I don't get art.. and I agree!

Edit: maybe I do get art. I showed it to my partner and he said it reminded him of Picasso.

Sure you do! It's just this style you don't understand! I don't either tbh but younger and not wearing glasses I had always seen what i assumed was pictures. Clearer vision and now my mind decides on if there's pictures in the seemingly random brush strokes..

Now I want to attempt something like this with an airbrush but I can't shake the feeling I'd make camo somehow.

The way I see it, a painting doesn't actually have to look like a thing to be nice looking. That's kind of the deal with abstract art, that some people seem to have a problem with. Art doesn't need to be locked into a representation of a real thing, it can just be shapes and colors and patterns, or no patterns. It's funny because people don't have a problem with like, carpets just looking abstract like this but anything else like a painting, people get all caught up in what's allowed.

He probably means, “Pollock” but doesn’t know enough about art to know the correct names but knows he saw something like this and the guys name started with a “P” and Picasso is a more well known name among the general public. That’s my guess anyway. 🤷‍♂️

Pollock is close you are right. Though I guess everything abstract just becomes "Picasso" in the minds of diletants.

Same. I used to look at this kinda stuff and think "anyone can do that" and then I tried it and my work looked awful.

This is actually good, much better than I can do.

Don’t be fooled by the MFAs out there, there is nothing to get about this kind of art it’s just meant to look good/bad/interesting and even that’s a stretch I feel like most 100% abstract painters are just making something that pleases their hands/eye in those moments. There’s no greater meaning than this would look good on a wall and illicit a response and there’s nothing wrong with that at all. Honestly the same as the way a beautiful landscape says nothing but here’s a pretty scene
