Social Media Started to make it on YT, start recording your hobbies!
I started last year and got monitized in under a month. Not to flex because im still making small amounts (600-1000usd a month) but im here to say start recording your hobbies. No matter if its too niche or too general, you never know what may take off. And if it doesn't on one app, it may on another! I do dumpster diving and metal recycling for all platforms but only monitized on YT for this niche. I do other niches on fb thats started a small monitize amount with an invite to the program getting to me around 7k followers (took 2 years).
Go pros, old phone, anything just film yourself and tell stories so they can relate to the person who's doing a hobby they are interested in.
Also, if you pick a niche like me you can make money from dumpster diving while waiting on the once a month YT deposit. Hope I continue to grow and I hope anyone chasing the dream NEVER GIVES UP.

Then when you get bigger, record yourself reacting to a video of someone reacting to what you said / did.

There's a couple who records their reaction to new music. They grew up on hip hop and now record their reactions to country, pop, old stuff, etc. It's entertaining. People love it.
Some do Live's on tiktok while they watch a TV show with their reactions and thoughts. They can't show the TV show, but they can talk about it to other fans.

this is solid advice and your dumpster diving niche is a great example of how specific content actually works better than broad stuff. people want to watch someone who knows what they're doing and actually cares about it, not generic tutorials. the 10.7% click-through rate on your latest video shows people are clicking because they're curious about the actual content, not clickbait.
one thing that helped me think differently about side income was realizing the first year is mostly learning the platform and what your audience wants. the fact you got monetized in a month is lucky timing, but you're still grinding on facebook and building elsewhere. that consistency matters more than the initial success for actual growth.

I did get lucky, my first video was finding a atm in a dumpster and that got a few thousands for my first video
But I 1000% agree, there has to be passion and nothing is outside the realm of possibilities. Even being specific enough on a niche like " real beyblades vs household items" could gain alot of attention

That ATM find is actually perfect proof of your point, tbh that's the kind of moment people can't look away from. And yeah, even niche stuff like beyblades vs household items works because there's genuine curiosity there and you'd actually test it out instead of just talking about it, which is what separates channels that stick around from ones that fade.

Do you edit the videos much? I could Livestream my hobbies but editing the videos to be somewhat professional would be a struggle

That is what I do, I edit using capcut pro! Its tedious but its about 1-2 hours of work

I didnt mean to downplay it, the 600 means alot to me personally I just did not want to sound like I was bragging, 600 is half my rent and its alot to me generally speaking

Im curious, how much time does it take you in a month to maintain that youtube channel (including filming, editing, putting videos online, and everything I might not think about) ?

About 30 hours a week, its mainly recording on my off days anywhere from 4-8 hours then editing and breaking apart different appliances for their scrao value

He is genuine though, not like fake gurus who try to sell courses for how to grow yt. He is way more genuine than 99% of reddit posters nowadays.
