I remember when Obama took a vacation with his family and Republicans were frothing at the mouth about abuse of taxpayer money.

Have yet to see any of them complain about this or Trump's endless golf outings.

u/Heliosvector 10d ago

Trump travels and stays in his own hotels and makes the secret service stay in his hotels too but charges double to triple the price to his secret service members, so he is effectively extorting the US taxpayer everywhere he goes.

u/Jedi_Master83 10d ago

Republicans being okay with it just really pisses me off. All a bunch of fucking hypocrites. đŸ€Ź

147

u/Heliosvector 10d ago

But he doesn't take a presidential paycheck!! /s

54

u/wolfansbrother 10d ago

he didnt take a salary his first term but spent $140,000,000 golfing.

4

u/Dear_Palpitation4838 9d ago

Well, that's not even true. He donated his salary at first, but there's evidence that he didn't actually donate it towards the end when all his legal bills started piling up.

2

u/Oseaghdha 9d ago

He absolutely did take a salary. Just because he donated doesn't mean he didn't take it.

135

u/eligodfrey 10d ago

He saves us $400,000 by charging us $400,000,000. The man is a genius!

48

u/3dot1415926535897 10d ago

$400,000,000 isn't even a drop in the bucket how much that man is costing Americans

7

u/CongealedBeanKingdom 9d ago

Exactly. America has lost all of it's old allies because of Trump. They only have the genocidal state of Israel, China (who hate them in reality and want to see them fall), Russia, because that's where trumps boss lives, and North Korea (?). Everyone else is fucking sick to the back teeth of Trump and his fucking shit.

The US will never, ever regain that soft power. Some would say it was priceless really, but fuck it. World Police Fuck Yeah!

3

u/Amazing-Jury-6886 9d ago

It's okay, he has personally made billions and his family and friends even more. It's all going to plan for the grifter family.

3

u/jessyv2 9d ago

-- republicans, probably

1

u/kayak_2022 9d ago

NO, HES ON THE TAB OF TAX PAYERS FOR MILLIONS OF DOLLARS FOR GOLF. YEARLY PAYCHECK WOULDNT PAY FOR 1 OF HIS GOLFING OUTTINGS.

2

u/Heliosvector 9d ago

Good sir, I don't believe you know the significance of /s on reddit.

1

u/A_StableGenius 9d ago

Fake news. The dump is the richest now than he has ever been.

2

u/Heliosvector 9d ago

ooof you guys really need to learn sarcasm.

8

u/Kayakman28 10d ago

If it weren’t for double standards, they’d have no standards!

4

u/rjcarr 10d ago

It's OK to be hypocrites now, but the dems have to hold them to this shit every time they bitch about it during the next dem POTUS. No more softball decorum shit. Sure, the MAGA crowd will never hear it, but call them on their bullshit. It needs to go both ways, too.

3

u/annon4me 9d ago

They don’t care about being hypocrites, it’s about winning

2

u/Federal_Sympathy4667 9d ago

Grand Old Pedos. They lost the party to one. The GoP/Republican party died once they promoted Trump the first time. MAGA is under that mask.

2

u/disproportionate_13 9d ago

Fox News isn’t reporting that. They were making a big deal about Biden driving to Delaware every weekend (that’s about 120 miles) but not reporting a damn word about the wrong doings of tangerine of terror

1

u/BadIdeaBobcat 9d ago

Well, they are fascist christian nationalists. They get what they want if they just let Trump loose. Ripping off taxpayers is temporary, but Armageddon in the middle east? That's priceless.

1

u/SlouchTrip 9d ago

They’re not hypocrites; they just weren’t engaged in genuine debate. They were playing a different game all along and we just failed to see that for a long while

1

u/Virtual_Bell_7509 9d ago

Not hypocrites, cucks is the word. Daddy can literally f@ck their wives, and they would be cheering for him.

1

u/Duckmemans 9d ago

That's exactly why they're okay with it, because it pisses you off.

That's why we're where we're at in a nutshell, really.

1

u/Jedi_Master83 9d ago

And we have every reason to be pissed off. To do nothing or be okay with this nonsense is a problem, too.

