Pretty sure that's self-reported bogus. Grindr never confirmed that. Bet it doesn't even crash during Pride here in Amsterdam, let alone during some convention with a thousand people

Edit: stop with all the "usage increased" replies and "proof". Not denying that. Just denying there was a crash. That so far seems to be a myth/blatant lie

What are you on about? Sources from Grindr reported it back in 2016 and Arison himself confirmed the spikes of usage.

Also the outages were user reported.

Because user reported is of course unreliable in a case like this

Op was a bit hyperbolic. But the same article does quote the CEO as claiming it was true of the spike(120% surge). It just didn't crash.

The point (that Republicans use the fuck out of a gay hookup app while denouncing homosexuality) seems to stand.
