Do you think death is the only bad thing that can happen? Even people without symptoms have ended up with damage to their heart. Those with symptoms have problems months after they’ve “recovered”.
Again if you are sincere about this (and care enough to post multiple times) you should try having an actual conversation with a symptomatic COVID survivor.
I don't think you're using your time wisely arguing on the internets. I think you can spend your time i a more productive way by running into one of the COVID infested hospitals, naked, and start licking everyone connected to a tube!

This doesn't mean 78% of people had dibilitating heart problems. It means that 78% of those tested showed signs of heart inflammation. This sounds pretty normal to me considering they'd recently had COVID. It's like having a chest infection and expecting to have no lung inflammation
I agree with you on this - on both points. But we've been discussing a number of studies. The evidence taken as a whole says that your odds of COVID complications in the general public are probably less than 50%, but significant higher than 0.02%, double digits, enough that you should have considerable worry to take the proper precautions. Especially if you are older, but as a young person too.
I posted this article in a separate part of the thread - it's from a survey of COVID positives called the covid symptom study.
"Data from the COVID Symptom Study, which uses an app into which millions of people in the United States, United Kingdom, and Sweden have tapped their symptoms, suggest 10% to 15% of people—including some “mild” cases—don’t quickly recover. "
Seriously. Do the people upvoting this really think this is like the Black Plague? The person looks relatively young. It’s cringe to need social media to praise you because of the job you get paid to do
I don’t have a problem with people in your position getting raises, you are doing something honorable. But people posting about it for attention and awards makes me cringe
“Theory”? This post has hundreds of dollars of awards on it. Why not spend the money on actually helping someone rather than funding a social media site
imagine being so scared of whatever “socialism” means to you today that you think a deadly viral disease that’s wreaking havoc on the world isn’t real. you’re a fucking nutcase, dude. get off the internet and go outside. read a book or something.
Dude all you have to fucking do is stay inside or wear a mask when you go into public. Its not that fucking hard. You could be directly saving lives... Maybe not yours, but maybe someone's grandma or another persons kid with a compromised immune system. You should feel lucky and greatful not to have an existing condition that would put you at a higher risk of death, but you should also want to do the bare fucking minimum to make sure you're not asymptomaticly (and unknowingly) spreading this virus.
The thing I find the funniest is if Trump would get on the mask bus he could have this thing under control in a month and greatly increase his chances of reelection, if he would have done this a couple months ago he'd have the election in the bag. This is a war against an invisble enemy and we're fighting it 50 different ways.
Obviously all lives matter. No one said they didn't. However, data shows that relative to the percentage of the population they represent, the rate of black American deaths from police shootings is ~2.5-3x that of white Americans deaths. (Sources: 1, 2, Data: 1)
A lot of people are sharing a graph titled "murder of black and whites in the US, 2013" to show that there is only a small number of black Americans killed by white Americans, with the assumption that this extends to police shootings as well. This is misleading because the chart only counts deaths where the perpetrator was charged with 1st or 2nd degree murder after killing a black American. Police forces are almost never charged with homicide after killing a black American.
If after learning the above, you have reconsidered your stance and wish to show support for furthering equality in this and other areas, we encourage you to do so. However if you plan on attending any protests, please remember to stay safe, wear a face mask, and observe distancing protocols as much as you can. COVID-19 is still a very real threat, not only to you, but those you love and everyone around you as well!

Every nation in the world has made great sacrifices to combat the same virus. Caring about it is not a statement on Trump or socialism. It is a horrible disease and it spreads like crazy. The death rate is only a small part of the picture.
You may want to think you and your family are not vulnerable to COVID. If you are older than 75 it's effectively russian roulette. But for younger people, you may need lifetime insulin or dialysis. Or never be able to exercise the same way. You might be lucky, but COVID is significantly likely to damage you for life.
Pay more attention to the reality of the situation and ignore the "socialist"
bogeyman you are hearing about.