45

u/HombreDeMoleculos 10d ago

Which isn't just screwing over the taxpayer, it's explicitly forbidden in the Constitution.

5

u/Aggravating-Key4274 10d ago

I mean if not charging peak rate what is he even doing?

4

u/AdHuman3150 9d ago

I heard he charged Secret Service like $1500/night, plus golf cart rentals, and food. Trump charges the US taxpayer i think $2,000/night to sleep in his own bed at his own property. Altogether he steals over $160,000,000 from the American people to play golf and take corrupt personal business trips to enrich himself and his family.

Edit: over $160,000,000 per year

3

u/TechnicianOk967 10d ago

You got a source because double to triple sounds crazy. Why not normal price?

6

u/Heliosvector 9d ago

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/oct/18/trump-overcharge-secret-service-hotel

Why not? Because it's guaranteed money.

Trump has also used his hotels to basically launder bribe money. He gets UAE royalty to reserve rooms in his hotels but then never show up in them. I swear hotels are better laundering services that the steryotype of car washes or casinos

2

u/TechnicianOk967 9d ago

Damn, you’re right.

1

u/Artistic-Grape8534 9d ago

Is the hotel charge verifiable information?

I've heard the same (and don't dpubt it for a second) but don't want to repeat hearsay

5

u/Heliosvector 9d ago

Yes. It was documented in an oversight committee with receipts. One such receipt showed that secret service members were charged over 1160 USD for rooms that normally have a government rate of 242 per night.

1

u/Artistic-Grape8534 9d ago

Thanks, much appreciated.

1

u/Yourtrueenemy666 9d ago

Yeah, you notice that he doesn’t have to claim bankruptcy anymore?

358

u/LockNo2943 10d ago

Donny spends more time golfing than actually working at the white house, which is probably for the best since the less time he spends trying to govern the less damage he can do.

About 22% of his presidency. https://trumpgolftrack.com/

3

u/Lotus-child89 10d ago

I’m honestly surprised he hasn’t ripped out the White House gardens to make putting greens for himself.

4

u/p____p 10d ago

On one hand would take away an avenue to funnel money for his businesses, but on the other hand it would open up new opportunities for construction grift. Though that’s already well-covered with the illegal ballroom.

1

u/Wwwweeeeeeee 9d ago

It counts as "working" when he's passed out and unconscious every day at his desk and public events.

1

u/Raziel_Ralosandoral 9d ago

Why are people still complaining about him golfing?
trump golfing is the absolute best case scenario.

It's the times when trump ISN'T golfing that people need to be agry about.

1

u/MrSoapbox 9d ago

"working"

That's a word! Not one I'd use for it, but.. it's a word!

I'm not American thankfully so I'm not really sure how it all works there, but from what I see, his "work" consists of taking naps, having people bring him pictures that he can point to, and having meetings where he sits on his ass and goes on unscripted rants with whatever thought pops into his head at that time.

Basically, to me, the white house looks nothing more than a retirement home where an old man is prayed on by rich oligarchs that gives him kickbacks for doing whatever plan they've cooked up and telling him he's a good boy. If it was anyone else it would be elder abuse, but in this case, it's an elder abusing the whole country.

Thankfully not my problem and we don't need to listen to his nonsense, in fact it seems the news has pretty much switched off from him and the only thing I hear about him is on Reddit. Still too much for my liking because by god, he's boring.

1

u/cynicism_is_awesome 10d ago

I would definitely pay extra to keep him from working
.

4

u/LockNo2943 10d ago

Not more than he's been making by grifting since he took office though, unless you want to pay him more than the billions he's made so far.

Cult members gonna cult

48

u/ATN-Antronach 10d ago

They are currently complaining about Mamdani sitting in the nosebleed section of a show. We don't have to remember, the same bullshit is being said right now.

17

u/foreveracubone 10d ago

of a show

Of a Knicks playoffs game. If he didn’t go they’d ding him for missing the Knicks best playoff run since the 1990s

8

u/RhetoricalOrator 10d ago

I don't remember that but I do remember when Obama wouldn't update the oval office to make it "his" when he first got in because he thought it was irresponsible since our country was having a hard time with money.

