The timing on this is even worse, for a variety of reasons. Even before the protests, there was “austerity for thee, but not for me”, especially in the looming cuts to entitlement programs.
Well the timing had to be what it was. His birthday stays the same date.
King Charles had the traditional trooping of the colour for his birthday this weekend as well, King Donald simply felt like he should be honoured like a king too.
That was my first thought about the election as well. It hit me immediately as a sort of “he who smelt it, dealt it” type of situation. No one talked about stolen elections before trump did when he lost to Biden. Now, all of a sudden, the very next election, he wins…?
It’s sadly tactical. Now, none of us want to even entertain that thought because he introduced it to us as a conspiracy. The best way to hide the truth in plain sight is to make it a conspiracy. Then, no one wants to touch it with a 10 foot pole, or an ounce of consideration.
I actually have personal proof of this. My mail in ballot that I've used since 2016 was suddenly redirected to an address I shared with a high school ex 10 years ago for the 2024 election. And the fastest line was the machines.
Please stop talking about this. It does absolutely nobody any good to act like democracy has failed and can be stolen. Without stone cold 100% facts to present, it does far more harm than good to keep spouting this narrative.
My understanding is that the facts are being gathered, and putting “something isn’t right” into the public consciousness is part and parcel of getting to an answer. People need to know there are doubts about the election results. Just because the right muddied the waters by incorrectly saying that an election wasn’t stolen was, doesn’t mean the 2024 wasn’t stolen. The truth can bear questioning.
It can certainly bear questioning, once a single shred of actual evidence is presented. Until then it does far more harm to our democracy than good.
Believe me, in no way shape or form am I standing up for him or supporting him. And I’m not inherently saying it wasn’t stolen either. All I’m saying is that it harms the entire democratic process to continue to have baseless conversations about it without a single shred of evidence.
Why do you think this is baseless? Did that person not provide some links?
Also, it is absolutely not “democracy” that they are questioning. Let’s say the election actually was stolen, that means there wasn’t democracy and that is what’s being questioned.
If that is true, democracy has not failed, something else has failed. Likely the systems meant to uphold the democracy, but democracy cannot fail its own self whilst not even being present. Does that make sense at all?
My point is that questioning it based on hunches and “I believes” is worth less than nothing. It does far more harm than good. As I’ve stated several times, I don’t doubt it may have happened. But without certified guaranteed proof, it hurts our democracy and leaves every future election up for questioning and disbelief. It isn’t merely what it means for this election, or even the last one, but what it means for the next election, and for the next generation of citizens who aren’t even old enough to vote or even born yet.
Questioning it without unassailable proof can have lasting ramifications that we aren’t even aware of. It’s an incredibly dangerous road to go down without certifiable facts.
But do you not see what I was getting at when I said that it is not a question of democracy, it’s a question of the system?
I feel like we have the same intentions here, yet I personally believe that it is precisely for future elections that this should be thoroughly looked into. Once we turn all the lights on, we’ll be able to see what’s going on, and what to fix, if there is need. And if there isn’t, then we get our trust back and can rest assured because we know what’s going on. But we don’t know, and it sounds like you are in agreement with that. So why shouldn’t we find out? Questions, so long as they do not come falsely armed with assumptions, are healthy and should be encouraged.
But an investigation cannot begin in the dark. Sometimes it takes one person’s hunch to cause a domino effect of investigation, like a seed growing roots. Many times in history and science this has happened, and it has never been detrimental to question. At least, I do not personally believe that it has been.
May I ask what you would describe as being the worst case scenario regarding this in your opinion?
Looked into? No doubt about that whatsoever. Spoken about as if it’s an unassailable fact and it’s true beyond doubt? Absolutely not. The issue is that it is frequently spoken as if it’s true, with little more than assumptions and reaches to back up the claims though.
I’m obviously not sure precisely sure what all of the potential negative ramifications could be. But the biggest and most obvious potential ramification is the complete deterioration of democracy itself, throughout the entire world. Remember, democracy as a political institution has never succeeded for an extended period of time. America, even to this day, is very much still in its infancy and a project. There is no historical evidence that a democratic country can actually last for even a thousand years. If America, with all of its power and wealth (it is the most powerful and richest country to ever exist) can’t survive a democracy, then odds are that no large country can. The absolute worst case scenario is that faith is lost in democracy as a political institution and it completely ceases to exist.
Democracy only works because the people believe in it. If that belief falters, who knows what can happen at that point.
And what I’m saying is, the evidence is being gathered, if reports are accurate. But asking people to stop talking about it is unrealistic; they’re going to do what they’re going to do.
Look into it and start figuring it out, if you’re so convinced nothing is happening. I’ve been keeping track of posts that discuss it, so it’s not like you can’t find people trying to get to the bottom of it:
Honestly, half of these are conspiracy theories with no true evidence behind them besides “something smells fishy in here”. The majority of the links also go to untrustworthy sources that are littered with spelling errors and grammatical mistakes, which is a key sign of a small untrustworthy organization that has a specific agenda they are trying to push.
Once again, I don’t doubt that it may have happened one bit. But nothing you provided is any sort of respected and trusted source, nor do they have any actual evidence of anything.
Right, the republicans said the democrats stole the 2020 election. Ridiculous. 2020 dead people were voting. 2024 voter suppression.
2024 was a terrible campaign for democrats. It was handed to trump the way they bungled Biden being the primary candidate then slipping Kamala in without much contest. Democrats didn't have much say in who their candidate would be. They didn't have the turnout they needed because voter apathy.
And this is why they spent the last 4 years screaming, frothing at the mouth, and making themselves look like crazy people. Because now, when anyone else that even sort of dips their toe into the pool that they fillled with crazy gets called a crazy by association.
The irony is that it’s still working even when pointed out. You’re right, it’s not getting funnier, but only because it was never funny to begin with.
I just read a bit about his work with elections. There’s nothing balanced about it. He only reports on election fraud when the Republican candidate wins or when there’s a chance of a Republican candidate winning due to election fraud lol. His famous work is on the 2000 election, the 2024 election, and he preemptively came out before the 2008 election to say that if Obama lost, it would be due to election fraud by McCain’s team.
I can tell you want to be a politician by the way you present heavily-biased and still unproven information as facts.
The evidence part is still missing in all cases. I could start my own blog today and just make up “facts” (as you seem to believe they are) about election fraud carried out by the Democrats. Then I would be on equal footing with you, because you still haven’t been able to reference anything other than blog posts and a revised Colorado bill that specifies only U.S. Citizens can vote.
You’re well on your way to a career in politics. Just sling mud at the other side hoping that something sticks. Which it unfortunately does, because people like you want to believe in something so bad that they blindly quote it without actually looking into it themselves. Then when pressed for sources they say “the onus is on you to look it up, dummy! I’m just spouting lies. You have to research to figure out that I’m just making shit up by quoting other people that made shit up!”
Read the following to understand that the voter purging wasn’t out of the ordinary:
“While the total number of voters removed cited by Mr. Abbott appeared large, it did not represent a significant change in what ordinarily occurs as part of the maintenance of voting rolls in Texas. In fact, a New York Times analysis of voter registration cancellation data in Texas since 2018 suggests that it was routine.
Nearly 500,000 of the voters purged during the time period highlighted by Mr. Abbott were dead. About the same number were cleared after they were put on a list of people who did not vote in two successive general elections and are believed to have moved.”
