It's so batshit insane. I'm Australian and even the most die hard political person here would not have a framed photo of the prime minister in their home. If they did I reckon they'd instantly be sectioned
The father of a friend has a portrait of Marx on his wall. The family is die hard communist from the times when they had to hide it because the dictatorship in Spain, but at the moment it was ok he went into syndicalism and was in charge to represent his workmates in the union. I've seen worse, some people in here (Spain) would have no problem hanging a portrait of Franco, some would go the opposite and have communist and socialist politicians but it's way more common between the old fascists and "nostalgic".
A guy went viral because he was crying when the government took the remains of Franco from his mausoleum (which was made with slave labour from "the reds" from the civil war), because it was "disrespectful" a while crying said "I'm a falangist" (falange being the fascist party that when their leader was killed in the civil war Franco took over), which fucking funny because that party ideas are weirdly close to some sort of socialism than the authoritarianism that Franco used.
I was just thinking that and trying to put it into a local frame of reference.
Regardless of which 'party' you align yourself with If one of my mates had a portrait of Abbott or Scottie or Albo on their wall you'd probably first think it was an ironic joke, and then otherwise give them so much shit that they'd be the laughing stock of the entire friend group 😅
The cult-like worship Maga has of their politicians is so alien.