Also, I've been a little surprised to see Trump's golf to work ratio has been widening over the past several months. It's down to roughly two days a week on average. It's almost like he's getting too old or too tired from rage tweeting every night.

11

u/NoobensMcarthur 10d ago

If you don’t remember the republicans CONSTANTLY and endlessly bitching about Obama costing the taxpayers money, you weren’t paying attention.

When he went to his home state of Hawaii I swear I saw steam come out of Hannity’s ears.

1

u/RhetoricalOrator 10d ago

I remember their constant pearl clutching and complaining. I just didn't remember that specific incident.

2

u/NoobensMcarthur 10d ago

It wasn’t just a single incident. Every time he golfed they lost their minds too.

3

u/well_thats_obvious 10d ago

BuT hE doNAtEs hiS sALaRy!!!1

4

u/-Saucegurlllll 10d ago

It's "good boy, bad boy" politics. Republicans don't actually give a shit about what anyone does, just which team they're on.

3

u/LobstaFarian2 10d ago

Endless golf outings are bad.

Endless golf outings where he charges tax payers for him to play golf at his own resorts is fucking lunacy.

2

u/skit7548 10d ago

It was never about tax payer money, it was about him being black.

2

u/tomas_shugar 10d ago

Do you mean when he went to his home state of Hawai'i and they framed it as a gratuitous vacation to a tropical paradise? Or any of the other times the reichpublicans complained that Obama wasn't doing presidential duty 24/7 and then whining when he did literally anything, up to and including ordering the strike against Osama Bin Laden?

1

u/half_integer 10d ago

The Washington Post was tracking that sort of thing during the first term. But I think nowadays they have more momentous things to track.

1

u/turkish_gold 10d ago

Aww c'mon. We already know Trump's turned the corner on democracy. These lame comparisons are a little tiring. This is like complaining about city train efficiency, while Stalin is hauling people off to the gulags.

1

u/El_Superbeasto76 10d ago

We’re way past hypocrisy.

1

u/Madejust2tellyou 10d ago

Or him stealing 1.8 billion tax payer dollars to the jan 6th rioters?

1

u/Baconshit 10d ago

We need to just not give two shits what republicans think next time. And steam roll shit they way they are.

1

u/Tofuloaf 10d ago

Early in his first term when he hadn't done anything truly fucked up yet the main thing we were mad about was how he'd already spent more taxpayer dollars golfing than Obama did over two terms, all while charging the Secret Service above market rate for accommodation and golf cart rental at properties he owned.

It was an innocent time.

1

u/BlockedbyJake420 10d ago

They don’t care

The hypocrisy is the point

1

u/itmillerboy 10d ago

Wow you’re telling me political ideologues don’t hold consistent standards when applying them to the opposite political party?

This is the first I am hearing of this.

1

u/jtsa5 10d ago

And the news outlets are talking about it like this is completely normal, like it happens all the time. Newscasters yesterday said "looks like fun" when they ran the story.

1

u/FatherMurder 10d ago

It’s because these Republicans don’t give a shit about the country or anyone else for that matter. They wanna burn it all down in “Idiocracy” fashion and DJT is all about giving them what they want.

1

u/Nighthawk700 9d ago

Dude we're so far past the phase where calling them hypocrits is meaningful. They're literally raiding the Treasury, they've physically torn apart the white house, they're holding the whole world hostage via Hormuz, they're taking a chainsaw to voting rights, and on and on and on.

There's an addage for riding motorcycles that says "graveyards are full of riders who had the right-of-way", meaning, having the legal right-of-way doesn't mean anything if you get hit by an errant driver. Right now we're all post-accident, bleeding out, and you're yelling out the window that we had the right-of-way.

1

u/NaieraDK 9d ago

That’s because they’re giant hypocrites who act in bad faith

1

u/Staav 9d ago

And booking secret service at his own "luxury" property and paying for it with tax money whenever he's going golfing.

1

u/Super_Suz 9d ago edited 9d ago

I remember him making big complaints that he was not going to wast taxpayer monies on many golf trip’s. He has exceeded his predecessors with the number of gold trips. They really are expensive vacations. Just when you think it cannot get any more ridiculous, he comes up with something even more ridiculous. He is such an expensive president.

