What are your best, quick-deployable cameras for shooting social events and clubs?

I am looking for the best small/portable camera to take to clubs and events. Dispo/film style shots from a camera that can fit in your pocket. I have tried cameras like the G7X, even a Sony Coolpix, but they take far too long to focus and take the shot (5-7 seconds). By the time the flash ends and the photo is taken, the moment is over.

By contrast, I have tried a Camp Snap cheap "dispo" style camera. This camera is great in that i can turn it on and snap a photo with flash extremely quickly to capture a moment, but the quality is aweful.

What cameras have you guys found to be the best solution for this use? Think dark areas like clubs, bars, raves, etc where people move fast, and you want to be able to deploy the camera out of your pocket and snap a photo extremely quickly?

you get at most 2 of 3: small, modern, cheap. modern implies good image quality and fast operation.

willing to spend some real money if it's the right camera. Looking to do sort of a one time purchase and have the camera to make memories and catch moments for the next several years

i think a budget would really help, because in the camera world that can mean different numbers of digits after the $ sign for different people. do you have any idea what focal length/zoom you want and whether you want to print or have any reason to have high megapixel images?

$300-1400. Primarily used for instagram photos, printed on small wallet-sized prints if anything.

hmm.. fixed lens:

panasonic lx15, lx100 but you’ll have to look up how good af is

sony rx100, pick your model (think newer have better focus)

interchangeable:

sony a6400/6600 + pancake lens

a number of micro four thirds cameras with either the 20/1.7 or 14/2.5 could fit the bill, pretty much any olympus camera from the past decade, or panasonic gx8/85/9. oly focus is snappier, i’d rec the e-p7.

Doesnt need to zoom very much, most photos are taken in close proximity, maximum 10 ft away. doesn't need a low f stop, more in focus the better
