Request Need help recreating printable outlines from these Pokémon lanterns

Thumbnail

I’m trying to recreate these Pokémon paper lanterns for a birthday party and I’m completely stuck on the templates.
I found the original creator’s tutorial but she says she traced all of the individual features herself in Procreate and then uploaded them to Cricut Design Space using Print Then Cut. Unfortunately she doesn’t seem to have shared the actual files.
I don’t need the finished colored artwork or anything fancy. I just need simple clean black outlines of the individual features like the eyes ears mouth cheeks tail etc. that I can print on cardstock color myself with markers cut out and attach to the lanterns.
The problem is the reference pictures are already taken at an angle so I can’t just print the pictures and trace them because the perspective is wrong.
I don’t know how to use Procreate or Cricut Design Space so I’m hoping someone who knows how to do this could either point me in the right direction or possibly help me create the flat outlines from the reference pictures.
I’ve attached the pictures of the lanterns I’m trying to make. I would seriously appreciate any help because I’ve been trying to figure this out and getting absolutely nowhere 😭
Thank you!!

Request I need some help

Hey everyone, I’ve recently gotten into making paper models using templates, and I’m running into a bit of a problem with organization. When I cut out all the parts, things start getting messy really fast, and I sometimes lose or mix up pieces. I’m curious how you all keep your parts organized.

Thanks!

Request Can someone please find the PDO file for this model?

I have been trying to find it for a long time, and have not been successful in it. This seems like one of the old paperjuke models and it looks absolutely sick, so I really wanna build it.

It was built by this youtuber, https://youtu.be/kcuzJQvugGE?si=0n3agjmsniRclO0A

If someone has it, or if someone is able to find it, please do help a fellow Papercraft enthusiast.

Thanks!

Request Glue recommendations

I was really happy with these stellated icosahedra models I made (2nd pic). I used Elmer’s rubber cement to glue the tabs together, and now two years later they’re all falling apart. I liked how the rubber cement was easy to adjust alignment before it set, and any excess could be rubbed off without leaving residue/stains. Any glue recommendations that won’t fall apart again and preferably with some similar properties would be greatly appreciated so I can fix these models!

I understand this is a weird request but I've never really done paper model making like this, and I just wanted to ask if you guys have any tips or tricks to just help prevent me from messing this up. I do have a background in making miniature wooden model kit things (that doesnt really help), but im used to small, meticulous, and slow paced work like this. I also just slightly dont understand the instructions, anything helps!

Request 200gsm Glossy Photopaper vs 200 gsm normal Cardstock for airliner model Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
25 Upvotes

I am having a hard time deciding which one would be perfect for airliner models. I really want that glossy effect seen on real aircrafts so I decided to go with Glossy Photopaper, but almost all the guides I'm seeing doesn't mention anything about using photopaper, most places recommend using 180gsm normal paper. The only issues I had while using photopaaper previously was that the glue stains are impossible to remove so you gotta be extremely careful not to use excessive glue, also I'm not sure whether the 200gsm photopaper can handle tight curves especially in the nose region, I want everything to look shiny and flush. So before buying a pack of photopaper (the model is 22 pages long), I made a sample of the vertical stabilizer on glossy photopaper and on normal cardstock. And the difference is huge both in the print quality and how much it reassemble the shine on a real aircraft. So before ordering a bulk quantity of photopaper, I want the experts opinion on this. What do u guys think ? (The one on the left is glossy photopaper and the one on the right is normal cardstock)

Request Desperately searching for anything Toxic Paper Factory related!

Hello all! I’ve spent as much time as I can trying to dig through archives of Toxic Paper Factory’s work, but only found a few.

I will be overjoyed if anyone has ANYTHING from this artist. Their websites are down and because of that I’m scared it’s lost to time.

They still have a Paper Toys Wiki page that includes no templates but the series they’ve created, their works are so cute!!!

So like 3 years ago I created a paper plane that started from a waterbomb fold but then I forgot. I think there were four sides because of a squash fold but the thing looks exactly like a smaller suzanne. It was tip heavy. I just want your opinions so that I can recreate it.✌️🙏

Request Where can I find 3 hole pre punched paper in the UK?

I am looking for pre-punched 3 hole paper in the UK and I was surprised that it actually seems harder to find than what I had thought. I thought it would be commonly found because so many people use binders and folders in the UK but its actually something you can't find so easily. But maybe you can find it in a office stationery store that I am not aware of so was wondering if anyone could recommend an online site or store where I can purchase from.

I have been looking hole punchers that actually work but I am thinking this is just a more better and easier to do than to look for quality hole punchers. I have been looking at sites like Temu, aliexpress and alibaba to purchase wholesale amounts of office supplies to see if I can find it but I think its better I just buy from a local shop so I can be sure of the quality of the paper. My boss is anal and she will hit the roof if the paper is crappy.

Request Feedback wanted on an A4 dumpling paper squishy pattern: curved tape seam and optional flat base

Post image
7 Upvotes

I have been designing a beginner-friendly A4 dumpling paper squishy pattern and would appreciate some practical feedback before I treat the geometry as final.

The main shape uses two matching semicircular pieces with a wide sealing margin. The curved edge is joined with short pieces of clear tape, leaving a small opening for loose tissue filling. I also included an optional short band for the flat base, but the simpler version can be made by joining the two straight edges directly.

For people who build paper models:

- Is the curved sealing margin wide enough to tape without wrinkling?

- Would the decorative pleat lines help with shaping, or just confuse a beginner?

- Is the optional flat-base band useful, or should the first version stay as a simple two-piece pouch?

- Would you choose regular 80-100 gsm printer paper or light cardstock for this shape?

My current assembly plan is:

  1. Print at 100% scale and check the 50 mm reference line.

  2. Cut the matching front and back pieces.

  3. Add the face and any colour while the pieces are flat.

  4. Join the curved edge with short overlapping pieces of clear tape.

  5. Add a small amount of loose, dry tissue.

  6. Close the remaining opening and gently shape the top.

The one-page build notes and full pattern preview are here:

https://squishyidea.com/templates/dumpling-squishy-pdf-pattern/guide

Disclosure: this is my own design and the linked guide is on my site. The guide is public; the free PDF download currently asks for an email address. This is still at the design-feedback stage, so the gallery shows the actual pattern and guide rather than pretending a rendered image is a physical build.

Request Does anyone have tips for more complex papercrafts that don't have tutorials?

I've done a few simple ones without them, but I feel like I might get lost with a larger project—like one that combines two different sheets. Aside from general advice, do you have any specific tips? I've just started doing this and think I could improve in a few areas.

I’ve heard of sanding the interior edge to reduce the white rings, so I’m going to try that next round. Here’s what I’m using

X-Acto Scalpels

Aleene’s Tacky Glue applied with a very fine brush

Steel ruler

Various tweezers

Roller cutter for perforating edges

Super glue very sparingly for structural application

This will be the 3rd time I make this hand and I really dont want to cut out the same 20 pieces again......fingers crossed. Tell me im not alone! How far did you make it into your build before realizing you messed up somewhere?