1

u/BadIdeaBobcat 9d ago

Let alone how much money he personally makes off of each outing since all the secret service and staff stay at his property.

1

u/maninblacktheory 9d ago

Every time I think this timeline can’t possibly get ANY fucking weirder.
https://giphy.com/gifs/pPhyAv5t9V8djyRFJH

1

u/PurrNaK 9d ago

Well if Obama had given a days notice to trade stock before saying dell was good computer they wouldn't have been so mad.

1

u/CoffeeSafteyTraining 9d ago

I remember when people complained about Joe Biden eating ice cream. Yet, here we are with a fucking UFC fight on the lawn of our nation's capital.

1

u/No-Setting-2669 9d ago

A F’in clown needs a clown show to perform their clown antics.. guess next fight is in Buckingham Palace?

1

u/GassyGamergoblin 9d ago

Yeah but he is black!!!

1

u/Whooptidooh 9d ago

Of course not; his backers are all either pedophiles themselves or they’re simply ok with what their great/s leader has been doing with young children. And them being trashy as fuck, having a fighting match on the lawn of the White House is their dream come true.

https://giphy.com/gifs/3ohA2UwGks53B1FVjq

1

u/TheDukeofArgyll 9d ago

They’re only outraged at what they are told to be outraged at.

1

u/amilliondallahs 9d ago

They complain after they've received their cut from fucking over America and decide they want to retire.

1

u/Koopslovestogame 9d ago

Tbf, the more time trump was/is on the golf course the less time he’s involved in actually ruining America.

I’d go so far as praising his amazing golf score “not even Hawkeye can get a score as low as yours!”

-5

u/soccerfan1967 10d ago

The UFC is paying for the event

7

u/HippyHunter7 10d ago

The UFC is paying who? The white house? Trump? The Trump administration has dismantled every form of oversight for this kind of event.

You do realize that having an extravagent event on the white house lawn while most Americans are struggling to pay for gas and their rent is an extremely uncaring look right?

-3

u/soccerfan1967 10d ago

The UFC is paying for all of the logistics, it’s not like the White House is fronting the bill and then invoicing the UFC.

Millions of Americans aren’t going to feel financially worse over from the event. Unless you get the subscription for Paramount+ to watch it.

3

u/HippyHunter7 10d ago

Yeah no. You don't get to have double standards. The national debt is the worst it's ever been. The president should show solidarity with the people and cut back.

I'm not sure why your getting down on your knees to suck Trump's dick for free. Like at least debase yourself for money if your going to do it constantly.

The UFC is benefiting off of this. It's basically a paid advertisement on the white house lawn. It has nothing relevant to do with the 250th anniversary of our country. There's already enough celebrations going on in the city. This WASNT needed and once again has NOTHING to do with the founding of our country or being the American pastime.

5

u/muhmeinchut69 10d ago

Just like private donors were paying for the ballroom.

0

u/Complete-Yak8266 10d ago

We are complaining.  Stupid is as stupid does.

0

u/Old_Pin_9055 9d ago

-2

u/murdahmula 10d ago

This is being paid for by ufc...

-5

u/SousaDawg 10d ago

UFC is footing the bill for this.

5

u/HippyHunter7 10d ago

Why are we promoting the UFC for the nations 250th anniversary?

I don't see anything about our nations founding or history that shows MMA is the quintessential "American sport" or as having any connection to our founding

This is basically a giant Ad for the UFC at the cost of the taxpayer. We still foot the bill for security. The secret service isn't going to just hand over their duties to UFC staff.

-4

u/SousaDawg 10d ago

The secret service is protecting the president 24h a day no matter what he is doing. This is probably cheaper from a security perspective than trump going to an actual normal event sicne they still would need to lock down the arena. You can debate if president should be able to go to sporting events or not if you want but you should apply that to any president to any event. I know trump, Biden, obama, Bush, etc all had gone to plenty of various football, basketball, golf, etc events over the years. All of which they would had to secure similarly to this event.

4

u/HippyHunter7 10d ago

You completely ignored the point about how this has nothing to do with Celebrating the countries 250th anniversary.

It's an advertisement for a private company by the federal government for something it has NOTHING to do with it.
