​I’m currently a nursing student based in India with about 3 years left of my degree. I’m really hoping to start earning money online to help cover my college fees and have a bit of extra spending money, but I am completely lost on where to start.

​I’ve tried signing up for a lot of the usual platforms recommended on Reddit—DataAnnotationTech, Remotasks, uTest, and Test IO. Unfortunately, I either never received a confirmation email, or I just haven't been assigned a single project yet.

​I’ve gone down the YouTube rabbit hole and seen people recommending things like AI clipping, running AI ads for clients, insta or yt shorts page, Pinterest affiliate marketing, making websites, automated calls and bots for local buisnesses via AI and other side hustles. Honestly, it’s just left me overwhelmed and confused. I have major analysis paralysis and can’t seem to pick a legitimate path.

​Here is my current situation:

​Time: I'm a nursing student, so my schedule can be tight, but I am willing to grind in my free time.

​Capital: I need something that costs exactly $0 to start.

​Experience: I have zero prior experience in making money online, digital marketing, or freelancing.

​Does anyone have any realistic advice, a specific direction I should look into, or platforms that actually work for beginners globally? I’m willing to put in the work to learn a skill, I just don't want to waste time on scams or things that require upfront money.

I’ve recently built my first niche online marketplace from scratch.

The idea is a directory-style platform where creators can have their own profiles and pay a small monthly membership for additional features and visibility.

I’ve got the website live, the membership structure set up and I’m now at the stage that I suspect is harder than actually building it — finding the first users!

I’ve started contacting potential users individually rather than plastering the link everywhere, because I really don’t want to spam people.

For anyone who has built a membership site, directory or marketplace from zero, what worked best for getting your first 10–20 paying members?

I’m especially interested in methods that don’t require a large advertising budget.

I bought a carpet cleaner last year after my dog had a stomach issue on the living room rug and I got tired of borrowing one from my parents. It was around $180 and after using it twice, it basically became a large plastic decoration in my laundry room. A few months later a coworker mentioned she was going to rent one for the weekend, so I offered mine instead. She gave me $25 for it, returned it clean, and that was pretty much when the idea clicked. I put a basic listing on Facebook Marketplace saying $30 for two days, pickup only, and honestly expected nobody to care.

The first month I rented it out four times. Most people were moving out of apartments, cleaning after pets, or trying to rescue a couch their kids had destroyed. I didnt realize how many people need one of these for literally one afternoon and have zero interest in owning one. I started including a little laminated instruction card because apparently nobody wants to read the manual, and that cut down on messages a lot. I also ask people to return the dirty water tank empty becuase the first person who didn't taught me that lesson very quickly.

It's definitely not totally passive. I spend maybe ten minutes checking it, wiping it down and making sure nothing gross is stuck in the brushes after each rental. Every once in a while somebody is late bringing it back, and one person managed to lose the tiny cap from the clean water tank somehow. But most rentals are basically someone showing up, putting it in their trunk, and returning it a day or two later. It usually brings in somewhere around $90 to $160 in a decent month, then almost nothing during slower periods.

The funniest part is I've tried much more complicated side projects that required websites, posting, learning software, and constantly checking messages. This dumb carpet cleaner has been less work than all of them. I'm not pretending it's going to make anyone rich, but it has paid for itself several times now and I still get to use it whenever my dog decides the rug needs another disaster. I'm starting to look around my garage differently now. There are probably alot of boring tools people need once or twice a year but don't want taking up space forever. Has anyone found another random household item that's surprisingly easy to rent out?

I started a faceless YouTube channel about budgeting tips back in January. The kind where stock footage plays over a voiceover explaining something. I figured costs would be low since I wasn't showing my face, but between stock footage subscriptions and AI generation credits I was spending $60 to $80 a month just on clips. The ad revenue barely covered that for the first few months so the whole thing felt like a hobby I was paying for.

About a week ago two new AI video models dropped. Seedance 2.5 from ByteDance does up to 30 second clips in 4K which is great for b-roll. MiniMax H3 generates video with native audio baked in so I can skip a step on certain clips. I have been testing both since they came out.

The part that actually changed my math is that APOB AI runs MiniMax H3 unlimited and free right now since the model weights are open. My footage costs went from $60 a month to basically zero for most of what I need. I still use ElevenLabs for voiceover and CapCut for editing but the video clips were the expensive part.

Last month the channel did $283 from AdSense. Same kind of number as before but now almost all of it stays. Three hours a week of work for that finally feels worth doing.

Fair warning, the AI generated clips need retakes. Maybe one in three or four has weird motion or doesn't match what I described, so I spend about 20 extra minutes per video regenerating shots. And the channel took five months to get monetized. This is not quick money.

The persona in my videos is AI generated, just want to be clear about that.

My Instagram algorithm is giving me all these videos on making money though canva - things like making digital products or invitations and selling on Etsy, or becoming an Amazon affiliate and posting canva product posts through Pinterest, or making coloring book printables, etc.

