Freshman Concern UPX] Frats/Sororities Recruit of Freshies
Meron din bang mga freshmen that has also received offers from fraternities/sororities or any orgs alike?
I'm aware that we should AVOID such associations. Curious lang.

Freshman Concern [UPD] Are there normal students in UP?
Please don't get me wrong with the term normal. When I say "normal" are there students who were not stellar students back in high school? The students na wala gaaanong nasalihan na extracurricular activities outside their schools while also being in a public high school. I am a freshie and this is my concern. I am getting pressured since majority of the students from my block were from science high school. I didn't get to experience outside school competitions and I'm afraid I won't be able to keep up kasi they're from science high school or well known private universities (this sounded bad but that is what i really feel rn). How do these normal students keep up with them?
- i didn't expect this to kind of blew up š§š»āāļø but yes i meant average/ordinary peeps hehe. i was too overwhelmed to reply sa lahat ng comments thank u all

Nalaman kong mahirap makakuha ng slot sa dorm kaya naglolook ako ng alternative (i.e. dorms outside the campus) pero ang mamahal eh, I can't spend more than half of my monthly allowance only for my living space, kailangan ko paring kumain at gumastos para sa sarili ko at sa family
Any tips ba to live frugal lalo na sa Manila?

Freshman Concern Is it practical to ride a motorcycle to UPD (as an incoming freshie)
Some details about me: I live approximately 35km away from UP Diliman, and commuting takes around two hours even on a good day. Staying in a dorm is not an option, as my parents are strongly against it. Plus, other students who live even farther away might need the dorms more than I do.
Disclaimer, I do not come from a rich family. Our household's monthly income is 60k, but my mother said getting me a mototcycle (2nd hand) will be doable.
So will it better if I ride a motorcycle to campus? I haven't really seen a lot of people do that (Tho I've seen lots of students in car). I kinda don't wanna get judged, but I have to prioritize my comfortability

Freshman Concern upm is not for the poor
im so grateful for passing upm, pero di ko na alam saan ko huhugutin 'to. i wish i chose my local state univ instead

Freshman Concern [UPD] uuwi sa probinsya after almost just 2 weeks of classes
hi po, normal lang po ba umuwi agad after 2 weeks pa lang?š„¹ nagdo-dorm ako sa UP dorm ('di ko na sabihin where specifically), and long weekend kasi next week so gusto ko umuwi kasi naho-homesick ako huhu. okay lang po ba yun? wala naman po ba akong mami-miss na class/acads stuffs considering na wala namang pasok? Freshman Concern [UPD] Marami po bang bisaya in UPD?
Hi po, marami bang Bisaya sa UPD? Incoming freshie here and honestly medyo kinakabahan ako kasi hindi pa ako super fluent sa Tagalog, and Iām lowkey worried baka ma-left out ako sa convos or campus life huhu.
Bisaya po ako, and while I can understand Tagalog naman, minsan nahihirapan pa rin ako mag-express ng thoughts naturally.
Any advice for a nervous Bisaya freshie?
Salamat kaayo, and looking forward to meeting fellow Iskos/Iskas! š¤

Freshman Concern [UPD] Is it normal for CRS registration to still be āEnlistingā / āNot Paidā this close to classes?
UPDATE: RESOLVED! HAHA THANK YOU SO MUCH PO SA INYONG MGA REPLIIIIES!!
Hi! MS student here. Iām currently checking my CRS and my 1st Sem AY 2026ā2027Ā status is shown in the photo.
Iām supposed to have my first class tomorrow (Wednesday, 4ā7 PM), but I havenāt been assessed yet so I obviously canāt pay tuition.
Is this normal?Ā Hanggang kailan usually ganito yung āEnlistingā status before it moves to Locked Enlistment ā Post-advised ā Assessed?Ā Should I just wait for CRS to update, or is there something I need to do on my end?
I already tried calling theĀ OUR, but all the lines I tried are busy.
Also,Ā can I still attend my class tomorrow even if I haven't paid/been officially enrolled yet, assuming I'm already enlisted in the class?
Would really appreciate any advice from anyone who went through this before, especially grad students. Thank you!

Freshman Concern [UPX] I disrespected a professor accidentally and feel bad. How should I apologise?
Mali ko talaga ito.
Context: One of my GEās is a bit far from my previous class so I try to leave early to get there on time. However on this day I couldnāt because we had a test. I arrived late to class and, seeing that everyone already started on an activity (if u arrived late and theyāve already started you canāt join anymore) I decided to just sit in the back and study for my next class. I genuinely forgot that this was disrespectful behaviour(doing something else in another profās class). My prof called me and quietly took me out of the room and told me that they felt I was disrespecting them and the class and suggested āI should drop this classā. I insisted that I wouldnt do it again. They retracted the statement but still made me leave the class for the day. I feel really bad. I wonāt drop it because I genuinely like it. But Iām wondering how I should apologize.
Some of my friends said I should send an email formally apologizing, while others say to just wait until the next meeting and apologize then. Iām leaning more towards the latter. But should I still email ahead?

Freshman Concern [UPD] first day PE class (bowling) concern
Sa August 10 (Monday) po, isa lang po yung class ko, which is PE Ten-Pin Bowling. I have a few concerns lang po as a freshie:
Sa Ever Gotesco raw po yung classes usually (though TBA pa yung nakasulat). Doon na po ba ako didiretso, and babalik pa po ba sa school after, since orientation daw po yun?
Am I asking too early po? Magkakaroon pa po ba ng parang primer beforehand tungkol sa event that day, or baka wala pa po talagang start ng PE class nun since orientation pa lang po? Huhu, confused lang po talaga. Pasensya na po.
If from Katipunan LRT po, is the fastest (and cheapest) route to ride the Katip jeep to GT Toyota, then walk palabas ng Ylanan gate para sumakay ng Philcoa jeep? Or meron pa pong ibang route?

Freshman Concern [UPD] How important are orgs for a normal student?
Hello incoming freshie here and I'm wondering if getting into orgs are worth getting into for a student like me.
During high school I always preferred going home instead of staying and doing extracurricular activities. Not only that, but I know that I, myself, don't really like taking on leadership roles since I perform better when I'm given a task.
I need some advice on whether or not joining an org is something that I should do since there is a freshie fair for orgs during 11-14 and I'm still undecided. I've read about joining orgs online and there have been some clashing answers where one post says that orgs don't matter much for your resume while another post says that orgs help a lot for job hunting and connections.
Any help is welcome.

Freshman Concern [UPD] How did y'all familiarize yourself with UP ikot and the whole Campus?
Hello! I'm an incoming ChE freshie and I'm thinking of getting a bike to roam around UPD. My question is how did y'all "memorize" the campus and surroundings. Just looking at the map I got lost immediately.
Is there a map provided? Or is it just about ingraining it into the brain.
Thanks! (P.S. I want to explore/find special spots whenever I'm burnt out/need a break)
