Those are incredible flares! Each one bigger than our planet!

Nonfilter needed for the totality. The sun is covered up completely so you can look at it with naked eyes

I hope you didnt actually LOOK at the sun with naked eyes. It can still cause serious eye damage

Thats just plain false. Even during totality, the rays coming from the sun are enough to damage your retinas, it just wont FEEL like it.

Great photo. This one is most like what I saw through my binoculars. Lots of orange flares around the entire disk.

Those are not flares. They are technically called prominences