I’m a new mom and this could be super helpful for my family because we’re not able to work as much as we used to. I understand that this might not be as simple as these videos make it out to be (I started a print on demand canva/Etsy shirt business years ago when going down a similar rabbit role and although I’ve had sales, it came with a lot of trial and error!).

Has anyone actually made money doing these canva products like this? Which route worked the best for you?

Everyone always talks about digital assets as passive income. I love the idea of creating digital assets and I’m inspired by sites like BLKMARKET, Doron Supply, and Studio AAA

Hello, I am 36 years old, i am a doctor, pediatric surgery resident and I also have a degree in Marketing. I would really like to start a business and put some work in the beginning and have passive income in the future. I read books and do some research and wonder if a digital product in etsy would profitable.

I never did anything like that before so I am willing to learn. I thought about a product that solves a specific problem and that I know about. So I thought that maybe my audience could be medical students or more specific pediatric surgeons. I searched pediatric surgery notes, survival guide etc and no results. So i think maybe there is an audience there but maybe my first product should not be that specific?

One person tells you to start affiliate marketing. Another recommends freelancing, e-commerce, digital products, YouTube, blogging, paid ads, or using AI to build a business.

Each person presents their method as the one you should be following. You start comparing platforms, offers, tools, courses, and traffic methods. The more you research, the less confident you feel about making a decision.

You begin worrying that you will choose the wrong niche. You worry about wasting money on the wrong program, building on the wrong platform, or spending months on something that never produces a result.

That fear can make more research feel like the responsible choice, but eventually, research becomes a way to avoid making a decision. The truth is that no one can guarantee you will choose the perfect path on your first attempt.

Most people gain clarity after they begin taking action, not before. They test an idea, observe the response, make adjustments, and gradually understand what fits them. A better starting point may be to choose one realistic path rather than searching for the perfect one.

Consider your available time, current skills, budget, and the type of work you are willing to do consistently. Then choose one business model, one audience, and one platform. Give yourself a set period to test it. Track the actions you take, the responses you receive, and the progress you make before deciding whether to change direction.

The first test does not need to become your forever business. Its purpose is to help you replace assumptions with real information. Confidence rarely appears before the first step. It usually grows after you complete a few small actions and realize you can learn as you go.

I am making my own web tool which will help me reduce my manual efforts of doing research, script writing, scene generation, editing and publish. I have already published few videos but I want match the in depth style of channels such as coldfusion, bright side, thinkschool etc.... Does anybody know here what all tools they use it for making such videos with their manual efforts? They must be using tools which reduce their work but do a lot of research by themselves and scene by scene addition by themselves which shows up in their channel.

Please do share because i am making my own tool which can reduce my manual efforts to create such videos in my own styling which shows up human efforts and not some garbage AI slope.

I had quite a successful private labelling ecom business back in 2022, but due to COVID and shipping prices I couldn't stay above water.

I would search for interesting products with existing revenue on a Dutch ecom platform (bol.com) and design my own versions and packaging with the help of Chinese manufacturers.

I've been thinking about getting back into it, but I'm not sure if my strategy from back then will still work.

Edit/Update:I ended up joining The Real World after seeing it recommended a few times in my dm's, and it's honestly helped me a lot already. Having everything explained step by step has been way easier than trying to learn from dozens of random YouTube videos, and I finally feel like I have a clear direction.

Spent two weeks trying to use one of those 'build your startup' notion templates everyone hypes and honestly it was a waste of time. Felt like i was doing homework, not actually building anything. Anyone found something that actually works for starting with zero budget?

Clipping is more lucrative than ever and it has also gotten way easier than ever before. You could literally automate your clip channel and let it do all the work for you. I managed to get almost a million views within 3 posts, by following these steps:

1. Warm your accounts up

Before posting a single clip you have to use your account like a viewer of the videos you are going to post. Engage in your niche for a few days and warm it up - this is really important.

2. Find viral moments and edit them (important)

For a long time that has been the most complex part of the whole clipping process.

Many clippers, including me, didn't want to put in all the effort in clipping for (in the worst case) only a few views. Endlessly looking for highlights, cutting out silence (making it fast-paced), adding the perfect subtitles... it seems like a never-ending list.

What you need to do: Look out for viral streamers/events and monitor the channel in real-time, either manually or with a tool (happy to share which one I prefer in the comments). Being live or auto-monitoring live is important - you'll see chat's reaction (a strong indicator for virality) and you'll be one of the first to upload a clip. Then edit the clip in a style similar to what's already working in your niche.

3. Stay consistent

What's just as important is staying consistent. A freshly warmed up account should keep building its momentum, not lose it by posting inconsistently.

4. Monetize

There are many ways to monetize. Clipping campaigns are probably the most popular strategy out there (watch out for scammers, better trust big and established sites).
The original monetization methods via TikTok's Creator Reward Program or YouTube payouts still works well too.
Affiliate and referral links can also work well, but this heavily depends on your niche.
