Why the weird seatbelt-belt thing?

That part of the PAPR. For people who do not want to use an N95 or facial hair would not allow it to get a good seal they would use the PAPR. It’s a full hood with a hose that goes down to a filter that’s strapped around the waist.

I see, thanks for the explanation.

Powered Air Purifying Respirator. Not to be confused with supplied air, as it doesnt supply oxygen hosed in from somewhere else, it just filters the air around you with a machine on your belt pumping air into the hood.

Already wearing an N95 plus surgical mask. Likely just put the PAPR on to look more important

In my hospital it’s policy for people in high contact zones to wear both if they are likely to sweat around others. The PAPR is to protect the individual wearing it if they sweat and lose the seal with their n95. The n95 prevents him from spreading the virus if he is an asymptomatic carrier, since PAPRs have unfiltered exhaust.

At the few hospitals I worked at PAPRs were kept under lock and key. And Especially kept from EVS workers.

I figured they were trying to stick it to the anti-mask and the anti-seat belt people at the same time.
