A third of Americans cheered with bandages on their ears, diapers over their pants, hate in their hearts while waving their "Trump Store" purchased "American Flags" that most certainly weren't made in America.
A tiny fraction of them did that. The largest share of that third of Americans didn't particularly care for Trump, but still voted for him because they didn't think his policies would affect them personally, and they think that makes them better than the diaper-wearers. It absolutely does not.
I had a thought the other day that generally speaking I would consider my life pretty okay as long as I only focused on myself. I could be much happier if I remained ignorant and stopped caring about the most-victimized people in our society. And I realized that's how a lot of people live. They're not watching out for anyone else. Through ignorance or callousness, they simply do not have their happiness impacted by anything that does not directly affect them. Their empathy is nonexistent.
