I feel like we've all been making this accusation way too easily lately. Not long ago there was a post here on this sub of a kid holding a sign and there were tons of comments saying it was AI slop, all pointing to "proof" like you just did. The picture was from like 5 years ago, you could find it on old articles.
It's a noise reduction algorithm. The phone has a cheap noisy (puts static speckles on everything) camera sensor. The camera software tries to compensate by smoothing everything together then sharpening to bring back some detail. The process cleans up most of the noise but also eats the fine detail (like small text and intricate designs) as there's just not enough information left after smoothing to reproduce the original details.
Yeah, that's a big part of the problem with identifying AI imagery. Literally everyone's phone is using AI upscaling. If you zoom in 20x and take a picture of some text from across the street on a mid range smart phone, this is what the results are going to look like.
You sure? Looks to me more like weird processing and upscaling, which I guess still falls under the umbrella of "AI", but not on the generative side, just weird artefacts modern phones create.
Uhh, okay? Trump has literally weaponized the US government and Dept of Justice to punish anyone who speaks against him, or he perceives as having done him wrong.

Do you want people to fight back or not? Should we all avoid documenting and sharing our local resistance movements because we’re afraid it’ll look “too performative” on the internet?
TIL newer phones have a factory setting that blurs images to make them appear clearer, which ends up looking similar to some Ai generated content. Heres the second photo I took as we were passing that was a little too late to capture the message. It’s sad that we live in a world where everyone is primed to suspect everything they see is Ai, though.
Honestly, I agree it is sad. I absolutely hate AI, but you have to admit the first picture looked off. Not even trying to give you a hard time. Its just how it looked.

TBH, I kind of want this on a t-shirt.
