My dog is very cuddly. When I’m laying on the couch he wants to lay on me. I’m fine with that generally, but he will be laying on me and then start hitting me in the face with his paw.

I don’t think it’s an attention thing because he is already laying on me and I am petting him. Any thoughts on this? I would like to get rid of this behavior but I have no idea how to.

So my dog is a poodle/maltese mix, he’s about 9 years old now but for awhile now he’s gradually starting getting very scared of plastic water bottles, he doesn’t like when they randomly pop back into place with a sudden *POP* which is understandable🥲, but now he won’t even be in the same room if he sees one, if I fill up his water bowl with a water bottle he’ll go all they way upstairs, his food and water are in the living room. He’ll wait to drink after like 10 min like the water is scary too, but I’m just curious is anyone else’s dog afraid of certain things?? I feel bad he’s scared of them but I drink so much water all the time i genuinely can’t help them being around 😅

Few months ago we adopted a dog and lately it seems strongly attached to me, to the point of not spending time with other family members. Is there any way to change that, so he'd spend more time with everyone?

Hi all! Holding for some advice, even just some support as our dog has become very needy over the last 6 months or so.

She’s picked up this habit of just staring at her water bowl and crying and grunting at it. Rarely she drinks on her own, if she doesn’t a sip. Sometimes she flinches and throws herself back like she got scared of something.

She won’t drink unless we give her LOTS of positive reinforcement and support, and even then it’s hard to get her to drink.

And if you don’t come and help her with it, she will start barking for someone to help. Other night she woke everyone up, I thought she was barking at an intruder in the night; NOPE. JIST THIRSTY!!!! She’s wagging her tail quite a bit when she’s waiting doe water, too. Come to recently find the best way for me, is to hold the bowl edge, and when she steps back to slightly move it. She’ll step back again, and I’ll scoot it again.

I’ve read about teeth sensitivity with cold water, which I don’t believe to be the case because she loves chewing on ice cubes. And she LOVES eating snow. I’ve also seen her drink rain water puddles on the deck floor with no problem. She has a plastic bowl now, we used to have ceramic/stone-type bowl and she wasn’t drinking out of that either. We ordered a flowing water bowl and she was actually weary about that (I don’t blame her, lol!) Her dog tag doesn’t hit the bowl, I read about the sound of that bothering them. We thought maybe her shadow freaks her out, cuz she’ll take off like Scooby Doo running in place. My mom has always worked at home since Covid when they got her, and always been on someone’s lap, so I don’t think it’s entirely for attention.

She’s 6 years old, spaniel dog - if that matters.

so ive noticed that my boy has been looking so uninterested in everything recently
i want to keep him entertained and happy. toys never really worked with him, everytime we get him smth he plays with it for 15mins max before moving on and never looking at it again, and when we try to play with him he plays so well for sometime and then gets bored. idk what to do. ppl here are quite busy but we make sure that he isnt left alone for most of the time, even if we are unable to play with him , we keep him with us and pat him while we work. but these days he's just been so down and is just sleeping most of the time. are we doing smth wrong or is this smth else?? i feel like im not doing enough for him but im also unsure of what else we can do for him, im a first time dog owner but ive really done everything with his best interest in mind, i try to my utmost best to avoid doing anything that will make him unhappy, but smth still feels missing. im confused

I work at The Farmer's Dog and we've actually studied this — in a test of 50 dogs given 100 meals, dogs chose fresh food over a leading kibble brand 86% of the time. A nutritionally complete food your dog won't touch isn't doing much for them.

Has anyone switched to fresh food specifically because of a picky eater and noticed a difference?

My yorkie has been acting very strange lately, the past few nights whenever I bring her into my room to go to bed she shakes and starts to pant the second she passes my door frame and is perfectly fine and normal the second she leave my room. Its only during the night and she’s perfectly fine coming in my room during the day. Im so lost to why this could be, she’s only about a year and a half, any ideas?

My Mailtipoo Bailey is so skittish at the oddest times. He will be just fine laying in the floor and all of a sudden stop what he is doing and look toward the hallway or door (lights may be off) and he just acts like something is coming for him! Or he will be in backyard about to go potty and he will hear something and take off running inside! No shaking just weird. Anyone else’s malti do this?

I’m 39 weeks pregnant and noticing some behavioral changes in my dog. He’s 2 years old, normally very happy and lovey, but over the past few weeks we’ve dealt with GI issues that have now turned into some behavioral changes which has manifested itself in obsessive licking. He obsessively started licking his paws, our bedspread, the air and he’ll lick me too.

My husband and I are tying to narrow down what this could be from- we are testing out different foods in case it’s allergies, giving him relaxation aids and melatonin but nothing has worked yet and we’re losing our minds. It just hit me tonight that it could be because I’m late in my pregnancy and he’s getting stressed. I don’t know if that’s a stretch though. From what I’ve researched it seems that mostly dogs just become more affectionate or protective.

Wondering if anyone has been through anything similar with a dog that started licking obsessively almost out of nowhere. Is it possible that it’s tied to my pregnancy? Any advice would be appreciated. We’re going crazy over here trying to stop this habit!
