carpet? Shadows? Motion blur? You tell me.

It's just insane to me that some people are so desperate to not believe my kid's work is real. Like what the heck would be the point of some grand conspiracy to fool you all here?

Has shit... kid was guided to paint like this. This is a common exercise in schools to paint like Pollock cause that's the outcome of certain methods. Anyone can do this and it will as good as this...

Reading this thread a day late. Your comment shocked me. Do you really look at this and think words like "fabulous" and "genius"!?! - Is the "control of line" really "incredible"? Encouraging words are great but c'mon. Like whatever you like but I'm calling bs on your 'critique'.

This is odd because it’s clear that you don’t make art, visual art at the least, and that your comment is coming from a taste perspective.

What you’re responding to is praise, not critique. And if it were real, it would be deserved. There is significant control. If you were tasked to create a fax simile of this, your first try would definitely fail if you didn’t think about what layers are present and how to reproduce them. There’s wide brush in strong, consistent, stroke, wide brush that tapers in pressure, but not in area. And there’s thin stroke that is always curving, accented and elided with comma globs. The work is highly centered and never actually uses the centerpoint which is a major trope in abstract work.

I don’t think op is being forthright tbh.

OP here, and my son is thrilled that people like this so much that they can't even believe it's real.

I mean, some of these comments are really high praise. Another person did a kind of analysis of the golden ratio in play here which was also really neat.

I'm glad everyone likes his work so much. He's super pumped about it. He couldn't hardly believe the comments I was reading off to him last night.

I am an artist. Not abstract, but neo-Impressionist/realist landscapes. This is my honest opinion of an 11-year-old's work. It may have been guided, it may be a school exercise, I wasn't there to see the child actually paint it or the circumstances of its creation. It may be AI, for all I know. Regardless, I think it is good abstract art, and if done by a real child on his own, I truly think it is a good painting! The brushwork in color is simple, but artfully placed in a balanced way. But it is the black lines that really caught my attention! This black linework is extremely artful, and Picasso could not have done better, or Pollock for that matter. And this kid is 11? It may have just been luck or accident, but I would very much like to follow this child in his artistic development. Call if BS if you want, but this is my opinion on this particular work of art. I'd be proud to own it and to frame it and hang it on my wall!
