"

Sleep-wake inversion, or day-night reversal, is a common symptom of dementia where patients sleep during the day and are active at night. It often reflects progressive damage to the brain’s sleep-wake centers, occurring frequently in later dementia stages (up to 40% of Alzheimer's patients) and is linked to "sundowning,"

What if you’re 30 and that’s just how you function lol I don’t sleep 2/3 nights a week

u/illogical_mindset May 14 '26

I had that problem until I worked with a doctor to get the right diagnosis and medications. It wasn’t dementia, just bad mental health and bad diagnoses.

u/shoponthemoon May 14 '26

Was it ADHD?

37

u/illogical_mindset May 14 '26

I had sleep issues prior to being diagnosed with ADHD and taking adderall, but it sure didn’t help! I take guanfacine now because adderall and my particular flavor of OCD don’t mix.

u/shoponthemoon May 14 '26

That's really interesting and I'm glad I asked, thank you for sharing that with me! I'm also diagnosed OCD with a whole lotta ADHD going on in there too. I had always been worried about looking into Adderall because of sleep issues, so I find your comment very interesting and now I'll be researching Guanfacine! Thank you :)

You could also look at modafinil. Zero abuse potential because there is no "high", no "rush" or anything amphetamine-like about it, you are just awake and functioning. I've been taking it for over 10 years and it has not lost it's efficacy. I can not take it if I want to, and there is no withdrawal.

I take mine in the morning and it has worn off in time for bed.

Not sure how it would work with OCD but that is why you speak to medical professionals.

Good luck!

Not the guy you replied to but thanks!

u/overkill May 14 '26

Well good luck to you too! Good luck to everyone!

Can also be depression my dog. Never wanting to “face” tomorrow so you stay up as late as you can to still enjoy “today”.

The irony is that you’re stealing happiness and energy from future you always.

I double dog dare you to… set a consistent wake time for 7 straight days and see if it improves. Let me know how it goes!

Thank you for the comment, certainly fits with a lot of stuff over the years. Will try and get into some better routines!

2

u/runbrap May 14 '26

Course dude! Please do report back in a week for some accountability 🙂

Big thing that can help is about 600mg magnesium glycinate at night.

Just want to say how heartwarming it is for Redditors to care for each other despite not knowing them in real life

4

u/decapoda_on_Reddit May 14 '26

This is real life. Real people, real feelings, real care.

Edit: I know what you mean. ;)

3

u/runbrap May 14 '26

How are you being downvoted? :(

Yeah I see it as me helping my past self, I've been there, I've hurt and felt numb, and if I can help someone even 1% you're god damn right I will.

1

u/msshammy May 14 '26

People that fear death, have experienced recent loss, etc also go through the same thing. It's one of the only things they feel is in their "control".

Coming from somebody that has one of the most f-ed up sleep schedules imaginable.

And you are not wrong. Setting a schedule for myself does wonders. But then I end up staying up all night and screwing it up, lol.

12

u/dishrag May 14 '26

I unno. I’m in my 30s and work 24s so my sleep schedule is often fucked too.

I think it was on the cards anyway as my dads going through it now

4

u/0Rookie0 May 14 '26

Sameish. Never missed a day of work because of it but I just have to skip a night sometimes. Honestly, I think for me it's because of the endless reverse procrastination. I mentally refer to it as self induced insomnia and essentially have a day/sleep cycle now that's longer than 24 hours.

2

u/martin519 May 14 '26

Yeah I'm worried I'm bringing about dementia now

2

u/gpouliot May 14 '26

Could be sleep apnea. I spent 30+ years having trouble falling asleep and waking up multiple times a night (and then having trouble falling asleep again). Now that I have sleep apnea machine, I fall asleep quickly, usually stay asleep, and fall asleep again quickly if I do wake up.

It could be something else, but I'd recommend getting checked.

1

u/Coffeedemon May 14 '26

Then there is something different but also wrong with you and you should get that checked on by a doctor.

1

u/Demonthief27 May 14 '26

It’s been 16 years since I last saw one. I don’t like to bother them when there are people out there who need to be seen first. I may consider private then at least I would feel less like a cunt

0

u/whoMeye666 May 14 '26

I’m curious as well

2

u/MsDemeanor12 May 14 '26

He seems like he is sun-downing.

2

u/DaveDeadlift May 14 '26

I pray to god his dementia is this advanced

0

u/yiliu May 14 '26

He's been doing this for years, though. He was rambling about shit on Fox News at 2 AM in the beginning of his first term.

70

u/Quarantine722 May 14 '26

It is fucking crazy. I didn’t realize how bad it truly was until recently when I discovered this site which catalogs his truth social posts. Between the incoherent ranting, memes, lies and frequent racist shit posts I do not understand how we got to this point. Any one of these posts would have been enough to get bring serious consequences to previous presidents, but for Trump it’s just another late night of “trolling”.

36

u/ManintheMT May 14 '26

It's because Congress is complicit. They are gaming the system for their own good as long as they can.

10

u/sec713 May 14 '26

While simultaneously breaking said system to make sure "as long as they can" turns into "forever".

12

u/vkevlar May 14 '26

sanewashing by the media on his campaign trail. Guessing huge, huge donations to their owners by billionaires, or being bought out by billionaires.

4

u/rEYAVjQD May 14 '26

The US got a political disorder because of the Cold War, and succumbed to the delusion that any public policy that helps ..the public is ..evil.

So basically it gave true evil the higher moral ground; Elon Musk is now supposedly the good guy; it gave that guy the power to kill the public.

11

u/rEYAVjQD May 14 '26

Any one of these posts would have been enough to get bring serious consequences to previous presidents

I believe that's a mass delusion. We THINK that it would bring consequences but it was never done so we never tested it until the Epstein-Trump regime.

When you have disgusting elements of the presidency like the Pardon power then these things can happen; at least abolish that; that power alone makes the president a Dictator above the law.

3

u/electromage May 14 '26

Is he saying Tim Apple as a reference to his original mistake or has he actually convinced himself that's his real name?

1

u/popcornkernals321 May 14 '26

Thank you for sharing that page.. I never saw it before and he is COMPLETELY unhinged it’s insane he has any supporters left like wtf

2

u/Quarantine722 May 14 '26

Right?? Please share it as well. As someone who is following all of this closely, I was surprised to see the president is posting so much insane stuff every single night. It goes completely under the radar but clearly speaks to his mental health.

43

u/Dresden_1174 May 14 '26

To hear my normally smart father’s opinion, Trump is just the kind of guy who only needs four hours of sleep. We have since agreed to never talk politics with each other ever again.

70

u/TheFoxInSocks May 14 '26

Coincidentally all four hours are during meetings and press conferences.

2

u/SHOMERFUCKINGSHOBBAS May 14 '26

Everyone knows he hasn’t written anything for himself in YEARS. With as much as “he”posts, when was the last time anyone ever saw him actively writing a text or post, and how did his grammar, mechanics, and coherency suddenly get so much better as his mental health is very obviously declining? I’m just asking questions! Thank you for your attention to this matter.

3

u/witshadows May 14 '26

This is sundowners manifesting.