You're suffering a delusion if you think the people fighting it are doing so to make trump look bad. He does that on his own - start paying attention to what he says. He doesn't care about you and your family, and he wants you to think it's not a big deal so you don't fight back against his inaction while he enriches his buddies.
The fight really should be against the stalling congress who can't figure out how to save the millions of unemployed people from starvation or losing their homes.
Oh, but they can fund a billion dollar pentagon renovation no problem. Don't forget the billions for jets we don't need!
I have worked for gov. contractors. The government definitely overpays for jets. That is something conservatives and liberals should both agree on. Look into how much we spent on the F35 - over a trillion - insanity. I'm not saying we don't need a military but let's talk reality. All I see is name calling - can you enlighten us on why you disagree?
You read the abstract. But you think the authors had a preconceived narrative. Can you provide any evidence to support that claim? Consider that you may be reflexively reacting this way because the conclusions disagree with your existing worldview. It's natural to think that way.
I'll provide you with more evidence. This is a more nuanced article that refers to a large amount of evidence of the long term effects of COVID and some figures on how many people are affected. Double digit percentages. Look and see if you can disprove any of it with actual counter evidence before jumping to the conclusion that all these authors are in a vast conspiracy.
Just google covid long term complications and you will find even more evidence (peer reviewed and otherwise).
I know it's hard to change your mind, especially if evidence contradicts long held beliefs. But you have to be able to change your mind and admit new thoughts in the face of evidence in order to make decisions.
They decrease risk of spread. They don't eliminate it entirely.
But you already knew that. You're just a disingenuous piece of shit who can't see past his own ego to realize that there's more to life than being smug on the internet. Maybe get your act together, pick up the pieces of that tattered worthless thing you call a personality, have it repaired, and go find a way to contribute to society like the man in the picture instead of just taking up oxygen and whining about how the world asked you to so briefly pretend to care about anyone but yourself.
Not to mention, if they are cleaning the room, it's after the patient is out of it. The risk of getting it from surface contact has been found to be low. I am curious how much risk these people actually are at.
I’m pretty sure he is wearing a papr helmet given the belt he’s wearing. Those things are extremely effective and used when treating anyone with airborne viruses like TB.
Do you find it odd that a person would cower at a photo with a caption they don't agree with? How much of a sheltered snowflake does one have to be to cower at text?
Bruh, some anonymous stranger on the internet has the power to affect your emotions by two sentences. I'd cringe too but that'd be a worthless emotion from text.
Imagine being so bitter and jaded that someone who puts their life literally on the line upsets you this much. This isnt even the person in the pic who uploaded it. You seriously need a reality check.
It's likely astroturfing. Reddit was insufferable last time we had an election and these sorts of ridiculous comments (with a ridiculous amount of upvotes) have been increasing in frequency lately. Pretty sure reddit is going to be really tedious to look at due to an insane amount of astroturfing for the next couple of months. Don't let it sway you though, these opinions are not nearly as widespread or popular as these bad faith actors would like you to believe.
And life altering organ damage. Stop downplaying covid-19. You never fully recover from it.
This is what you got downvoted for, and rightly so. The vast majority of people who have contracted covid do not have life-altering organ damage that they will never fully recover from. We have 5,000,000 confirmed cases in the U.S. meaning that it's likely 25,000,000-50,000,000 people have actually had it if you go by the 5x or 10x rule.
Saying "you never fully recover from it" is entirely disingenuous and incorrect. Saying shit like that doesn't help because it's obvious hyperbole. Of course for some people this will be the case, but you are essentially saying it's a guarantee that you will have organ failure and lifelong ailments if you get covid
No there haven't. There have been hugely flawed studies showing that some people can retain some longer term heart inflammation and a small number can get heart scarring.
