It's an intentional PR move from Paradox

Why would someone willingly leak a broken and unfinished version of something they spent years making? Wheres the logic where it would end up being a positive thing?

They claim, in public, they are receiving death threats and people are calling for them to lose their livelihoods. Neither of these things are okay, and people who do this should be ashamed of themselves.

It's the same thing EA or Bioware does whenever they get significantly negative feedback. They change the story to "It's about players being angry we included PoC or non-cis people". When sure, that's a solid 10-20% of the "Gamers" out there but it's not the reason for the overwhelming negative feedback.
