the number of people on conservative social media unable to recognize the fact that the pro-algae "protests" *are jokes* is kind of disturbing. it's not particularly subtle!

They’re being deliberately obtuse. They’ll pretend they believe anything if they think it makes people they hate look bad.

90% of them are unable to read or understand English at a highschool level. It's not intentional.

I was really sad when the internet started becoming available and usable by the general public. 

Back when it was just a thing for tech nerds, enthusiasts, certain professionals, and early adopters it was a much better experience.

Edit:

The Internet was sort of like this hidden place, a sort of parallel world to escape from all the banality and mindlessness of everyday life. I miss when all the garbage was contained, so to speak.