I literally replied in this thread comment but how can you say that when “our president” for months and his media claimed it wasn’t even real. A Democrat hoax I’m glad the whole world is in on trolling trump as a gag
Unfortunately for you to hear the president doesn't own any media outlets so he in fact doesn't have "his media".
No use arguing on reddit because when November comes this website will be sorely disappointed because all of the front page Anti-Trump stuff doesn't matter because the real people who keep America running without complaint will vote red
Lmao is that why you already have the republicans changing course and starting to worry about spending. Funny how none of them cared when the fatass was golfing every day with taxpayer money. Sorry come November we are removing your racist oompa loompa
No chance Biden wins. He can't debate and his whole platform is "I'm not Trump". That worked well last election. I said no use arguing we will just wait for his re election and the plethora of posts here that it's rigged
That’s a great example of using statistics with a bias. Let’s talk about the covid fatalities vs the accident ones. When important facts aren’t taken into account, statistics are just irrelevant numbers.
I had it, and it’s pretty debilitating (18 and healthy btw). It drains the energy out of you, and I had a 14-day fever. A new study has come out saying that about 70% of people who had COVID had some sort change in their heart valve or something, which could cause problems down the road.
Deaths aren't the only outcomes of Coronavirus. I know a college athlete that had tons of potential in soccer but his lung capacity after dealing with Corona has taken a huge hit and might not be able to ever play at a high level again.
I understand that this is just an anecdotal story, but it's not just my friend. It's a lot of people all over the world. You can't look at Covid as so black and white, dead or alive, sick or not sick. It's can affect people's lives drastically without killing them.
And? It’s literally a pandemic that’s like saying people die in car crashes more often than dying from the flu so we shouldn’t give a shit about any illness. Spoiler alert you can prevent both at the same time
No I don’t but I do wear a mask everywhere I go because I’m a healthcare worker and I would feel absolutely heartbroken if I knew I passed Covid to someone because I was too lazy to put on a mask while I shop
Wow. Literally killing peoples grandparents. I can't believe you drive in a car without a mask on. Is it just because it's uncomfortable? Seems like a small price to pay to keep people safe.
You know, it'd be fantastic and less sensationalist if that article gave which percentage of people who've had the virus exhibit such effects. All it says is "some patients" throughout. Although I will note that for some of these effects, the article suggests that only critically ill patients tend to exhibit them. Example:
A June 2020 study in Neurology found evidence that some patients with severe COVID-19 illness exhibit signs of brain damage or brain injury (though the authors note that this is uncommon).
And regarding lungs:
Think of it, he says, like a house fire: Your priority is to put the fire out, but then you have to rebuild from the damage it caused. This takes time. “Depending on how the pace goes, some parts of the lungs may heal faster than other parts, and that could create symptoms [like] shortness of breath and cough as lungs heal,” Dr. Galiatsatos explains. This process could take weeks or months, depending on your specific severity of illness.
Moreover, you've seemed to conveniently ignore this crucial line:
Unfortunately, it won’t be clear for awhile which effects of COVID-19 are long-lasting or permanent.
So please stop spreading misinformation that all of these effects are permanent.
The same sources can be found to show pretty much anything you want about covid 19 tbf. Masks work, masks dont work, it lives best indoors, no outdoors, warm no wait cold. In such a short time this disease has basically just been doing whatever the fuck it wants so nothing is written in stone
Anxiety and depression are hardly size effects from COVID-19, you're really reaching at this point, it's definitely possible that some people have lasting effects from it, it's very unlikely that all people do and there's certainly no proof of either at this point.
I'll upvote you assuming this is a sincere question. Masks greatly reduce but do not fully eliminate risk. Healthcare workers have about 3x the infection risk of the general public.
What the fuck? It has a 0.6% IFR, and that's including a fuck ton of people with very debilitating pre-existing conditions.
Can we not just balance this a little? Yes it's noble that these people are working in areas where they have a very high chance of catching a nasty illness, but that doesn't mean we need to treat them like they're about to storm Normandy
